City’s Spotlight: The Hidden Wife of CEO
Chapter 12 The $600,000 Wine
The next morning, Elizabeth woke up on the couch, her back killing her.
She sat up, rubbing her puffy eyes.
Then it hit her–she was back at the Thomas Villa
Dragging herself to the bathroom, she splashed some water on her face. Her eyes were still red and wollen.
After washing up, she slapped a cold compress on her eyes to bring down the swelling.
She took a quick shower, threw on some comly clothes, and hended out for breakfast.
Ever since she found out she was pregnant, Michael had her locked up for two days.
Then came Robert’s funeral.
She’d been Bouncing between the hospital and the funeral, drowning in grief. Food was the last thing on her mind.
She hadn’t had a decent meal in days.
Her hand gently rested on her still–fat belly

Plus, she was starting to feel a dull ache in her stomach.
She promised herself she’d eat well from now on.
After all, she had a long road ahead.
Elizabeth had just stepped into the dining room when she froze.
She glanced up at the clock.
By now, Michael should’ve been at

the office, but there he was, having breakfast without any rush.
Susan called out, “Mrs. Thomas, your breakfast’s ready!”
Elizabeth gave Susan a small smile and walked over, sitting as far from Michael as possible.
Being too close to him really killed her appetite.
She’d always been scared of him. Seeing him every time was like a mouse spotting a cat
Knowing perfectly well how ruthless Michael could be, she tried to avoid any contact with him as much as possible.
It’d be best if he forgot she even existed in the villa.
Michael usually left for the office early.

Every morning, Filzabeth waited for him to leave before coming out of her room.
Today, seeling Michael eating slowly at the table, Elizabeth didn’t freak out like before. She just paused for a second, because she didn’t feel the need to hide anymore.
Now, all she wanted was to get divorced and leave here.
It seemed she didn’t have to fear from him anymore.
Besides, it was Michael who was dingging his feet about the divorce bow,
She figured if she stayed out of his way, she could safely get through the days until the divorce.
The most important thing now was to fill her and her babies b

Next to her, Michael didn’t even look up but suddenly blurted out coldly, “The bottle of wine you broke last night thousand dollars.”
Elizabeth’s hands froze, and the spoon fell into her plate.
That bottle of wine cost six hundred thousand dollars?
What kind of wine cost
more
than gold?
Was he just trying to make her pay for it?
Why else would he bring it up out of nowhere?
Did she look like she had that kind of cash?
A sharp pain hit her stomach, cold sweat broke out on her back, and her appetite vanished.
She straightened up, pale and stiff.
She’d been thinking about starting over and saving Robert’s company
But now, she hadn’t even taken the first step and was already set back by a bottle of wine.
The Jones Group was already a mess and drowning in debt. This was ust adding insult to injury.
Elizabeth sat there, kicking herself.
Why had she been so impulsive last night? Couldn’t she have broken something cheaper?

What now? How could she repay this money?

Michael glanced at her and then quickly looked away. He said sternly This is a warning Next time you break something in tory house, you’ll pay for it.”
After saying that, he signaled to the bodyguard beside him. The bodyguard immediately walked behind him and pushed his wheelchair.
The two left without looking back,
Elizabeth, sitting by the dining table, immediately perked up upon hearing this.
What did he mean?
She
didn’t have to pay? This was a one–time warning? He was letting her off so easily?
Is this really the cold, ruthless, cruel, and terrifying Michael?
Suddenly, Elizabeth’s stomach didn’t hurt anymore, and

She only stopped eating when she felt she couldn’t eat anymore and stood up to leave the dining table.
Sure enough, a good mood increased her appetite.
Elizabeth was well fed. It could also be because she had been hungry for too long.
Many
women would experience morning sickness in early pregnancy, ranging from mild nausea

Her early pregnancy symptoms weren’t that obvious, she hadn’t even vomited.
It could also be because she was
was still young.
Susan saw her finish eating and helped her clean up the dishes. She noticed that the meat on the table was almost untouched.
“Mrs. Thomas, is t
the beaf doesn’t suit your taste?” Susan asked nervously.
“Oh, not at all. It’s just that I’m trying to lose weight recently and feel like more vegetables. Elizabeth shook her head.
Susan quickly replied, “Okay, I’ll keep that in mind.”
Elizabeth had already made up
up her mind at Robert’s funeral a few days ago.
She already had a rough plan for Robert’s company.
