Chapter10
Frank’s fingers tighten around the bag of chocolate cake.
He presses a hand to his chest where Stephnie’s name is etched into his skin.
Pushing open the door, he’s hit with a maelstrom of scents.
Mathew stands in the center of the living room. Stephnie’s back is turned.
“One billion dollars? You must be joking, Father!”
“The Lyra’s Howl Pack? That comatose alpha is as good as dead! I’d rather be a lone wolf than be mated to that useless –

Mathew’s voice drops to a low growl. “It’s the only way, Stephnie. The Lyra’s Howl Pack demands a bride, and Stella agreed to go in your place. For a billion, she’s willing to sacrifice herself. Now, do you want the money or the miserable fate of being mated to a wolf who’s barely clinging to life?”
Stephnie’s lips curl into a cruel smile.
“Of course I want the money! Who needs a half–dead alpha when I have Alpha Finn wrapped around my finger?”
As if sensing Frank’s presence, she spins around, her expression transforming into a mask of innocent sweetness so quickly it gives him whiplash.
“Frankie! You’re here!” she coos, batting her lashes.

Frank’s mind is still reeling from what he’s overheard.
“It’s still warm.”
Stephnie takes the bag, deliberately brushing her fingers against his palm.
“Mmm, just like you“.
He forces a smile. “I’m glad you like it.”
But as he looks at her, all he can see is Stella’s face.
“I should go,” he says abruptly, taking a step back.
Stephnie’s hand shoots out to snag his sleeve.
“Oh, you’re not going anywhere, Frankie.

Didn’t Stella tell you? You’re mine now.”
“What?”
“She sold you to me, along with herself. For a measly billion, she’s off to marry that comatose alpha. And you know what? She deserves it. She’s always thought she was better than me, but now she’ll be nothing more than a glorified nursemaid to a wolf who can’t even howl.”
Frank’s vision blurs as memories flood his
mind.
The first time he saw Stella, descending the grand staircase in a scarlet dress that set her like a blazing comet against the monochrome of the manor.
“Frankie?”

Stephnie’s voice cuts through his thoughts.
“You’re not regretting this, are you? After all, you’ve always wanted to be with me, right?”
He swallows hard, pushing down the strange ache in his chest.
“Of course.” But as he says the words, he can’t shake the image of Stella’s cold, indifferent gaze as she sent him away.
“Wonderful!” Stephnie beams, looping her arm through his.
“Let’s go shopping. I want to show off my new toy.”
This was what he wanted, wasn’t it? To be with Stephnie?
So why does it feel like he’s just made the
