Chapter5
Alpha Jason couldn’t figure it out.
He was in the bathroom, muttering curses
“Kamelia, where the hell do I stick this thing?!”
“Should I stick the sticky side on my butt?”
“Damn it! It’s stuck to my fur!”
“Is this some kind of joke? I swear, I’ll find the idiots behind this and rip them apart!”
I stood outside, hands pressed against the frosted glass, watching his tall, muscular figure struggle.
“Alpha, let me in to help you~”

“Not a chance.”
“Heh, is it your heartbeat or your ego that’s racing? Control yourself.”
“Not now, Kamelia.”
He refused to open the door.
Moments passed. After much cursing and fiddling, he finally opened the door. He waddled out awkwardly, his body clearly not used to the situation. His eyes locked with mine.
“How long do those cycles of yours usually last?”
“About a week.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Okay, I’ll reimburse

you for the pads. Go for the top shelf stuff.”
That was actually considerate.
I twisted my fingers. “Well… there’s something else you could reimburse me for.”
“What’s that?”
“Painkillers.”
Jason blinked, confused. “Painkillers? For what?”
I sighed heavily. “Menstrual cramps. You wouldn’t understand.”
Jason furrowed his brow. “Are you trying to tell me you feel like a damn python’s crawling around inside you?”
“Exactly.”

He pulled out a cigarette and lit it with unbothered ease. “Kamelia, from now on, treat those painkillers like calcium. Got it?”
What? Did he just…?!
The next day, Jason’s underling barged in, boxes of painkillers in tow. And then more boxes. And more. Soon, an entire room was
filled.
“Boss, never seen you this nice to a woman before. Sister–in–law, you’re the second one.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Who was the first?”
The underling smirked. “The last female Alpha.”
My stomach twisted.

Jason’s phone rang then. “Kamelia, does the heartache still hit when the cramps kick in? I’ve heard the painkillers help with that too.”
I learned that the previous Alpha of their pack was a fierce, powerful woman. She was the one who always gave orders, and Jason? He was her loyal blade–cutting down anyone who got in her way without hesitation.
Everyone thought they’d end up as the ultimate mate. But, oh, fate had a different plan.
One day, the Alpha was ambushed, a vicious attack that left her in a coma. Jason, now the second–in–command, stepped up. The pack slowly descended into chaos. Jason? A strong leader, sure, but one who didn’t know all the secrets that kept the pack strong.

I listened, intrigued and a little horrified by the gossip. As Jason spoke, I secretly nursed my cramps. He was a mess, and I couldn’t help but find amusement in his discomfort.
Then came the day I decided to cook for him. A peace offering of sorts. Steamed fish, creamy soup, braised beef…
”
When Jason walked in that night, fresh from the battlefield, he raised his eyebrow, surprised.
“You cooked?” he muttered, glancing at the table.
“Yeah,” I said proudly. “You like?”
He sat down, eyes narrowing at the food, but then–his expression changed. It was as if something clicked.

He leaned forward, his voice dropping to a low growl. “Kamelia, is vinegar falling in price recently?”
I blinked. “No? Why would you think that?”
Jason immediately slammed down a glass of water, his eyes narrowing. “Has anyone ever told you you’re a terrible cook?”
I stared at him, stunned. “What? No! Why would you say that?”
Jason leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest. “Then why’d you even bother?”
“Excuse me?”
“Did you seriously dump half a bottle of vinegar in this?”
