Chapter 13
Arnold was called away by the hospital’s emergency phone, and I was left alone at home, sleeping in complete darkness.
When I opened my eyes again, it was already the afternoon of the next day.
I was famished, so I called for takeout.
Half an hour later, the sound of the delivery guy’s confusion could be heard from the phone.
“Hello, there is someone at your doorstep, he stole my takeout.”
I walked over in slippers and opened the door.
Shaun stood outside the door, with red eyes, a scruffy beard, and holding my bag of takeout in his hand.
Seeing me open the door, he walked in by himself without saying a word.
The delivery guy asked me if I wanted him to call the police.
I shook my head.
“No need, he was my friend.”
After knowing the whole story, I didn’t reject Shaun as much as I did at the beginning, and I didn’t think he was sick.
However, the door was still deliberately kept open.
Shaun looked around, his voice dry and hoarse.

“Did you live with Arnold?”
I took the takeout bag from his hand, opened it, and took out box by box.
“Mr. Chapman, have we settled our accounts? What else do you have to do?”
“Moon.”
Shaun called me in a hoarse voice, with a dim gaze and a bitter expression.
“Who was 1?”
“Mr. Chapman, the president of the Chapman Group.”
Shaun’s eyes darkened, faintly welling up with tears.
I hesitantly answered, “The Prince of Washington, D. C.?”
“National sweetheart?”
“Diamond King?”
Shaun self–mockingly curled up the corners of his mouth.
“You really forgot about me.”
Pausing for a moment, he choked and said, “Last night, I had someone investigate your situation over the past few years.”
“You lost your memory.”
“Mona, I would rather you hate me, I don’t want you to forget me.”
Shaun suddenly walked over and forcefully grabbed my arm, raising his voice uncontrollably, “How could you forget about me?”

“Ah–ah, let go!”
I aimed the chopsticks at his eyes.
“If you keep messing around, I will stab you to death.”
Shaun obediently let go of my hand and looked at me with a deeply pained expression.
“You were completely different from before.”
“Of course, I was never that Mona.”
Afraid that he was recording, I answered without revealing a single drop. while opening my lunchbox and starting to eat ramen with big bites.
Shaun looked at me for a while, pulled out a chair, and sat across from
- me.
He quietly watched me eat, without saying a word.
As he was watching, he suddenly smiled gently.
“You used to chew food using the left side.”
“I would take a few bites of noodles and then have a big sip of water.”
“Cough, cough, cough!”
I quickly put down the water cup.
“You are Mona, right? Your habits haven’t changed at all. How come you. just don’t remember me?”
Shaun’s eyes were bloodshot.
I handed him a tissue and comforted him, “People cannot come back to

life, Mr. Chapman. Please accept my condolences.”
Shaun did not grab a tissue, but instead, he held my hand.
“Mona, I asked the doctor, and they said that with enough stimulation, it might be possible to recover the memory.”
“Shall we go to France? Have another chance at love, start over.”
“Nerve! Mr. Chapman, if you continue like this, I will call the police. Just speak, don’t get physical, okay?”
I forcefully slapped Shaun’s hand and issued an eviction order.
Shaun refused to give up.
He said, “I used to love him to death.”
No matter how he humiliated me, I just refused to leave,
The three letters of Shaun have been engraved in my bones, fused into my blood, unable to be detached from my life.
This is what I told him.
I was paranoid, fanatical, burning myself like fireworks, loving him with all my might.
He didn’t believe that I could possibly forget all of this.
I stuffed the plastic bag back into his hand.
“Mr. Chapman, when you go downstairs, please help me take out the trash. Thank you.”
Then, without any mercy, he slammed the door shut.
