Chapter 12
I was lying on the couch, gasping for breath.
Suddenly remembered.
“Hey, how did you come to know Shaun? Was he with me all the time when I went to the hospital?”
“How did you have the chance to confess to me? It doesn’t sound right.”
Amold remained silent for a moment and handed me the phone.
“Mona, since it was like this, I won’t hide it from you anymore.”
“My father and the Chapman family were old friends, but my parents were also divorced, so I grew up with my mother.”
Every year during the winter and summer vacations, I would go back to Washington, D.C., and meet Shaun, whom I had known since childhood.
I stared at the string of numbers in the mobile banking app.
“One, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand… damn!”
“How come all of you are millionaires, but not me? Don’t I have any hidden identity? I refuse to accept it!”
Arnold smiled.
“It’s all for you, it’s all yours.”
“I had told you before that I had money, but you never believed me.”

I was stunned.
In the past, Arnold said he wanted to buy a wedding house, and he chose the most luxurious location. The house was over 300 square meters.
I was scolded harshly by me.
I knew his parents divorced, and his mom was just an ordinary middle school teacher.
Amold graduated from university a few years ago, and in the first few years as a doctor, his income was not high. All things considered, how much money could he save?
Couldn’t afford it at all.
Los Angeles house prices are expensive. I want to buy a three–bedroom apartment that is good in all aspects, at least it will cost four to five million.
I forced Arnold to save money with me.
These three years of hardship were all self–inflicted by me.
I slapped Arnold’s thigh in anger.
“How come you are willing to tell me now?”
Arnold grabbed my hand.
Lawrence said you were so happy that you almost flew up when you received 150,000 dollars.
“I was afraid because Shaun was so rich.”
Pausing for a moment, Arnold looked at me with a serious expression on

his face.
“Mona, he had everything that I had.”
I gave you everything I could.
“Stay by my side, okay?“,
I was being arrogant.
“Judging by your performance – hey, what are you doing, let go of me.”
Arnold held my ankle and dragged me underneath him.
“Wasn’t it about judging my performance?“
