Fenrir didn’t say anything when I walked around the table, distancing myself from him. I placed the packet with the herbal pills in the corner, intending to grab it when I returned from my walk. His gaze burned on me, firm and meticulous.
As soon as we stepped onto the purch, a female cut in front of me. I instinctively took a step back, wrinkling my face in a disapproving
grimace.
She was tall and slim. Her hair, a cascade of dark curls, fell messily over her shoulders, framing her beautiful face. Her lips were full, brows well–defined, and her nose was strong, dotted with a light layer of freckles that marked her pale skin. She wore a black tank top that clung to her round, average–sized breasts, jeans, and sneakers.
“Marilyn,” Alexandra greeted, sounding bored,
Marilyn analyzed me, staring at me from head to toe, her lips curled in a sneer. Disgust and scorn gleamed in her brown eyes.
“So, this is the mated wolf… she commented, laughing mockingly.
“Looks like the news travels fast around here,” Alexandra trased.
My chest warmed, and I soon felt Fentir’s presence behind me. He p
passed by my side, careful not to touch me, and stopped in front of the intruding wolf.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, lowering his head to stare at her.
“I came to see if what they were saying was true.” She took a step to the side, staring at me again. “I thought you’d have a more… refined taste in females.” She puckered her lips. “Didn’t know you were interested in mutts wandering around in the forest.”
He laughed. The bastard simply laughed.
turning to me, standing beside her, and draping an arm over her shoulders.
“I’m a charitable soul,” he replied, tu
Every cell in my body reacted to the scene. My fur stood on end, and I felt my wolf on the brink of shifting. My nails started to hurt as they elongated from my fingers.
I took a deep breath. One, two, three times. We were newly mated, and I would act this way for a while. I didn’t care about him, nor that damn wolf. For all I cared, they could explode.
“Please, Fenriri Alexandra scolded, shaking her head.
Marilyn stepped forward, smiling at me.
“You’re a poor thing.” She laughed. “How nice that you found our charitable alpha.”
I was one step away from losing control and killing that bitch. But I wouldn’t lose my head. I’d l
to trust me. At the first opportunity, I’d get out of there.
I’d leave, and I needed to keep my hands clean if I wanted them
*Such a huge pleasure to meet you,” I said, smiling widely. “Is everyone in the pack this polite?” I asked, addressing Alexandra.
The wolf laughed, enjoying my sharp response. I heard Marilyn growl, and it gave me immense satisfaction.
“Only a few are as… hmm… polite as Marilyn,” Alexandra replied, gaining points with me.
“Wow..” I joked.
Fenrir pulled the girl away, planting a kiss on the side of her head while keeping his gaze on me. I hid my hands behind my back and clenched them into fists, so tightly that I felt the sting of my skin breaking from my sharp nails.
“Come on, Marilyn.
- r. I have some things to take care of, and I want some good company,” he murmured, dragging her along
shot me a sideways glance before rising onto the tips of her toes and brushing her lips against his. Then, they turned on their heels and walked down The stone path until they were out of sight
I didn’t realize I had been staring at the spot where they disappeared. I didn’t even notice the burning in my palms. I only registered something was wrong when I felt Alexandra’s subtle touch on my shoulder.
“It’s because of the recent mating,” she whispered, pushing me and forcing me to walk. “You’ll feel like this for a few days until your body gets used to his

that I hate him so much hut die of jealousy at the same time,” I confessed. “These feelings are so contradictory, they confuse me
She nodded sympathetically, understanding my situation.
“Fennur is like this because of his fiancee.”
“Fiancée?” My voice came out high–pitched.
“He became like this after Catalina’s death. She was the female he loved. So don’t take any of his stupid actions to heart, no
o matter how foolish they seem.”
God, it wasn’t enough that I had to put up with him being a jerk, now I had to compete with a dead female? No, this definitely wasn’t the life I had planned for myself.
“How did she die?” I asked, more curious than I wanted to admit.
Alexandra shook her head.
“Sorry, but that’s not my story to tell. Maybe Fenrir will talk to you about it sometime when he’s ready.”
nodded, letting out an exasperated sigh.
The situation was even worse.
With Hunter, I had imagined having pups, a perfect house, and a dream wedding, where I would be his only love and he would be mine. A fairy–tale marriage, like the ones in the romance novels I used to read.
Though I had the best sleep I’d had in months, thanks to the feeling of safety that the village and Fenrir gave me, that wasn’t what I wanted. Not at all. Being despised and humillated just for existing, just for being who I was. I had to run away. I had to find a way to leave and find my sister as soon as possible.
