“Baby, they were just joking around. You’re taking it way too seriously,” Lucas said, trying to soothe me.
I yanked my hand from his grip, my voice. cold. “Go play your stupid games. I’m going upstairs to rest.”
Just as I turned to leave, Lucas stepped in front of me, holding out a glass of milk.
“Drink this first. It’s for your calcium. Then you can rest.”
I stared at the glass in his hand. A sudden shiver crawled down my spine.
“You… what are you trying to do?”

“I’m just worried you’re low on calcium this late in the pregnancy. I’m trying to help. Or do you seriously not trust me anymore?” He still wore that fake, concerned expression.
I knocked the glass away. “I said I don’t want it.”
His face darkened instantly.
“I’ve been more than patient with you today. This is for your own good. Don’t make a scene. Just drink it.”
“Lucas, don’t be so aggressive.”

“If Selene doesn’t want it, don’t force her. She’s pregnant, Lucas. You should be more understanding.”

Emily appeared right on cue, gracefully placing a cup of hot water into myyhhands.
“Here, Selene. Try some warm wateer instead.”
I took the cup, staring at the clear liquidd inside.
“If I drink this… can I go upstairs and liee down?”
Without waiting for an answer, I downedd it in one gulp. The warmth slid down my throat and settled in my stomach. But within seconds, heat exploded across my body. It felt like thousands of tiny bugs weree crawling and gnawing beneath my skin.
“What… what the hell did you make me drink?” My voice trembled.

Before I could take another breath, my legs gave out, heavý like stone. I collapsed into someone’s arms. Through blurred vision, I saw Aidan’s twisted smile, full of anticipation. -his hands already sliding across my body.
“Damn, Emily, you really went all out. What, worried those pictures wouldn’t be enough to keep her in line? So you drugged her- make her fall into our arms willingly. When she finds out about the surrogacy, she won’t say a word. With this hanging over her, she won’t even dare to run to the Alpha Family. She’s yours now. Forever.”
“Let me go!” I screamed, clinging to the last shred of consciousness.
But I was paralyzed. My eyes locked on Lucas, silently begging–pleading for a trace of decency.

Lucas just wrapped an arm around Emily, his expression cold as ice.
“Be gentle with her,” he said to Aidan. “She’s still carrying mine and Emily’s pup.”
Aidan didn’t even pause.
“Relax, we know what we’re doing. We’ll be real careful with your precious little pup.”
Then he scooped me up and started carrying me upstairs.
I looked at Lucas with all the hatred I had left.
“You’ll regret this.”
Emily raised her wine glass, her voice thick with smugness.

Laughter echoed on the other side.
“Oh, come on. Don’t act like you didn’t enjoy it. You were moaning like a goddamn whore. Just rest. You won’t remember shit anyway.”
Then Lucas’s voice cut through.
“All done. Let’s move on. Next one.”
Bang.
The door slammed shut like a coffin lid, trapping me in hell.
I crawled inch by bloody inch toward the stairs, leaving behind a trail of red–my pain written in scarlet. I reached the phone, my fingers trembling, and called the Pack Clinic.

When I opened my eyes again, the sharp smell of disinfectant hit me. I was in a hospital room.
“Miss Selene…” The nurse’s voice was gentle, almost apologetic. “I’m so sorry, but… the pup didn’t make it. Would you like us to- dispose of the body? Or…?”
Her pity burned through me.
I took the papers from her with eerie calm.
“Call a courier.”
Meanwhile, Lucas and his friends stumbled back home, drunk and giddy from their night of debauchery.
As soon as they walked in, they stopped dead–staring at a blood trail snaking down the stairs into the living room.

Lucas bolted upstairs like a man possessed. The bedroom was empty. But the massive pool of blood on the floor was impossible to ignore.
Then the doorbell rang.
“Evening. Are you Mr. Lucas?”
“There’s a delivery here that needs your signature. Personal delivery”
