Chapter 28
After indulging in enough adulation from her close friend, Missy reluctantly hung up the phone.
She couldn’t hide the smug look on her face as she poured herself a glass of red wine, inhaling the luxurious aroma and falling into deep thought.
If Elsie and Ronald were really in a cooling–off period before their divorce, why did Ronald ignore her today?
Could it be that he still had feelings for Elsie?
No way! How could Ronald possibly be interested in that mute girl?
She thought for a moment and then sent a message to her private investigator to track Elsie’s whereabouts.
Within two hours, the investigator replied.
Missy nearly exploded with anger when she saw the message.
Elsie was still in the country?
Wasn’t she supposed to settle in Novaria?
Why hadn’t she gone back to Novaria yet?
Fuming, she threw her phone onto the couch.
Could Elsie be playing hard to get with Ronald?
Missy stewed in anger all night and headed to the sanatorium where Elsie was staying the next morning.
At the sanatorium, everyone had just finished breakfast, and it was time for the kids‘ activities.
-After Missy arrived at the sanatorium, Missy went straight to the nurse’s station and bluntly asked the nurse on duty. “Is Elsie here?”
The older nurse glanced at her and asked routinely, “What’s your relationship with her?”
Missy knew she was in the right place. “I’m her cousin. I want to visit her.”
“Alright, please sign in.” The nurse placed a sign–in book in front of Missy and went back to her work.
Missy’s face instantly darkened as she recalled the incident from yesterday when the York Group’s receptionist had adamantly insisted that she register.
She was about to lose her temper but held it back, fearing she might be kicked out.
She signed in, and the nurse told her where Elsie’s room was, then went back to her duties.
The sanatorium was understaffed, so no one had time to accompany Missy. She had to find her way.
Missy entered the courtyard, curiously observing the surroundings.
She had expected it to be a mental hospital, just with a nicer name.

Chapter 281
To her surprise, the environment was genuinely therapeutict
Just then, a child ran into her from the aide.
She stumbled, almost falling, but someone caught her just in time.
Missy clutched the person’s sleeve with one hand and held her stomach with the other, breaking out in a cold, sweat.
If she had fallen, her baby could have been in danger.
Her sharp eyes fell on the child who had bumped into her, and she slapped the child without a second thought.
Missy cursed, “Where are your parents? Didn’t they teach you not to un around in public?”
She raised her hand to slap again, but the person who had caught he grabbed her hand.
She turned to see a young boy’s stern face.
Seeing he was just a boy, her anger flared even more.
“Who do you think you are?”
“What? She bumped into me without even a word of apology; why shouldn’t I hit her? She has no manners at all.”
Albert’s face darkened. He stepped in front of Molly, who looked confused and apologetic.
His eyes were cold and disdainful as he looked at Missy. “She’s a hearing–impaired child. She can’t speak or hear you.”
“What? Another mute?” Missy rolled her eyes, even more disdainful. So what if she’s hearing–impaired? Does that mean she doesn’t have to apologize for bumping into someone?”
“Do you know who my baby is?”
“The future heir of the York Group, someone you poor people could never dream of associating with!”
“Not only can I slap you, but if you make me unhappy, I can have this sanatorium shut down!”
Not far away, Elsie, who had just emerged from the examination room, found the voice increasingly familiar and sensed that something was amiss.
In a hurry, she ran over to check, and her worst fears were confirmed
The arrogant voice was indeed Missy’s.
She quickly stepped in front of Albert and Molly, her brows furrowed with anger.
Her hands moved with forceful, angry gestures. “What are you doing here? You’re not welcome!”
Missy, seeing Elsie, felt her own anger flare up. “You think I want to be here?”
“Why haven’t you gone back to Novaria? Aren’t you and Ronald in a cooling–off period? No one likes you here. Why are you still
around?”
Seeing more kids gathering, Albert worried things might escalate and sent Molly to find Bruce.

Chapter 28
Elsie’s face was cold, her eyes filled with frustration and anger,
She had already retreated so much; why would Missy and Ronald sti pester her?
“Where I am is none of your business. What right do you have to question me?
“You’re not even married to Ronald yet. Even if you were, what right do you have to question me?”
Elsie’s gestures were sharp and loud, her anger clear.
Missy rolled her eyes, looking down at her. “What right? How about the right of being the mother of Ronald’s child?”
“Elsie! You’re such a hypocritical woman. How did I not see how manipulative you are before? You’re clearly on the brink of divorce, yet you remain in the country. Are you hoping to win Ronald back?
“Dream on! As long as I’m here, you can forget about it!”
Missy moved to push Elsie.
“You’re lying! You’re the bad woman. Ms. Forbes is a good person!”
Several kids glared at Missy, as if she were the Big Bad Wolf.
Just then, a man hurried over with Molly in his arms.
It was Bruce!
Bruce asked, “What happened?”
Albert quickly recounted the events, including Missy’s insults.
Bruce’s face darkened. He stood beside Elsie, his tone colder than ever. “First, I apologize on Molly’s behalf for bumping into you.”
Missy smirked. “Finally, someone sensible.”
But her smirk froze, turning into a twisted look of disbelief. “What did you say?”
Bruce’s voice grew even colder. “I said, you need to apologize to Molly and Elsie!”
