“Olivia, please come back.”
After crying, Linda wiped her tears and stood up.
She swept her gaze over everyone, giving a desolate smile.
“All of us are murderers who killed Olivia. None of us can escape.”
“Let’s get divorced, Frank. There’s no point in staying together anymore.”
For the rest of her days, she would accompany her daughter.
Let this rotten Hayes family continue to rot.
She wanted no more part of it.
Frank stood stunned, his clouded eyes somewhat helpless.
His neglect had killed his daughter.
Had he done wrong?
Although it was New Year’s Eve, quite a crowd had gathered outside the door.
Ethan was a doctor at the downtown hospital, and had some reputation at the district hospital too.
Several doctors and nurses on duty recognized him.
“What’s all the commotion inside?”
“It’s a whole cheating drama. The woman in bed is a pediatrician from the downtown hospital. The man who cheated with her is also a doctor there, Ethan Hayes.”
“Dr. Hayes‘ ex–wife got cancer and left without saying goodbye. She’s already passed away.”
“Huh? Got cancer? Could it be that young woman who came to our hospital for a checkup three months ago? I remember she only had about
six months left.”
“Guess she was angered to death.”
“Tsk tsk, this family really brought it on themselves.”
“That poor young lady.”
Hearing the discussion outside, Ethan’s eyes lit up.
Right, Olivia was supposed to have six months left to live.
He didn’t believe Olivia was dead.
He felt Olivia was just trying to trick him.
If Olivia had really died, why hadn’t anyone notified the family?

He didn’t believe it.
But he couldn’t reach Mr. Davis.
After waiting until business hours,
Ethan finally got in touch with him.
Mr. Davis just looked at him and sighed helplessly.
“Ms. Hayes won’t be coming back.”
“She has already passed away.”
“No.”
He grabbed Mr. Davis‘ arm.
“You must be lying to me, right? Olivia had six months left to live. The doctor’s diagnosis couldn’t be wrong!”
Mr. Davis pushed his hand away.
“Dr. Hayes, you’re a doctor yourself. Have you ever seen a patient whose illness progressed exactly according to the textbook?”
Ethan stared blankly at Mr. Davis.
“Please tell me where Olivia is. I want to bring her home.”
Mr. Davis‘ brows furrowed tightly.
“Dr. Hayes, I’m afraid I can’t tell you. Besides, Ms. Hayes no longer wishes to see you.”
He glanced at Ethan, the disgust on his face unconcealed.
“Setting aside my role as a lawyer, I still want to say something fair.””
“When she was here, you didn’t cherish her, hurting her over and over, and allowing others to hurt her too. Now that she’s gone, you’re anxious here. Don’t you find that laughable?”
“Dr. Hayes, there’s no medicine for regret in this world.”

After saying that, Mr. Davis left.
Ethan returned home in a daze.
The empty house had not a trace of Olivia’s presence.
She had left so cleanly.
Not leaving him even a shred of memory.
Ethan saw the notebook on the table.
It was the only real thing Olivia had left behind.
He walked over and opened the notebook with trembling hands.
Graceful handwriting appeared before his eyes.
He gently traced Olivia’s name.

He gently traced Olivia’s name.
“How could you be so heartless. How could you just leave like this.”
Turning another page,
Things Olivia had written before appeared.
It was a list of things Olivia had decided to do before divorcing.
Each item stabbed at Ethan’s heart.
Until he saw the last one.
“Burn some spirit money for myself, or I’ll have no money to spend in the afterlife.”
Ethan suddenly broke down.
He collapsed on the table, sobbing loudly.
He had killed Olivia!
Thinking back to that month of arguing with Olivia over Sophia,
Ethan felt he wasn’t human.
He was a bastard.
He was despicable.
He was shameless.
It was all because of him.
0
Olivia could have been saved.
It was all because of him!
It was all because of him.
But no matter how much he blamed himself, Olivia wouldn’t come back.
Ethan didn’t go to work or leave the house.
He hid at home reading Olivia’s unfinished comic.
The comic ended on their third wedding anniversary.
The female lead stood by the road with her ultrasound results, waiting for the male lead to pick her up.
She didn’t get to see her male lead.
Olivia didn’t get to see Ethan either.
Readers in the comments all felt sorry the female lead didn’t meet the male lead.
They also speculated why Olivia had stopped at this point.
Some said Olivia stopped drawing due to poor health.
Some said it was because the male lead had changed.
Ethan flipped through the comic she had drawn over and over.

Slowly noticing all the details he had never paid attention to before Collapsing on the ground to cry over and over again.
“Olivia, please come back.”
“Can we start over?”
“I was wrong, I was truly wrong.”
“I love you, I only love you. I only love you…”
Sophia called him.
Ethan wanted to hang up.
“Ethan, don’t you want to know where Olivia went?”
After hanging up, Ethan came to Sophia’s hospital room.
She had recovered somewhat, but her face was still deathly pale.
“Where’s Olivia?”
Looking at Ethan’s cold face, Sophia’s expression turned pitiful.
“Ethan, we lost our child. Are you really this indifferent?”
Ethan’s breathing hitched.
That’s right, he was supposed to have a child.
With Olivia.
It was also lost at three months.
This must be heaven punishing and retaliating against him.
Making him lose both his child and Olivia.
“Where’s Olivia?”
Sophia gave a bitter smile: “If I didn’t say that, would you have come?”
Ethan was about to leave when she grabbed him.
“Ethan! Because of you, I can never have children again! Don’t you have to take responsibility for me?”
This incident had been trending for days.
Sophia was viciously attacked online.
Her background had also been thoroughly exposed.
The hospital had fired her because of this.
Now she had nothing left.
She couldn’t let Ethan go.
Ethan had to take responsibility for her!
Ethan looked at her with disgust.
“If you hadn’t seduced me into sleeping with you, Olivia wouldn’t have left me.”
“If you hadn’t seduced me into sleeping with you, Olivia wouldn’t have left me.”
“Sophia Lewis, ever since you left, the one I’ve loved has always been Olivia. In this life and the next, don’t ever dream of me marrying you.”
Ethan’s vicious words were like a knife, cutting Sophia’s face.
She never imagined this man had two such different sides.
Sophia laughed self–mockingly.
“Ethan, is this how you treated Olivia before too? No wonder she had to leave you.”
“Ethan, why are you pretending to be devoted now? Remember, when you slept with me, Olivia was waiting to die!”
Ethan couldn’t help slapping her.
Sophia turned her head, suddenly laughing.
“Ethan, you think you’re so noble?”
“You’re nothing but scum too.”
24
“Ethan, to tell you the truth, Olivia never broke us up. You were just paranoid, so I went along with what you said.”
“You never loved Olivia. A selfish man like you only cares about your own feelings. Olivia dying is her good fortune! Ethan, give up. You’ll never find Olivia. Olivia would rather die than be with you again!”
“I was so blind to fall for you again and again!”
She had known Ethan for 20 years.
She knew Ethan’s temperament inside out.
That’s why she could succeed time after time.
That’s why she could snatch Ethan from Olivia over and over.
Ethan’s clenched fist suddenly loosened.
He staggered back a few steps and laughed.
That’s right.
Sophia was correct.
He was scum.
But he still wanted to see Olivia one last time.
Even if Olivia wouldn’t forgive him.
Ethan frantically searched for Olivia’s whereabouts.
Based on the location of the initial memorial blog post, he discovered Florida.
Searching house by house, family by family,
Ethan finally found traces of Olivia on an island.
He saw illustrations hanging in a window.

He saw illustrations hanging in a window.
Over the past month, he had internalized Olivia’s art style into his blood and bones.
One glance was enough to recognize it was Olivia’s work.
He hadn’t seen this piece on any platform before.
It must have been drawn by Olivia herself.
An inexplicable hope ignited in Ethan’s heart.
He hoped Olivia wasn’t dead.
Even if the chance was miniscule.
“Who are you?”
Ethan turned around to see Jason.
He pointed at the painting in the window and asked: “Where’s the person who drew this? Where is she?”
Jason was taken aback by the question.
Ethan wasn’t the first person to come looking.
Linda had come a week ago.
Olivia’s death certificate needed to be processed by family.
Jason had given Linda the only ID card Olivia left behind.
At the time, Linda had begged to stay here, but was refused by Jason.
He had kept this place exactly as it was when Olivia died.
He didn’t want anyone to disturb it.
After a moment of shock, Jason realized the man before him was Olivia’s ex–husband.
Just as Olivia had described.
Putting on airs.
Utterly hypocritical.
“Olivia passed away.”
Jason looked coldly at Ethan, adding,
“This painting was done two months ago.”
That was when Olivia had just arrived.
On the brink of death, she had painted a picture yearning for life.
Thinking of this, Jason felt a stabbing pain in his heart.
Ethan stared blankly at the painting.
“Can you give me this painting? I’m Olivia’s husband.”
“Husband?”

“Husband?”
Jason laughed coldly.
“Olivia was already divorced when she came to Florida. You’re just an ex–husband.”
Ethan was stunned for a moment, his tone softening.
“Please, can you sell it to me? I’ll pay any price. This is the only painting Olivia left behind.”
“Is this about money?”
Jason frowned deeply.
“Ethan Hayes, why are you putting on an act in front of me now?”
“Olivia was such a good person, yet you betrayed her, humiliated her, made her miscarry!”
Jason grew more agitated as he spoke.
He stepped forward and grabbed Ethan’s collar.
“Do you know that she became depressed and got sick because she lost the baby!”
“She could have lived another six months! It was you who broke her heart and made her only live two months!”
Ethan let Jason grab him, just shaking his head lightly.
“I didn’t mean to. I love her. I really love her!”
“Your love is worthless.”
Jason took a deep breath and released him.
“Get lost.”
Ethan pleaded with Jason.
“Can you let me see Olivia? Even if it’s just her grave. Please let me see her?”
Since Olivia’s death, his longing for her had been like a tidal wave.
Suffocating him every minute.
Jason’s eyes reddened.
“You’ll never see her again.”
He would never see her again either.
“She’s already gone with the ocean.”
Ethan stared blankly at the sea.
Olivia had said in her comic,
If not for Ethan, she would have given up on living long ago.
If Ethan betrayed her, she would leave with the ocean.
Never forgiving him.
Ether cuddenly stood up sterfaht and walked towards the rea

A moment later, Ethan suddenly stood up straight and walked towards the sea.
“Olivia, wait for me.”

Ethan stumbled towards the ocean.
The angry waves knocked him down in the shallow water.
He got up again and again, only to be pushed back each time.
He couldn’t move forward at all.
Jason grabbed Ethan’s collar and threw him back onto the beach.
“Ethan Hayes, Olivia doesn’t want you to die here.”
“She’s not being kind to you. She’s disgusted by you.”
“This is the shore where she left. She wouldn’t like it being dirtied.”
Looking at Ethan crying as he clutched the sand, Jason clenched his fist.
“If you truly love her, you should live the rest of your life in lonely solitude, to feel what it’s like to lose your love forever.”
Ethan stared blankly ahead, then stood up.
“You’re right, I can’t die. Even if I die, Olivia won’t forgive me. I need to atone, atone for the rest of my life…”
Muttering to himself, Ethan left.
Jason watched the setting sun in the distance, his eyes sorrowful.
“Olivia, I don’t know if I did the right thing.”
“But I felt he shouldn’t die so easily.”
After returning, Ethan threw out all of Sophia’s things.
He arranged the house the way Olivia liked it.
No matter how Sophia begged him, Ethan just repeated in a daze.
“Olivia doesn’t like your things.”
