Chapter 246: Don’t Go Back to Doltons, We Care About You
Gemma didn’t even hesitate.
“Sorry, blocked numbers don’t get through,”
Hector, “…”
So much for the high–tech, billion–dollar security system–completely useless.
Looks like he’d have to go back and tell Mr. Wilson that next time, just send flowers.
High–tech gadgets weren’t romantic,
And clearly, Madam wasn’t impressed.
“Well then, Madam, I’ll leave you to it.”
Gemma gave a slight nod. “Okay.”
Mission failed, Hector left looking dejected.
Gemma checked the time–just off work. She clocked out at the hospital entrance, hailed a cab, and headed straight for Beasleys.
As always, she let Cassius know first.
He must’ve been busy because it took three minutes for a reply.
[I’ll pick you up at Beasleys.]
Gemma’s lips curled into a smile.
She typed quickly.
[What’re you up to?]
[Setting up a lab for you.]
Her heart nearly jumped out of her throat.
A lab.
A sterile, world–class research lab–exactly what she needed.
[Is it hard to set up?]
Her fingers trembled slightly, from sheer excitement.
Cassius responded almost instantly.
[No.]
Gemma clutched her phone, unable to hide her smile.
[Can I see it tonight?]
Cassius, as always, was direct.
[Yes. I’ll take you there after I pick you up.]
So efficient.
So damn exhilarating.
She must’ve done something incredible in a past life to land a partner like this.
Soon, the cab pulled up in front of the Beasleys‘ estate.
While not as massive as the Raven family’s, Beasleys was still one of the most powerful names in N.L. City.
Thanks to Elizabeth Raven, no one dared to mess with them, making their rise smooth and unstoppable.
Owning a few villas in a place where land was worth its weight in gold? Totally normal.
But ever since Keagan’s messy divorce, the family had taken a major hit. They’d even cut down on staff.
The butler personally came to greet her and led her inside.
Elizabeth sat on the sofa, elegant as ever in an early–spring Hermès dress, exuding wealth and power.
Gemma had expected a casual chat. She wasn’t expecting to walk in and see two other women standing across from Elizabeth.
And she knew them both.
One was Yvonne–Keagan’s so–called “true love,” the reason he cut ties with Susie’s family and turned Beasleys into the laughingstock of high
Society.
The other was Kaiya Dolton, whom Gemma had just met recently.
Both were dressed to impress.

Yvonne, with her killer figure, leaned into sultry, body–hugging outfits.
Kaiya, in Dior, had a refined elegance without being over–the–top.
Each had their own brand of beauty.
But Elizabeth clearly had no fondness for either. She sat there, cold as ice, fingers practically itching to hurl the teacup beside her.
Then Gemma walked in.
The tension in the room cracked instantly.
Elizabeth’s expression softened–just a little.
She waved Gemma over.
“Gem, come here.”
Gemma smiled–polite, but a little awkward–and walked over.
“Gem, don’t blame me. Some people show up uninvited. If I’d known they were coming, I wouldn’t have let you breathe in this polluted air.”
The two women, “…”
Gemma chuckled.
She knew Elizabeth was making it clear-
This wasn’t a setup to make them run into each other.
“Madame Elizabeth.“,
Yvonne’s eyes flashed cold the moment she saw Gemma.
“Well, since you have guests, we won’t intrude.”
She grabbed Kaiya’s hand.
“Kaiya, let’s go. If she doesn’t want business handed to her on a silver platter, let her keep clinging to this sinking ship.”
A few steps out.
No one stopped them.
Yvonne hesitated, then turned back with a smirk.
“Oh, and remember–Keagan’s not coming back without my say–so.”
With that, she strode off with Kaiya.
When they were gone, Gemma frowned.
“They really don’t know you’re grooming Selah
to take
Over Beasleys?”
Selah had always been impressive–top–tier education, raised to be both emotionally and intellectually sharp.
Beasleys had once pinned all their hopes on Keagan, sidelining their eldest daughter.
But Selah had never let that hold her back. Over the years, she built multiple companies on her own.
山
And when Keagan’s personal life started unraveling, Elizabeth had finally had enough.
Beasleys shifted their focus to Selah.
What started as a backup plan turned out to be a jackpot–Selah was more capable than anyone had realized.
“Of course they don’t,” Elizabeth said, suddenly looking mischievous. She blinked playfully.
“Let them dream. When they finally realize they’ve been scheming for nothing, they’ll be livid.”
Gemma laughed. “You’ve really made peace with this, huh?”
Elizabeth sighed. “What can I do? I raised him. Gotta take my losses.”
Then she turned to Gemma, her expression serious. “Oh, by the way–watch out for Kaiya. She’s not simple.”
Gemma raised a brow. “You know already?”
Elizabeth nodded. “That’s why I called you here.”
“You kept the whole ‘Doltons‘ heiress‘ thing low–key, but them suddenly showing up in N.L City? People are sniffing around. The secret’s out to those who care enough to dig.”
“Kaiya is Doltons‘ darling. If you go back, you’ll be as out of place as Cass was in the Raven family.”
Back then, Raven had William–their golden boy, the one who got all the resources.
If that scandal hadn’t ruined him, Cassius would’ve stayed in his shadow forever,
And honestly..
This wasn’t about strength.
Family ties were impossible to sever.

Chapter 246: Don’t Go Back to Doltons, We Care About You
Even if you pretended not to care, the disappointment would still cut deep.
That kind of loneliness–no one could comfort you.
Gemma understood.
She’d already made her choice before ever meeting Doltons.
“Kaiya came to see you for a favor, didn’t she?”
At that, Elizabeth’s expression turned icy.
“She wanted me to pull some strings. Chavez’s old man–used to be my junior in school. Had a crush on me. I said no.”
Gemma, “…”
“More importantly, he owes me a favor.”
According to Yvonne.
At Elizabeth’s age, favors were just wasted potential. Might as well cash them in.
“They promised me shares in Doltons. Said they’d help Beasleys make a comeback, put Keagan in a position of power in N.L City.” It sounded tempting.
If Beasleys still wanted Keagan as heir, it would’ve been hard to refuse.
Too bad… Too
Doltons had miscalculated.
