Chapter 27
Less than 24 hours later, twenty suppliers had all signed.
The entire packhouse breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Except for Callie.
Callie was still buzzing in my ear.
Endlessly flaunting her so–called “romance.”
“Alpha Zach’s getting me a three–carat diamond ring.”
“He’s going to lay a rose trail from my house to the hotel.”
“He’s taking me around the world on our

honeymoon.”
“Oh, and he promised me half the packhouse shares too!”
Wow.
If daydreaming were a career, she’d be the CEO.
“Juliet!” she shrieked. “If you keep flaunting yourself around Alpha Zach, I’ll fire you!”
“Okay, okay. Go ahead and fire me.”
I couldn’t even fake interest anymore.
I opened my drawer, pulled out the packhouse stamp, and slammed it onto the document with a satisfying thud.
Callie screeched behind me, charging over

and yanking my arm.
“Juliet! I said stop right there!”
I’d had enough.
I shoved her into a chair and leaned in, voice smooth but sharp:
“According to Article 87 of the Werewolf Labor Contract Law” I said, sweet as pie,
“If an employer terminates a contract illegally, they must pay double compensation based on Article 47.”
I patted her cheek lightly.
“Callie, it’s 2025. Maybe stop obsessing
over men for five minutes and try not being legally clueless?”

Her face twisted–half fear, half forced
arrogance.
It was almost cute.
“You want me gone so badly? Pay up.”
“I’ll walk straight out of Alpha Zach’s line of sight, no problem.”
She sputtered, lips quivering.
“I won’t let you take a single cent from Alpha Zach! You’ll see!”
I almost laughed.
Sweetheart, too late.
Those twenty million dollars already landed in my account.

Callie shoved me with all her might and stormed off, heels clacking down the hall like war drums.
I watched her back disappear down the corridor, and for a second, I genuinely felt sorry for her.
Her only confidence came from Zach’s empty promises.
Everything she boasted about–jewels, weddings, packhouse shares–none of it was real.
She was betting her life on a man’s fantasy.
And when that illusion shattered, she’d fall harder than I ever did.
But hey.

I’m not some saint here to save her.
She walked this path all on her own.
She chose to believe she was the center of his world.
To be fair, Callie is stunning.
Add that fate mate glow, and it’s easy to see why Zach got hooked.
The woman who once discarded him like an old shoe was now throwing herself into his
arms.
It made his Alpha ego swell with pride.
So sure–he’d spoil her for a while.
He’d give her the grand gestures and fairy tale moments she craved.

But no one, and I mean no one, knew better than Alpha Zach
how to kill a woman with kindness.
