Drip. Drip.
Water droplets hit the stainless steel sink.
The kitchen was silent.
Only Ethan’s and my breathing could be heard.
“I called you so many times. Why didn’t you answer?”
He asked.
My heavy heart suddenly lightened a bit.
As if venting my grievances, i complained:
“Nathan dragged me into his car earlier. My phone and bag were thrown in the back seat.”
I added, “They’re still in the car.”
“Mm.” Ethan stroked my earlobe, his tone somewhat cold. “Second question, is admitting you married me so embarrassing?”
Only then did I realize he took issue with what I’d said earlier.
I felt a bit dejected.
I felt a bit dejected.
“Meeting the family for the first time, only to get tangled up with Nathan.”
“Then dragging you into it too, what will people think of you…”
Ethan suddenly laughed. “What will they think?”
I said: “A rebound… a big fool… naive and easy to trick-”
“Naive and easy to trick?”
Ethan chuckled and leaned down to kiss me.
The sudden assault instantly scattered my rational thoughts.
He… kissed me?!!!
Ethan had eaten mint candy.
It masked the smell of cigarettes.
Cool and scorching mixed into an unfamiliar yet thrilling arousal.
He gradually pressed me against the glass door of the kitchen.
The air was sweltering.
Outside, Nathan was yelling assurances to Grandfather Fu: “Olivia will divorce soon, she doesn’t like that man at all. She only married him recently to spite me”
