Chapter 17
Mason had secretly envied Ronald countless times.
He hoped Ronald wouldn’t regret it later.
Ronald, reeking of alcohol, was dropped off at his villa by the driver
Leaning against the car door, Ronald pulled out a lighter and lit a cigarette, placing it between his lips.
The faint glow of the cigarette flickered at his fingertips as he stood with his back to the villa.
On nights when he returned from social events, he would always see light left on by Elsie and a cup of ginger tea waiting for him.
But now, there was probably no one to do that for him anymore.
He took a deep drag from his cigarette and then exhaled slowly.
A wave of inexplicable emotion washed over Ronald, making him feel desolate, as if the whole world had abandoned him.
It wasn’t until he finished the entire cigarette that he turned around.
When he saw the lights on in the villa, his heart suddenly raced.
He didn’t even realize how excited he was at that moment.
Could it be that Elsie had come back?
Maybe all the fuss Elsie made was just a tactic to get him to stay away from Missy?
Ronald stood still, thinking that his constant care for Missy might have caused misunderstandings. As long as Elsie stopped mentioning divorce, he was willing to send Missy abroad to be taken care of.
He brushed off the smell of alcohol from his clothes and staggered eagerly towards the villa.
At the door, he took a deep breath and opened it, only to see a candlelit dinner set up in the hall.
A faint joy spread in his heart.
But before he could fully savor that joy, he saw Missy sitting at the head of the table.
Missy was wearing a white, high–slit, strapless nightgown, her figure slightly plump due to her pregnancy.
Her ample breasts were enticingly wrapped in lace.
Her hair was half–down, and every move she made was deliberately seductive.
Her voice was as coquettish as ever, “Ronald, you’re back?”
Ronald’s heart sank instantly, the joy on his face vanishing instantly
He avoided Missy’s outstretched hand, rubbing his temples as a sudden headache throbbed. “What are you doing here?”
Missy replied, “I saw Elsie’s post and got worried about you, so I came over.”

“Ronald, what happened to your hand? Let me see! Missy’s eyes fell on Ronald’s hand.
With a gasp, she grabbed it and placed it on her chest.
Elsie had finally left, and Ronald was so drunk!
If she didn’t take this chance to get closer to Ronald, she’d be letting herself down.
Ronald yanked his hand back with such force that Missy almost fell
He looked at her with a sharp gaze, his face showing no trace of drunkenness. “It’s late. You should go.”
Missy’s playful smile froze on her face, quickly replaced by a look of fragile sorrow, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Ronald, what did I do wrong? I was just worried about you.”
Ronald walked past Missy towards the sofa, not sparing a glance at the elaborate candlelit dinner.
He sat on the sofa, his deep eyes fixed on Missy. Even drunk, he sat with a straight back, exuding an extraordinary aura.
“I don’t need your concern. Dina, call the driver to take Missy home.
Ronald called out to the maid, but after a while, no one responded.
His tone grew impatient, “I’ll call the driver to take you home!”
Unbeknownst to Ronald, Missy had sent the maid away to ensure they would be alone tonight.
Naturally, no one would come.
Missy’s voice grew more pitiful, “Ronald, I’m only here for you. You’re so drunk; let me take care of you, okay?”
As she spoke, she sat beside Ronald, leaning half of her body into his embrace, her high–slit gown revealing her long legs.
Ronald stood up abruptly and walked to the villa door, heading straight to the car. He opened the door and shouted. “I told you to take Missy home, didn’t you hear me?”
The driver, waiting in the car, was stunned by Ronald’s voice.
When had Ronald arranged this?
The driver quickly got out of the car and respectfully opened the door. “Mr. York, is Ms. Forbes here?”
Ronald took a deep breath, his head pounding. “She’s inside. Go get her and take her home. Be gentle and eareful with her
pregnancy.”
The driver obediently went inside and brought Missy out.
Seeing Ronald’s growing impatience, Missy didn’t push her luck.
She feared it would backfire, “Ronald, rest well. I’ll come see you tomorrow.”
“No need. Your baby is due soon. Stay home and take care of yourself Ronald replied with a frown, not looking at Missy‘ again as he walked back inside.
Missy got into the car, letting the driver take her home.

Chapter 17
Once home, her previously cofaposed and considerate demeanor vanished.
She threw her bag onto the sofa in a fit of tage.
Did Ronald think she couldn’t see through him?
He kept talking about divorcing Elsie, but he got drunk because of her?
She sat on the sofa and sent the carefully taken photos of the candlelit dinner and the ones she had secretly taken of Ronald sleeping to Elsie.
JElsie, you’d better sign the divorce papers quickly and stop coveting what’s not yours!
Elsie received the message just after finishing her physical therapy. Her hand hadn’t fully recovered yet; she could manage simple piano pieces but was far from ready for competitions.
She gazed at the photo of Ronald slumped asleep on the sofa, noting the resemblance in his features to Cedric’s. Her heart suddenly clenched with pain.
Elsie took a deep breath, initially intending to block Missy.
But thinking about Ronald’s inconsistent stance on the divorce, she hesitated.
After a moment of thought, she typed a message.
[Ronald hasn’t sent me the divorce papers yet. Is he having second thoughts?]
[Tell him that if he can make you disappear from my sight forever, I agree not to divorce.]
As soon as she sent the messages, Elsie blocked Missy.
Missy, upon reading the message, was furious. In the middle of the night, she smashed half the items in her room, causing the neighbors to complain.
.But when she tried to retaliate, she found that Elsie had blocked her.
Seething with rage, she felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.
Fearing for her baby, she lay in bed, not daring to move.
After blocking Missy, Elsie was about to turn off her phone when she received a call.
Seeing the name on the screen, she hesitated but answered.
