Chapter 27
Marcel’s Pov
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Leah exploded.
“Watch “Aragon growled at her
My hackles rose and I clenched my fist, I had to remind myself of my place.
“Yes, Alpha,” she bit out, “Bu 1 will have you know, the girl was harassed and traumatized today. I took her out for ice cream to make her feel better but you just ruined it for her. I would call you an asshole but that would be disrespectful because you are the Alpha,” she hissed and stormed inside
Aragon rolled his eyes, “Tell your mate to mind the way she talks to me,”
“No, I will not because she is right. You didn’t notice that your mate was upset because you were so busy yelling at her,”
“Seriously! You are on her side?”
“she is my mate, of course I am on her side. You were a dick to her today, man.”
He sighed, “I didn’t know, okay? I thought she was just giving an atrunde,”
I shook my head and walked after Leah, my wall was already itching to go to her. She was pacing in our room when I got there. When I opened the door, she whirled
“Can you believe him? Yelling at her like she is some sort of slave.”
“Baby.” I tried.
“That girl has been through a lot and she has no one by her side. I sme the look in her eyes when I opened the door. She was terrified, Marcel,” her voice broke.
Her shoulders trembled with every shaky breach she took Gently, I gathered her into my arms, feeling her tears soaking into my shim as she voblard against my chest. I rubbed her back in slow, comforting circles, hoping it would ease some of the emotions she carried
“She’s safe now,” I whispered into her hair. “Sapphire has us and I know you’d do anything to protect her.”
Her soba quieted, but she stayed buried in my chest. “Why is the Alpha treating her this way?” she finally asked, her voice breaking with every word.
I sighed, unsure how to explain it all without hurting her further. “Aragon has his reasons,” I said softly, trying to maintain some semblance of neutrality.

She nodded, her head still pressed against me “Okay,” she whispered, though the resignation in her voice tore at me. I hated seeing her like this- broken, Leah always has her heart on her sleeve and I know she felt for Sapphire and would do anything for her at this point.
I kissed the top of her head and let her pull away. “I’m going to take a shower,” she murmured, avoiding eye contact as she retreated to the bathroom. The sound of running water filled the silence, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
My mind immediately shifted to Sappliure. I needed to check on her, to make sure she was okay. I headed toward her room but when I opened the door, it was empty. Panic gripped my chest for a moment before I heard faint sounds coming from the kitchen.
I walked in and found hergranding at the counter, focused on chopping vegetables with a precision that spoke of practice. Aragon in the eating area, his gaze locked on her, but she seemed determined to ignore him. The tension was palpable, like a rubber hand stretched to its lim, ready to
“Sapphire.” Icalled softly as I approached her.
She looked up and immediately broke into a bright smile, one that made my heart ache for her. “Hey,” she greeted warmly. “I hope I didn’t keep you mway from your mate for too long.
Ishook my head. “No, it’s okay. She’s resting”
Sapphire nodded and turned back to her cooking, her movements fluid and calm despite the inteme gaze Aragon continued to direct at her. I could see the struggle in her eyes, the way she was trying so hard to remain unaffected by his presence
“How was school?” I asked, hoping to steer the conversation away from the dark cloud hanging over us all
She sighed, shagging as she stirred something in a pot. “I’ll live.”
Her tone was flat, and it made my chest tighten with worry. I moved closer, leaning against the counter. Tell me the names of the girls who did that
to you.”
She paused for a moment, her grip tightening on the wooden spoon. Then she sighed again and shook her head. “You don’t need to worry about
I frowned, about to press her further when Aragon’s deep voice cut through the room. “What girls?”
Sapphire stiffened, but she didn’t turn to face him. Instead, she shrugged, her back still to us. “It’s nothing” she said in a dismissive tone that only made me more concerned.
Aragon’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenching as he stared at her, but he didn’t push the issue. I could tell he was irritated by the way she was brushing i off. It wasn’t her fault because he had been nothing but cruel to her.
