Chapter 6 How Did I Make My Way Back
This was the first time Ji Zhisheng got speechless ever since she became a lawyer.
Thankfully, Mrs. Yan stopped asking or else Ji Zhisheng would really want to leave the table.
Mrs. Yan and Yan Qianmo were civilized people. They ate in an elegant manner.
Mrs. Yan would pick all sorts of dishes and put them into Ji Zhisheng’s bowl. Ji Zhisheng couldn’t bear to reject her kindness and finished everything. In the end, she ate more than what she could take.
After their meal, Mrs. Yan went for a walk with Ji Zhisheng in the garden before they headed over to the movie hall to catch a movie together.
Yan Qianmo walked out from the gym and asked the maids where Ji Zhisheng and Mrs. Yan were because they were nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s grandma and young mistress?”
“They are at the movie hall.”
Yan Qianmo headed over to the movie hall as well.
Mrs. Yan and Ji Zhisheng leaned against one another in the movie hall. They had their eyes locked on the large screen in the hall.
A hint of warmth could be seen in Yan Qianmo’s eyes when he saw how close they were.
They were watching a soap opera on the screen. It was a scene where the villain stabbed the protagonist’s stomach. They pointed at the screen and scolded the villain together.
“He’s so evil! How could he kill the innocent man just because he accidentally scratched him?!” Mrs. Yan said.
“This guy is so violent. He murdered the man in such a cruel manner. I’m sure the court will sentence him to death!” Ji Zhisheng said.
Yan Qianmo was speechless, “This drama is so fake.”
Ji Zhisheng and Mrs. Yan were speechless too.
“First of all, the color of the blood is off the scale, it’s obvious that it’s chicken’s blood. Secondly, the knife missed. It sure won’t cost his life. Thirdly, the victim’s heart is still beating.”
Ji Zhisheng and Mrs. Yan didn’t know how to reply when they heard Yan Qianmo.
Ji Zhisheng finally understood why Mrs. Yan said that she disliked watching movies with Yan Qianmo.
Better not get so worked up over every single thing. You’ll be eliminated by society someday.
They pretended as if they didn’t hear what Yan Qianmo had said and continued to review what was going on in the drama.
Yan Qianmo was speechless as well.

The next day, Ji Zhisheng woke up early in the morning. She called for a cab and got changed when she reached home before she made her way to the law firm.
Ji Zhisheng’s handphone rang when she was on her way to the law firm. It was Yan Mansion’s landline.
Ji Zhisheng smiled and picked up the phone.
“Hello, grandma.”
It had only been a day since she spent her time with Mrs. Yan, but Ji Zhisheng became fond of this old woman. Mrs. Yan might seem to be strict, but she cared a lot about Ji Zhisheng deep down.
“You naughty girl. How could you leave without saying goodbye?”
“I wanted to, but you were still sleeping soundly when I checked you out in your room. I decided not to disturb you. Didn’t I leave a note behind for you?”
“What kind of company is that? It’s tormenting. This can’t go on. I’ll call your brother and ask him to get you into another company.”
Ji Zhisheng was at a loss for words.
“Grandma, didn’t you promise me that you won’t interfere with my work?” Ji Zhisheng reassured her, “Grandma, don’t worry. I won’t exhaust myself.”
Mrs. Yan remained silent for a few seconds before she decided to compromise, “Alright. Where are you?”
“I’m on my way to the office.”
“Be careful on your way.”
“Alright, grandma.” Ji Zhisheng suddenly recalled something. She asked, “Oh right, grandma. I remember that I fell asleep while we were watching the movie together last night. How did I make my way back to the room?”
Ji Zhisheng realized that she woke up on her own bed in the guestroom this morning back in Yan Mansion.
Mrs. Yan replied nonchalantly, “Oh, it’s Qianmo who brought you back to your room.”
Ji Zhisheng’s mind was all over the place.
Perhaps Mrs. Yan was the one who requested Yan Qianmo to bring me back to my room. After all, Yan Qianmo is a gentleman. Just look at his manner and how he delivers his speech. It would be impossible for him to cross the line. Ji Zhisheng regained composure after she thought about it.

In the morning, Feng Xing introduced Ji Zhisheng to everyone and instructed Tian Yuan, another female lawyer to hand over all relevant information to Ji Zhisheng.
After a short period of time, Tian Yuan walked towards her, clanking her high heels and she ruthlessly threw a file onto Ji Zhisheng’s desk.
“This is everything related to the case.” Tian Yuan turned around and left after she had handed over the document to Ji Zhisheng. She was as proud as a peacock.
“Tha…” Before Ji Zhisheng could express her gratitude, Tian Yuan had already left.
Ji Zhisheng could feel Tian Yuan’s hostility towards her.
Ji Zhisheng shrugged her shoulders. She opened the file and went through the information regarding the case.
It was a simple civil case.
Four Seasons Group East City’s branch was developing East City International Park. Four Seasons Group made a contract with Qian Kun Co. Ltd. for engineering services, but the former made use of all sorts of excuses to delay payment. In the end, Four Seasons Group delayed Qian Kun Co. Ltd.’s payment under the reason of their quality of work not up to standards.
The engineering company would have to make advanced payment in order to carry out their work. In the end, Qian Kun Co. Ltd. couldn’t handle it anymore as payment on their end snowballed. That was when they decided to handle the issue through legal means.
Ji Zhisheng went through what had happened previously. She went through everything that Tian Yuan handed over to her thoroughly and found out that it was pretty similar to what she had in mind.
She went through the information and finally came across a name.
Liu Jie.
Ji Zhisheng sent Liu Jie’s personal information to someone called Huahua on her contact list through a text message.

Soon, Huahua replied.

Ji Zhisheng called Liu Jie.
Liu Jie answered the call in a gentle manner, “Hello, who is this?”
“I’m Ms. Ji, calling from Fang Zheng Law Firm.”
“Lawyer?” Liu Jie became cautious all of a sudden, “What do you want from me?”
“About the dispute between Qian Kun Co. Ltd. and Four Seasons Group…”
Liu Jie hung up the call before Ji Zhisheng could finish her sentence.
Ji Zhisheng’s eyebrows frowned.
It seemed like she had to make a trip over to Yan Corporation.
Ji Zhisheng walked out of her office and went to the pantry.
Tian Yuan was talking to another lawyer in the pantry.
“What the hell? So what if she comes from abroad? How dare she take over my case?! I have been following up on the case ever since the beginning. It has almost come to an end. Even though I can’t win the case, I’m sure I can secure the best interest for Qian Kun Co. Ltd.!”
“The legal fees for your case is extremely high. Why did President Feng hand it over to her?”
Tian Yuan replied in an insulting manner, “Isn’t it obvious? Just look at her face.”
“It makes sense. She’s so gorgeous. As long as she begged President Feng, I’m sure…”
Tian Yuan’s expression changed, and the lawyer immediately explained herself.
“Calm down, Ms. Tian. Angel is so young. I’m sure she can’t win even though she took over the case. Let’s just wait and see how the customer reacts.”
“I don’t think she’s capable too.”
Ji Zhisheng walked into the pantry calmly with a cup in her right hand. Then, she filled her cup up and walked out of the pantry.
Tian Yuan stared at Ji Zhisheng’s back as she walked away.
“Look at how arrogant she is. I’ll talk to President Feng and ask him to chase her out of our firm after she loses the case.”
