Chapter 7
Samuel halted in his tracks, giving me a disdainful glance.
“Mia, you’re still pretending?
“You always complain about me spending money on Sarah, but today, you’ve gathered so many people to help you with this little act, and the money you spent probably isn’t any less!
“Everyone, get out of the way! Even if Mia dies in front of me today, I won’t save her!”
With that, Samuel strode off, pulling Sarah with him.
Looking at their retreating figures, the crowd was furious, almost on the verge of exploding.
“Why is Samuel being so brainless? He could just check if it’s real or not!”
“Who would stand in the same position for twenty–four hours just for a lie? Is he crazy?”
“Mia, if you survive this, you have to divorce him. We’ll all support you!”
I nodded through my tears, but at that moment, I had something even more important to do.

I nodded through my tears, but at that
“I need you all to help me ask Ella. Why did she come here?”
At my words, everyone’s eyes went wide in disbelief.
“Right, this place is so remote, and she can’t walk well: Why would she come all the way here?”
Luke frowned in thought, then immediately sent someone to investigate.
sighed, quietly looking at everyone.
“I can’t hold on much longer. You all should go.”
Everyone had stayed with me for an entire day and night. Hearing me say I was giving up, they all began to cry.
But aside from Samuel, no one could save me now.
With him gone, I had no way out.
had delayed everyone long enough. It was time to say goodbye.
After much persuasion, everyone reluctantly stepped back, their faces tear–streaked.
I was about to die, but my heart felt strangely light.
Just then, a series of shouts came from not far away.
“Mia, hold on! The experts from the city are here!”
The voices grew louder, and a group of people quickly rushed toward me.

! was on the verge of collapse, my legs shaking without the neighbors‘ support. Hearing the shouts, those who had just let go of me qi back to catch me, their voices choked with emotion.
“Thank goodness, Mia! You’re going to be okay!”
The experts from the city were swift. In just over ten minutes, they had safely rescued me.
I was completely drained, and although there were people supporting me, I collapsed, unable to control my body.
Luke, with a solemn expression, ordered that the disarmed landmine be kept, then comforted me briefly before leaving with his team.
Once I was taken back home, Samuel and Sarah returned.
Seeing everyone gathered around me, Samuel gave a forced smile.
“Mia, didn’t you say you stepped on a landmine? How come you’re walking around like nothing happened?
“I see, you’re just good at pretending…”
Before he could finish his words, Ella slammed the broomstick onto his head.
“You wretch, stop talking nonsense!
“Mia’s just a girl, how could she have the power to make everyone join in a lie? You really have some nerve!”
Sarah, seeing Samuel get hit, immediately began to comfort him with exaggerated care.
“Samuel, they don’t understand you. Only I truly care about you.
“No wonder, Mia’s so pretty and loves to flirt with everyone. It’s no surprise people are always defending her,”
Ella trembled with fury.
“Pfft! You little bitch, you want to enter my house? You’ll have to wait for me to die first!”
At that moment, everything I hadn’t understood suddenly clicked in my mind.
It was Sarah.
She wanted to marry Samuel, but Ella didn’t agree.
As long as Ella was alive, she could never marry Samuel.
immediately grabbed Ella’s arm.
“Ella, why did you go to such a remote place? Tell me now!”
Ella was stunned for a moment.

“It was Lily from James‘ family who told me you were waiting for me over there.”
The community police, sensing something was off, immediately called Lily over.
Under questioning from the crowd, Lily looked at Sarah.
“Sarah told me to tell Ella, and she gave me a candy.”
Everyone gasped in shock.
Sarah’s face went pale, and she immediately waved her hand, trying to explain.
But before she could finish, Luke returned with his team.
“Samuel, your report!”
Seeing the box with the bomb in his hands, Samuel froze in disbelief.
“This model, this is the bomb from that battlefield!”
He then turned to me with wide eyes.
“Mia, did you really step on a bomb?”
I avoided his gaze, unwilling to meet his eyes.
