Chapter 280: Call the Cops on You Fools
The bodyguards had the entire hallway locked down.
Ashton was baffled.
“Dad, what the hell is this?”
“Worried I’ll ruin the family’s reputation?”
“I promise, that’s never gonna happen.”
Jonathan shook his head.
“You’re not leaving. The kid just had surgery and needs to stay in the hospital.”
He was stalling.
Once the kid recovered, the emotions would settle.
Ashton might come to his senses.
Abigail jumped in.
“Ash, you’re not thinking straight. Don’t do anything you’ll regret, how will you ever face the Doltons?”
Ashton
Ashton’s temples throbbed with rage.
“I’m not acting on impulse, and I won’t regret a damn thing.”
“For years, I let Christine down, torn betw

you all and her.”
“If I leave, you still have Jarry and Simon. But Christine… she only has me.”
Jonathan, “…”
Christine, silent till now, finally spoke.
“Please don’t fight because of me.”
“I can give up custody–just let me visit the child.”
She wiped her tears.
“I used to resent you all. Just because of some fortune–teller’s words, you wouldn’t let me be with Ash.”
“But now that I’m a mother, I get it. Parents will do anything to protect their kids from risk.”

“So, I’m willing to step back!”
Madeline sneered.
“Oh? Now that the press is involved, you want to step back?”
Christine’s eyes turned red. “I’ll find a way to explain to the reporters. This was all a misunderstanding.”
Ashton pulled her into his arms.
‘Christine, you’ve already sacrificed too much for me. Now that I’ve made my choice, I’m not letting go.”
Madeline nearly collapsed from anger.
She thought this would be a simple matter, but somehow, Christine had flipped the script.
“Well, there’s a way to fix this.”
Jarrett finally spoke up.
“Let Miss Parrish into the family. Tell the press this was just a lovers‘ quarrel that got out of hand.”
*If she’s willing to take the fall, say she took the kid away, which worsened his condition, so she had to rush him to the hospital.”
“When we Doltons heard, we came running, and in the chaos, things got messy.”
The story was airtight.
Sure, it might dent the Doltons‘ image a little, but nothing major.
The only problem? They’d have to publicly acknowledge Christine.
Jonathan and Madeline weren’t happy.
But with things as they were, they had no choice.
Besides, even if Christine got in, surviving in the Dolton family would be another battle.
“If Jarry says so, then fine.”
Ashton lit up.

“Dad, Mom, you’re really accepting Christine?”
Madeline sighed.
“What choice do I have? The child’s already here. I have to accept it.”
Christine dropped to her knees in gratitude, but Ashton pulled her up, standing firmly by her side.
Gemma had been watching the whole thing.
Honestly, the drama wasn’t as juicy as she’d hoped.
Kind of a waste of all the prep she did.
But…
She glanced at Christine and Abigail, catching the subtle tension between them.
Christine entering the Doltons would definitely stir up trouble.
With them busy dealing with her, they’d have no time to bother her.
As for Margaret?
With this mess out of the way, dealing with Margaret would be even easier.
“You’re leaving already?”
Gemma looked at the Doltons as they prepared to leave.
Everyone had been too caught up in Ashton’s drama to notice her.
Now that she spoke, they finally realized–she’d been here the whole time!
Which meant she’d seen everything.
Jonathan clenched his teeth. He couldn’t risk her running her mouth.
“Gemma, I know what you’re up to. Fine!”
“You’re coming to the Doltons with Christine.”
“One more or one less, doesn’t make a difference.”
“Consider yourself lucky!”
Madeline, seeing he’d made the call, had no choice but to accept.
*You disrespected me and your grandfather before, but I’ll let it slide. From now on, watch your words and don’t disgrace the Doltons.”
Abigail and Kaiya exchanged a look.
Their faces darkened.
They thought they’d finally gotten rid of Ashton. But Jonathan wouldn’t let his son go.
Now, with Christine coming in, things were already tense.
And now Gemma too?
They’d lost this round badly.
Damn it!
Gemma waved a hand dismissively.
“Guys, stop trying to rope me into the Doltons.
That’s your family, not mine.”
Jonathan’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. “You greedy little–1 Still trying to negotiate? Let me warn you, the Doltons‘ reputation won’t be ruined by the likes of you!”
Gemma, “???”
This old man was definitely going deaf.
Was he even listening?
She grabbed a nearby nurse and pulled her over.
“You guys just assaulted my colleague. I already called the cops. They’ll be here soon, so you’re not going anywhere.”
The Doltons were stunned.
Jarrett let out a short laugh. “You what? You called the cops?”
Gemma raised an eyebrow. “Getting bullied and calling the police–isn’t that the right thing to do?
She pointed at the ceiling cameras, her voice cool.
“The whole thing’s on tape. No way to weasel out of this one.”
I know, Mr. Jarrett, you didn’t lay a finger on anyone. And as a top–tier lawyer. I’m sure you’ll get the Doltons off scot free.”

“But I won’t let the hospital staff be treated like dirt. This hospital will press charges.”
Jarrett sighed.
“Is this your decision, or the director’s? Or maybe..….. Mr. Cassius?”
Gemma rolled her eyes.
“Do I really have to spell it out? Getting attacked and calling the police is basic common sense. This has nothing to do with anyone else.”
“You assaulted someone, refused to apologize, refused to pay damages, and now think you can just walk away? Since when does the world work like that?”
Jarrett’s voice dropped.
“Enough. If you push this too far, no one will come out of it looking good. And forget about ever entering the Doltons.”
Gemma smirked.
“That golden cage of yours? I wouldn’t step foot in it if you paid me. No need to test me, Mr. Jarrett.”
The moment she finished speaking, footsteps echoed from around the corner.
She turned her head—
A squad of police officers was marching toward them.
Leading them? Robin.
“You’re all involved in hospital violence. Come with us.”
Robin’s face was stone–cold as he waved his hand. The officers moved in, restraining the entire group.
