Chapter 25
** THE he battered teen being out, and for a foutment.
if all the pain had enished
Thanks, Molly‘
She patted Molly’s fluffy little head, letting the girl hold her hand lead her outside.
Molly stopped at the door of the next room, refuting to go any further. Instead, the gestured for Elsie to open the door herself.
Elsie, puzzled, grasped the doorknob and gently pushed the door open.
Confetti burst at the doorway.
Brilliant streamers burst overhead in sync with the sound, drifting gently down to adorn Elsie’s hair, resembling blossoming flowers.
Bruce stood there with a warm smile, his eyes full of blessings. “Elsie congrats on being able to speak!”
Albert maintained a respectful distance, a faint smile on his face as he held up a banner that read, [Congrats Ms. Forbes on Speaking!]
The crooked handwriting was clearly done by the children.
Elsie was stunned, but before she could say anything, the kids from the care center swarmed her, hugging her tightly.
Their faces were all lit up with bright smiles.
“Congrats, Ms. Forbes!”
Some of the younger kids, thinking it was Elsie’s birthday, joined in the excitement, shouting, “Happy Birthday, Ms. Forbes!”
Some adults found it amusing and chuckled quietly.
Elsie crouched down to hug the children. She hadn’t realized she could speak now. But faced with such a grand surprise, she felt she had to say something to honor the celebration.
So, as she embraced the kids, she mustered all her strength, her face turning red, and squeezed out a word from her throat.
“Okay.”
That simple word caused another round of excited gasps from the children. Those closest to her touched her neck and face, as if she were a Barbie doll, trying to figure out how she made the sound.
Bruce watched the scene with amusement, feeling both relieved and purely joyful about Elsie’s potential to speak in the future.
Bruce joyfully said, “Alright, let’s have some cake!”
One kid said, “Yay! Cake time!”
Another kid said, “At last, we get to eat the cake! I’ve been waiting so long I’m practically salivating!”
Elsie gratefully looked at Bruce, thanking him for rescuing her from the sweet burden.
Albert began cutting the cake into pieces for the kids.

Chapter 25
Bruce walked over to Elsie, placing a pointy party hat on her head. Congrats on being able to speak. Even though you can only make simple sounds now, you’ll fully recover one day.”
Elsie smiled, letting Bruce do as he pleased.
She playfully gestured with her hands, “This hat isn’t reused from someone else’s birthday, is it?”
Bruce laughed, winking playfully. “You guessed it!”
Then his tone turned serious. “Elsie, stay here for treatment. There’s good chance you’ll recover. Once I’m done with my work here, we can go back to Novaria together.”
“Treatment can’t be interrupted. If it is, all the progress will be lost.
Elsie looked into Bruce’s eyes, understanding his–implication.
If she refused to continue treatment, it meant she would have to endure the pain she had just experienced all over again.
Seeing Elsie fall silent, Bruce didn’t push her to decide immediately.
He patted her shoulder, comforting her. “It’s okay; take your time to think about it and let me know.”
Albert, watching from a distance, brought over a plate of cake, handed it to Elsie, and left without a word, as if he was just delivering cake.
But if Albert was delivering cake, why didn’t he bring one for Bruce too?
Meanwhile, Missy was getting anxious as Ronald not only didn’t answer her call but hung up on her.
Yesterday, Monica had forced Elsie not to divorce Ronald.
Could Elsie be having second thoughts?
Missy frowned, standing up from the couch.
No way! She couldn’t let that happen!
An hour later, at the York Group Building.
Missy stood in the lobby, eyeing the well–dressed receptionist with a mix of apprehension and dislike.
Who was this receptionist trying to seduce with such a flashy outfit?
“I need to go to the top floor, to the CEO’s office. Why won’t you let me? Don’t you know who I am?” The receptionist maintained a polite smile, speaking softly. “I’m sorry, Miss, but without an appointment, you can’t go up.”
Missy frowned, glancing at the receptionist’s name tag, her lips forming a tight line. “Cindy, do you believe I’ll have HR fire you?”
Cindy acted as if she hadn’t heard, gently pushing away a colleague who tried to intervene, still smiling. “My apologies, Miss, but the company’s regulations are firm and cannot be altered.”
“What do you mean by that? Are you doing this on purpose?” Missy was infuriated and was about to assert her identity when Ronald’s assistant pulled her back.
He had rushed down from the top floor’s secretary office upon hearing the commotion.

Chapter 25
Ronald’s personal assistant, Teddy Miller, was a hardworking man who had been with Ronald since he graduated a few years ago.
Though not yet thirty, he was already starting to get gray hairs.
“Ms. Forbes, what brings you here?”
Teddy held Missy back, signaling Cindy to go back to her work and stop provoking Missy.
Missy was nothing like the gentle and polite Elsie, who would apologize for any inconvenience. Missy was a spoiled heiress who loved to throw her weight around.
Sure enough, Missy snapped, “How does your company hire people? How can someone so unprofessional be a receptionist?
“The receptionist represents the company’s first impression. Don’t you know how important that is?”
“Fire her. I’m doing this for the company’s good, you know?”
Teddy’s smile froze on his face.
Missy wasn’t even married to their CEO yet, and she was already arrogant like this. If she became the CEO’s wife, what would his life be like?
Maybe he should just quit.
