Chapter 187: Wrapping Up Her Hands, But What If He Can’t Let Go?
Gemma stared at her palms, now raw and bleeding.
“Hissl”
The adrenaline had worn off.
The pain hit like a freight train.
It hurt.
And… embarrassing.
Just now, she was bracing myself, thinking there was nothing wrong with her.
The pain came too fast.
“I got first–aid kit here.”
Cassius popped open a first–aid kit from the car’s console.
It was stocked with antiseptics, gauze, and a suspiciously large amount of painkillers.
Perfect for Gemma now.
“Pink ointment. Gauze. That one,” Gemma directed.
Her hands were bloody now.
It’s kind of hideous.
If she did it herself, the blood could landed on something else.
He actually listened to her orders.
Cassius handed her the supplies, his movements precise.
“Teach me,” he said, already unscrewing the antiseptic bottle.
Gemma blinked.
“I can-”
But…
Her hands trembled too much to argue.
It’s really not easy to do it.
“Disinfect first.”
She muttered, cheeks flushing.
Cassius took her hand carefully.
Like it was made of glass.
The antiseptic stung like hell.
Gemma bit her lip hard enough to draw blood.
“Next, she choked out, tears welling.
Cassius froze.
Her ragged breathing, the way her lashes fluttered–it did something to him.
Something dangerous.
His Adam’s apple rolled hard.
His hand holding the anti–inflammatory froze for a moment.
“Yeah, apply the anti–inflammatory.”
Gemma’s breath came out in shallow gasps.
Right by his ear.
It felt like she was urging him to do something.
He felt like his body was on fire.
The flames surged upward from below.
His throat was dry and scratchy.
“Why aren’t you moving?!”
Gemma winced in pain.

The disinfectant’s effect was almost wearing off.
Cassius snapped out of it.
He suppressed the unfamiliar heat rising within him.
The anti inflammatory powder sprinkled onto her palm.
The bloody mess was now covered in a layer of white powder.
It made her hands look even more delicate and fair.
‘Gauze.”
Gemma took a deep breath.
The anti–inflammatory medicine worked fast, but it hurt so much!
The pain was almost unbearable.
Cassius gently wrapped the gauze around her hand.
He looped it carefully, one layer after another.
Once done, he cut the gauze and tied it into a neat bow.
Then he grabbed Gemma’s other hand.
“I can handle this one myself.”
Gemma felt much better now that her first hand was treated.
She didn’t want to trouble him again.
But Cassius acted like he hadn’t heard her.
He held onto her hand firmly.
Just as she was about to protest, the disinfectant was applied.
She gasped in pain and didn’t dare speak anymore.
“Cassius, are you hurt?”
She knew the cars had been targeting the driver’s side, trying to kill Cassius.
The car that hit the passenger side was just taking a chance.
But it had thoroughly enraged Cassius.
Aside from the wounds on her palms, she had a few minor scrapes.
But she didn’t mention them, afraid Cassius would get angry or insist on taking her to see a doctor.
She didn’t think they were a big deal.
Cassius didn’t answer at first.
Only after bandaging her hands did he show his own.
From gripping the steering wheel too tightly during the collision, his palms had some abrasions.
These injuries weren’t serious. They’d heal in a couple of days without medication.
But since Cassius had helped her, it would’ve been heartless not to return the favor.
“Let me treat your wounds.”
Cassius nodded. “Thank you.”
Gemma, “…”
She carefully took his hand.
His hands were large.
The pads of his fingers felt rough, like they had calluses.
And his palms were marked with scars.
Some deep, some shallow, crisscrossing in all directions.
It was hard to even see his palm lines.
Compared to that, his current abrasions were nothing.
When she applied the disinfectant.
The man didn’t even flinch.
“If it hurts, let me know.”
Gemma gently blew on the wound.
Then she prepared the anti–inflammatory medicine.

Her breath was soft and warm.
Like floral perfume.
It seeped into his bloodstream, clogging his chest.
His blood felt like it had stopped flowing.
Only after his hand was bandaged and Gemma asked a question did he snap out of it.
“Let’s get out of the car.”
His ears were red.
His heartbeat was erratic.
He needed to figure out why.
Gemma quickly got out.
This wasn’t the estate but a villa near the mountains, not far from the church.
Shawn came running out of the villa.
And he had a beautiful woman with him.
Gemma surprised. “What are you doing here?”
Shawn had planned a fireworks show for the evening to impress Gemma.
But Cassius had left the church without waiting.
So clueless.
Gemma didn’t answer, looking at Thea instead. “And you are…”
“Hi, I’m Thea.”
Thea happily extended her hand.
Gemma smiled and shook it.
“Hi, I’m Gemma.”
Thea’s eyes flickered with confusion at the name.
But then she dismissed it.
There were so many Gemma in the world. It couldn’t be THAT Gemma.
“By the way, we made some food. It is still on the stove. I’d better check on it.”
Thea sensed they had things to discuss and tactfully excused herself.
Shawn looked puzzled.
“Gem, why do you look so disheveled? And why does that car look like it’s been turned into a tin can?”
Cassius had just stepped out of the car and overheard this. His face darkened instantly.
Shawn wanted to raise his hands in surrender.
Why did Cassius have to hear that?
Gemma raised her hands, both wrapped tightly in gauze with no gaps.
Shawn was shocked.
‘Holy shit!”
Gemma sighed softly. “We got caught in a pileup, but I think those people were trying to kill Cassius.”
Shawn’s expression changed drastically. He rushed to the nearly wrecked car.
“Cass, what happened? Do you know who they were? Was it the Ravens?”
Cassius shook his head, his expression icy.
Shawn had a bad feeling. “Was it Aunt Evan’s enemies?”
