Chapter 7
The auction had barely started when Alpha Franklin went full billionaire mode. Every time I so much as glanced at an item, he raised his paddle without hesitation. It was like he had a limitless supply of money. His generosity? Not exactly touching. More like nauseating. Meanwhile, Claire sat a few rows away, glaring at us like we’d stolen her last coin.
Needing a break from all the drama, I excused myself to the restroom.
Claire, apparently not satisfied with glaring from a distance, decided to follow me.
She locked the door behind her, leaning against it with a triumphant sneer. “Feeling smug today, aren’t you, Sirena?” Her voice

was dripping with malice.
“Let me remind you, Franklin only feels guilty about you, not love.” She stepped closer.
“Remember when you were pregnant? The pup was three months along. I cried and screamed, saying I couldn’t handle seeing another woman carry his child. So what did Alpha Franklin do? He gave you an abortifacient without a second thought.”
She leaned in, “And when I had kidney failure? Guess who donated a kidney? That’s right, you! He didn’t even blink. Oh, and about the bridge incident–he said he hated me to ‘protect you, but really, he just wanted you to suffer all this for me. Whenever and wherever I need something, he will satisfy me completely.
She chuckled darkly, brushing her dress.

“Face it, Sirena. You’ve already lost. Completely.”
She’d think her grand finale would send me into a rage. Instead, I turned off the faucet, looked her straight in the eye, and said, “Are you done?”
Claire blinked, momentarily stunned.
I grabbed a paper towel, dried my hands, and calmly said, “Because I don’t care.”
That, threw her off completely. “What do you mean, you don’t care?!” she sputtered.
Before I could respond, Claire’s expression shifted dramatically. She raised her hand and–slap!-she hit herself. Hard.
The next second, Alpha Franklin rushed in.

“Sirena! What are you doing?” His voice was sharp as he shoved me back. I stumbled, my lower back colliding with the edge of the decorative table. Pain shot through me, but Alpha Franklin didn’t even glance my way. All his attention was on Claire, who was now sniffling and looking pathetically fragile.
“Franklin, don’t blame Sirena. It’s all my fault,” Claire whimpered, pressing her reddened cheek.
And just like that, Alpha Franklin scooped her up, his face a mix of anger and concern. He turned to me briefly, his tone cold. “I thought I’d already compensated you. Why are you still bullying Claire?”
Alpha Franklin’s face was gloomy. He picked up Claire and turned to leave.
Claire leaned in his arms, looking back at me

with a victorious smile.
Leaning against the restroom wall, I laughed and laughed until tears came out.
Ten years. Ten years of loving Alpha Franklin, and what did I have to show for it?
That night, Alpha Franklin didn’t come home. And honestly? I didn’t care. My heart wasn’t just broken–it was dead. No more worrying about him or wondering where he was. I was done.
To mark my newfound freedom, I threw myself a farewell party.
My friends had too much to drink and their eyes were red as they cursed Alpha Franklin.
“You’ve given him everything! He’s trash!” one of them slurred.

Another added, “Alpha Roderick’s been in love with you since college! You should’ve married him instead of that jackass.”
I just smiled and drank my wine.
After the party, I stood in the hotel corridor, sobering up and soaking in the rare peace.
That’s when I heard it–the sound of Alpha Franklin’s voice. He was arguing with Beta Zack at the end of the hallway.
“You’ve gone too far, a! Claire says she wants a pup, so you’re just going to give her one? What about Sirena? You’ve already taken her kidney, her pup–what’s left of her to take?”
Alpha Franklin’s voice was terrifyingly calm. “If I don’t have a pup with her, she’ll find
someone else. I can’t stand that.”

“What about Sirena?” Beta Zack almost roared. “Do you live up to her!” Alpha Franklin was silent for a while and then said indifferently. “Aren’t I already going to marry her? Isn’t that enough?”
I stood frozen, nails digging into my palms.
And this argument was coming to an end. Unable to persuade Alpha Franklin, Beta Zack angrily flung his hand and left.
Alpha Franklin also turned and left.
I somehow followed Alpha Franklin and watched him enter a suite.
The door wasn’t closed tightly. Through the crack, I saw Alpha Franklin pinning Claire to the bed, unbuckling his belt as he lowered his head to kiss her, his voice hoarse. “Claire,

let’s have a pup.”
She giggled, wrapping her arms around him. “What about Sirena?”
He paused, then said with chilling indifference, “She won’t know.”
I stood outside the door, quietly watching the whole process, and then raised my phone to record it all.
This time, I didn’t even shed a tear.
Because when the heart is dead, there’s no more pain.
