The call connected.
Only then did she speak.
“So what you’re saying is… you actually want me back at Doltons?”
Jarrett watched her fiddle with her phone.
As a lawyer, he was cautious–just in case she was recording him.
But snatching the phone out of her hands?
That was beneath him. He was her uncle, after all. What kind of grown man wrestles with a younger relative over a
So instead, he just smiled.
“I think I made myself very clear earlier.”
His words were deliberately vague—useless, even, if she tried to use them in court.
But on the other end of the line, Kaiya was shaken.
Uncle Jarry went to see Gemma in person?
Absolutely unacceptable.
Everyone at Doltons needed to stand firm–Gemma could not be allowed to reclaim her place in the family.
She just happened to be near the hospital and immediately rushed over.
“You were very clear,” Gemma said with a smile, shutting off her phone and looking up at Jarrett.
“But too bad–I’m not giving you what you want.”
Jarrett frowned.
“You’re sure about this?”
Gemma nodded. “You’re better than most of the Doltons I’ve met.”
“At least you get straight to the point. No beating around the bush, no guilt–tripping, no shady tricks.
So, let’s keep it that way–minding our own business.”
That was all she had to say. She hoped he understood.
Jarrett had come today because of Ashton’s request.
If he failed to get this done, he wouldn’t get the land deal–and his authority would take a hit.
“Gemma, wait.”
He caught up to her, his tone unexpectedly sincere.
“Alright, let’s not talk about your parents. Just you and me.
I’m guessing you don’t have a place to stay in S City yet.
I have a villa at Candrill Hill–I can transfer it to you.”
That villa was worth tens of millions.
A serious offer.
Not far away, Kaiya arrived just in time to hear this.
And it completely threw her off.
Of all the Doltons, Jarrett was the hardest to deal with.
As a lawyer, he was always precise, never giving anyone an inch.
Even her mother, Abigail, had only managed to get a set of jewelry from him as a wedding gift.
And as for her
Years of trying to win him over had only gotten her management rights to a small shopping mall.
No profit–sharing. Nothing substantial
But now?
For Gemma–his actual niece. he was just giving away a whole villa?!
Worth tens of millions?!
Not just pocket change.
The sheer unfairness of it made her blood boil.
phone?

“Uncle Jarry!”
Forget her usual sweet and delicate act–she had to intervene.
Her sudden outburst cut Jarrett off mid–sentence.
His expression darkened instantly.
Kaiya ran up and grabbed his sleeve.
“Uncle Jarry! It really is you! I thought I was seeing things.
Oh, by the way—what are you doing at the hospital? Are you feeling unwell?”
Jarrett forced himself to rein in his irritation.
Forget it.
Kaiya was just a kid–what harm could she do?
Probably just a coincidence that she showed up.
“I’m not sick. I came specifically to see your
sin.”
Gemma raised a brow. “…Yeah, no. I can’t stand that word. Mind having this conversation somewhere else?”
Jarrett & Kaiya, “…”

Kaiya seized the chance to act pitiful.
“Cousin, you’re upset with me, aren’t you? I get it–you think I stole your place.
I can apologize. I’ll give you everything I have.
All I ask is… please don’t make me leave. I just want to stay with Grandma, Grandpa, and my uncles.”
Gemma rolled her eyes.
“Honestly? If I threw you to the Time Square, the whole country could hear you screaming ‘look at me, I’m a pitiful little innocent girl“.”
Kaiya blinked.
Then realized–she’d just been insulted.
Her anger nearly burned through her carefully crafted composure.
But she’d spent years perfecting her innocent act–she wouldn’t go down that easily.
*Uncle Jarry, I shouldn’t have interrupted. I’ll leave now.
I’ll try to stay out of Ms. Kelestine’s way in the future.”
She dabbed at her eyes, playing the victim.
Gemma smiled. “Take care. Bye.”
Then she turned to Jarrett.
“You sure you’re okay letting your precious little niece walk away like that?”
jarrett sighed. “Precious niece? Don’t misuse words.” But then he added, “Just… think about what I said.”
And with that, he actually went after Kaiya.
Gemma let out a breath and strolled out of the hospital.
None of them noticed–Christine had been standing just inside the hallway, listening to everything.
Once they were gone, she finally stepped out.
According to Ashton’s plan, tonight, she was supposed to swap Gemma’s child.
By the time Gemma realized what had happened, her baby would already be undergoing surgery somewhere else.
Everything would go smoothly.
But now.. she hesitated.
If she kept following Athton’s lead, there was no telling when she’d ever get her own way.
Maybe it was time to take a gamble.
She took a deep breath and walked back into the hospital room,
Outside, Gemma spotted Cassius‘ car
She grinned and hopped in
“Another just happened to be passing by‘ situation?”
Cassius handed her an invitation

“I heard they’ve got great archery and skiing facilities. We could go early and try them out.”
Seeing her excitement, Cassius naturally agreed.
“You into archery and skiing?”
“Not really,” Gemma admitted. “Never actually learned either. Just seen them in movies.
But I love sports. When I was a kid, I could climb mountains like it was nothing.
Might as well take this chance to give them a shot.”
Brooke immediately chimed in.
“Ms. Kelestine, you might not know this, but Mr. Cassius is a master at archery.
Skiing too–total legend.
Whether you wanna watch or learn, you’ve found the right teacher.”
Gemma’s eyes lit up.
“Really? Think I could get some free lessons?”
Before Cassius could answer, Brooke cut in.
“Of course! If you wanna learn,
Cassius will teach you everything. He’s even the best freestyle skier in N.L. City!”
Gemma clapped her hands, delighted.
“Great! Let’s bring Mr. Smith and Listen along too.”
She turned to Cassius-
