Chapter 224: Gemma’s One of a Kind
Cassius pointed outside.
“Not a single one gets away. Arrest them all.”
Robin sighed. “I’m a cop, not Iron Man.”
Cassius raised an eyebrow. “You do realize every single person in there is at least guilty of abuse, right?”
Robin hesitated, then shrugged. “Fine. But I need more people. Give me the manpower, and rounding them up will be a piece of cake.”
“Deal.” Cassius didn’t even blink.
Gemma lowered her head.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
She knew Cassius was doing this for her.
Everyone in that village–except the other girls who suffered alongside her–had been part of her nightmare.
She wanted to thank him.
But “thank you” felt too small, too empty.
She’d just have to repay him in her own way, little by little.
The next morning.
Dan showed up early.
Instead of barging in, he actually waited outside for Gemma to wake up before stepping inside.
“Anne.”
His voice was as grating as nails on a chalkboard, full of arrogance.
Gemma froze, instantly wide awake.
She turned around–and sure enough, there he was.
The last person she ever wanted to see.
“I keep telling you, your mom misses you! Why won’t you come home?”
“And tell me, does that boss of yours even want you? Did he pay up or not?”
“Thirty grand, minimum. He doesn’t cough it up, he doesn’t get to touch you!”
The sheer greed on his face made Gemma’s stomach churn.
She gagged, gripping the wall for support.
Dan’s expression darkened instantly.
“You let him fuck you? Are you pregnant?”
He slapped his thigh in outrage.
“You little slut! Can’t go a day without a man,
huh?”
“That’s it, I’m going to find him!”
“He slept with you? He pays up!”
‘I’ve heard the city girls charge two grand a night! Who knows how many times he’s had you–I want twenty thousand!”
Gemma didn’t even get a chance to speak.
In his eyes, she was already guilty,
Already had a price tag.
“Shut up!”
She swung her hand up, furious.
Dan sneered. “Oh‘ You gonna hit me now? Think I’m scared of you?”
He grabbed a wooden stick nearby.
Gemma’s blood ran cold. A flood of childhood memories hit her like a tidal wave.
Her hands trembled. She dropped her toothbrush cup and instinctively crouched down, covering her head.
She didn’t even think to run. Didn’t even think to scream.
But, the pain never came. Instead, Dan let out an ear piercing scream.
She blinked, hesitated, then slowly looked up.

Chapter 274 Gemma’s On
of a Kind
Cassius had appeared out of nowhere.
He wasnt even trying just casually pressing down on Dan’s shoulder with one hand
Dan’s fare twisted in agony
He howled, body trembling violently
“You fucked my daughter, and now you won’t pay up? You think I’ll let you off just because you’re some big shot boss?”
Last night, he’d been all smiles, wagging his tail like a lapdog
Now that he thought Gemma was pregnant, he showed his true colors.
Cassius didn’t react. His expression didn’t change, not even a flicker in his eyes. He just pressed down harder.
Dan screamed.
The village chief came running
This time, he brought his wife along
After hearing what happened, he immediately stepped in
“What kind of father are you?” the chief scolded “She brought her boyfriend home to see you, and this is how you act? Calm down. Listen, my wife
will take Anne inside for a chat I’ll talk to her man”
The village chief’s wife looked dazed, but at her husband’s command, she moved toward Gemma.
Gemma hadn’t seen her in years.
The woman looked older, sure but more than that, it was like her spirit had been completely sucked dry.
Instinctively, Gemma grabbed her wrist. “Aunt Nancy, please, you have to help me.”
Something flickered in Aunt Nancy’s dull eyes. “Oh it’s you, Anne.”
“Take her inside! the chief barked.
Nancy flinched, then pulled Gemma along.
Unlike the others, Aunt Nancy had never been outright cruel to her. Gemma didn’t have a bad impression of her.
Besides, Cassius needed to deal with those people. If she stayed, she’d just be in the way.
More importantly when she grabbed Aunt Nancy’s wrist, she noticed something was off. Her hand felt like ice. Strange. She needed to check.
“You and the chief must be really close,” Gemma said casually.
Aunt Nancy ignored her, instead asking
“Are you pregnant?”
Gemma stiffened, then quickly shook her head, “No, I just ate something bad, made me nauseous.”
Aunt Nancy stopped walking. Hesitated.
Then, she gripped Gemma’s hand even tighter.
“You’re lying. But that’s okay. We’ll find out soon enough.”
Gemma, “777”
“Aunt Nancy… you know how to check for pregnancy?”
Before she could get an answer, they arrived at the chief’s house.
The light in Aunt Nancy’s eyes faded again, replaced by the same dead expression as before,
“You have to be pregnant,” she murmured. “You must be.”
Gemma frowned. This was so weird.
She’d been holding a small blade in her hand this whole time, just in case. But now,
she tucked it away.
“Aunt Nancy, what are you talking about? Why do I HAVE to be pregnant?”
The moment she said the word “pregnant,” something clicked in Aunt Nancy’s mind.
“Congratulations Dear, you’re pregnant, that’s perfect. You’d be the most valuable person in the village.”
“Our village would finally have a future.”
“Come, let’s check”
Gemma had no idea what was going on.
But she didn’t want to startle Aunt Nancy–so, she followed her inside her house.
she expected an ultrasound machine.
This village valued boys over girls. If a woman was carrying a girl, they’d force an abortion.
Having a machine would make things easy for them.

Chapter 224: Gemma’s One of a Kind
It explained why she’d noticed plenty of little boys–but no girls.
But before she could think too much about it, the floor suddenly disappeared beneath her feet.
She plunged down.
“Ah!”
She let out a startled cry as she tumbled down.
Aunt Nancy followed, sliding down behind her.
The second she hit the ground, a nauseating stench filled her nose.
Then she heard crying.
Gemma rubbed her eyes, trying to adjust to the dim light.
That’s when she realized–The village chief’s house sat on top of a massive underground bunker.
It stretched so far, she couldn’t even see the end of it. Did it connect the whole village?
Before she could process what the hell was going on, a few men approached.
“Well, well, what do we have here? She’s a rare find.”
“Pretty face, great body.”
Their leering grins made her stomach turn.
She recognized them. They were the sons of the village elders.
They hadn’t interacted much when she was younger, but she’d seen them around.
Her fingers tightened around the blade in her pocket. She was about to throw it, when Aunt Nancy stepped in front of her.
“You can’t touch her.”
One of the men sneered. “Move, old hag.”
“She’s pregnant.”
They froze.
