She glanced at the screen and saw it was Josie calling
As soon as she answered, Josie’s overly sweet and flattering voice came through.
“Hey, Missy! Got any plans today? We shopped all day yesterday, and I’m so sore. I just booked a spa appointment. Wanna join me?”
Missy’s voice was sharp and irritated. “No way, I don’t have time. Go by yourself.”
Josie instantly sensed that Missy was in a bad mood. Knowing she needed Missy to foot the bill for their outing, her tone softened, dripping with concern.
“What happened? Who’s got you all riled up this time?”
Missy suddenly felt like venting. She plopped down on the couch, kicking away the debris at her feet in disgust. “You wouldn’t believe it. My cousin Elsie, despite entering the divorce cooling–off period with Ronald, still clings to him. It’s driving me crazy.”
“If it weren’t for her, I would’ve married Ronald. She stole him from me and now she still won’t let go. How shameless is she!”
Josie’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“Your cousin is such a piece of work. How can she cling to something that’s not hers? It’s disgusting. Even if she keeps a close watch on Mr. York, it’s futile. Mr. York’s heart belongs to you!”
Missy loved hearing that.
A smug smile spread across her face. “Exactly, you get me.”
Josie’s tone was familiar, like they’d been best friends forever.
“Of course. But Mr. York is too gentle, too much of a gentleman.”
Josie’s voice carried a hint of pride, skilled in manipulating men. “If he broke Elsie’s heart and pushed her to the edge, she wouldn’t want to cling to him anymore.”
“Elsie would escape as fast as she could!”
Missy paused, her mind racing as she realized the key point, “Got it. The spa’s on me. You go ahead and have fun today. I have something to take care of,”
“Let’s catch up another day!”
Without waiting for Josie to respond, she hung up the phone.

After hanging up, she immediately called Ranald.
It took three tries before he finally answered,
Missy’s expression was sour, but her voice betrayed nothing. “Ronald got time later? How about we grab lunch together?”
Ronald’s voice was calm, hiding his impatience well. “I’m swamped with work today. No time.”
“Ronald, you haven’t had a proper meal with me since you got back. How can you treat me like this? You know I have no one else to rely on but you!”
Missy’s heartbroken voice came through the phone, and Ronald’s face darkened instantly.
However, when he recalled the life–saving grace Missy had bestowed upon him in her childhood, coupled with the deeds Elsie had done to her, he instantly suppressed his own irritation..
His tone softened. “I really don’t have time. I have a video conference with an overseas company at noon. I can’t miss it.”
But what he heard next was a sharp scream. “Ah! Help! Ronald, help! My stomach hurts so much!”
Ronald immediately stood up from the conference room, ignoring the puzzled looks from his colleagues, grabbed his jacket, and ran
out.
“Missy, what’s wrong? Did you fall?”
The call abruptly ended, and Ronald’s worry and fear grew.
Could Missy have really fallen?
In less than half an hour, Ronald had run countless red lights to get to Missy’s apartment.
Following closely behind him was an ambulance.

He had called for one, fearing he wouldn’t g
The paramedics followed Ronald up the stairs, watching him punch the door code and rush inside with a stretcher.
Inside, they found Missy sitting on the couch, applying lipstick.
Missy’s face turned pale when she saw two strange men burst in.
When she saw Ronald behind them, her eyes welled up with tears, and she quickly shoved the lipstick under the couch.”
She covered her face with her hands, wiping off the overly bright lipstick.
She had planned to use her supposed injury to lure Ronald in, seduce him, and take intimate photos to send to Elsie.
By then, even if Elsie still harbored lingering feelings for Ronald, she would certainly no longer hold any affection for him.
Even if Ronald got mad, he wouldn’t lash out at her, considering she was pregnant.
But she hadn’t expected paramedics to show up first.
With so many people around, she couldn’t use her seduction tactics

The paramedics glanced at Missy, who seemed, perfectly fine, then back at Ronald. ‘She looks quite far along. As her husband, how can you leave her alone at home? What if something were to happen
The other paramedic, who had quickly checked Missy, stood up. “Shy seems fine, but she still needs to go to the hospital for a thorough examination to be certain.”
Ronald wanted to correct them, saying he wasn’t Missy’s husband, but seeing her still crying, he softened and didn’t argue
