Chapter 281: Thanks For The Help
The Doltons crew was completely dumbfounded.
They were so shocked that when the cops stepped forward to arrest them, they just stood there, frozen.
How many years had it been?
In S City, the police practically worked for the Doltons.
They were always the ones making the calls, having the cops deal with troublemakers.
Who would’ve thought that one day, they would be the ones getting hauled away?
Jonathan cared about his reputation more than anything. Being pinned down by the cops made his face turn an ugly shade of purple from rage, like he could barely breathe.
“Let me go!”
Madeline’s face looked even worse.
She shoved at the officer next to her, but she wasn’t strong enough–barely managed to push his hand off.
“How dare you lay a hand on me? Do you even know who I am?”
Robin blinked and turned to Gemma.
“Alzheimer’s?”
The people around them barely held back their laughter.
Some couldn’t resist, their shoulders shaking as they tried to keep it in.
Luckily, Gemma had enough self–control. Even though she was laughing inside, her expression remained perfectly composed.
“Not officially diagnosed yet.”
The response was vague, but it somehow made Robin’s comment sound even more spot–on.
The people who had been holding back completely lost it.
Madeline was someone who cared about appearances. Being humiliated in public like this made her chest tighten–she couldn’t breathe, couldn’t catch her breath–until she just collapsed backward.
“Mom!”
Abigail quickly caught her.
Sure, she wanted to inherit the fortune, but only if the will was in place.
L
Pight now, there was no will. And as an adopted daughter, not even officially on the family register, she had zero legal claim.
And with Jarry being a lawyer? If this turned into a legal battle, she wouldn’t stand a chance.
“Mom, are you okay? Don’t scare me!”
Kaiya immediately stepped forward.
“Gemma! How could you be so cruel?”
Gemma spread her hands.
“I didn’t even do anything. That’s considered bullying? What about the part where you guys went around attacking people?”
She kept the little nurse shielded behind her, making sure nothing that happened would drag her into the mess.
“And besides…”
She glanced at Madeline, still slumped in Abigail’s arms, then let out a soft chuckle. A second later, she pulled out a silver needle–twenty centimeters long.
“If she’s unconscious, we need to act fast. I can wake her up.”
‘After all, everyone from the Doltons was here when the attack happened.”
“We need every single person’s testimony to seal the case airtight.”
“Officer Robin, let me handle this.”
“You know, in some country, they use needle to cure people. I recently pick it up. If I stab the right spot in the brain, she’ll wake up instantly.”
Robin, ever cooperative, stepped aside.
*Alright then, we’ll leave it to you, Dr. Kelestine”
Gemma smiled and slowly approached, needle in hand.
Madeline kept her eyes shut, but her hands were trembling uncontrollably.

Kaiya stepped in front of her.
“That’s your grandmother! She came all the way from S City for you, and this is how you treat her?”
Gemma raised a brow. “So what should I do instead? Stand here and watch her die when I could save her?”
Kaiya opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Abigail’s eyes were red with anger.
“You know she’s an elderly woman, completely defenseless, yet you still accuse her of attacking someone. Do you even have a heart?”
Gemma looked genuinely confused.
“If you already know everything that happened, why didn’t you say something earlier? What’s stopping you? Is it really more important than her life?”
Abigail, “…”
Gemma moved in, the needle gleaming.
Her eyes carried a hint of amusement.
Oh, moral blackmail?
She could play that game too.
“If you won’t say anything, then I’ll just wake her up and let her speak for herself.”
She raised the needle.
Abigail wanted to stop her but hesitated–afraid she’d fall into Gemma’s verbal traps again.
Those last few lines had already drawn Jarry’s attention to her.
And the rest of the Doltons crew? They were all worried about Madeline’s health. Like it or not, Gemma was a real medical expert.
“Hah!”
Just as Gemma was about to make her move, Madeline’s eyes snapped open. She bolted upright.
“Mom, you’re okay!”
Abigail was overjoyed, throwing her arms around her.
Madeline, genuinely, clung back.
She’d never cared much for this daughter before, but right now… she actually felt something real.
“Good girl, I’m fine.”
Robin gave a nod. “Well then, since the madame’s doing fine, you’ll all be coming with us.”
With that, the officers moved in again, restraining the Doltons group.
Jarret, meanwhile, had already reached out to some contacts in N.L City.
This whole situation could be blown up or smoothed over–it all depended on the little nurse’s stance.
He turned to look at Gemma.
She stood calmly in the crowd, her expression peaceful, almost serene.
At first glance, she seemed as delicate as an orchid blooming in a secluded valley.
But if you looked closer, there was a quiet strength about her–something steady, unshakable.
With her around, people felt… secure.
She wasn’t ordinary.
At the very least, she wasn’t as simple as the Doltons had assumed.
Jarret couldn’t help but wonder-
If she were willing to join the Doltons, she could take them to new heights.
But if she was determined to side with Mr. Cassius… Then she was their enemy.
It was time for the Doltons to make a decision about Gemma.
As the crowd dispersed, the little nurse followed, needing to press charges and get a medical examination.
Soon, only Gemma and Christine remained.
“Dr. Kelestine, I never got the chance to thank you.”
Christine’s voice was sincere, her eyes filled with gratitude.
“You’re an incredible doctor. If you ever need anything, just say it,” Gemma had heard enough flattery in her life to be immune to it.
She simply smiled, looking Christine up and down.

“You hid your identity from me on purpose from the start, didn’t you?”
“And now, thanks to my reputation, you’ve revealed yourself to the world in front of the media.”
“Smart move.”
Christine looked startled, a flicker of guilt crossing her face.
“Dr. Kelestine, you’ve got it all wrong, I-”
“The child’s surgery was a success. Even if you leave this hospital, they’ll survive.”
“So let’s not pretend anymore.”
Christine’s panic faded. She gradually composed herself.
“You really are full of surprises, Dr. Kelestine.”
“And you are quite something yourself,” Gemma said, completely sincere. “I hope that once you’re in the Doltons, you fight for what’s rightfully
yours.”
Christine’s eyes widened.
“You…”
“Relax. Whatever you want, I don’t care for it. In fact-” Gemma smirked. “I wish you the best of luck tearing the Doltons apart.”
Christine finally caught on.
“You want me to stir up chaos there. Do you have a grudge against them?”
Gemma tilted her head. “Why would you think that?”
Christine studied her but didn’t answer.
Maybe she’d figured something out. Eventually, she straightened up and spoke again.
“Well then—thank you for your help.”
