Chapter 231
KESKA: The next two days, I drilled with the archery team, my team, I made sure they all knew where they were supposed to go, the best and fastest route to get there, and keep the panic to a minimum. Dutch and Trever worked with us as well, we were going to be ready no matter when, no matter what. We didn’t have long to wait, that night the alarm went off. The border had been breached in several places considering the alarm went off three more times. Dutch, Mackie, Trever, and myself were upstairs and downstairs helping to get the noncombatants into the safe rooms in the Pack house. I gave Liam my arrows, and he had his as well. “It’s up to you to keep them calm and safe,” I told him. He nodded at me, and I closed them in. Then we headed outside to help get others to the public safe rooms, and safe areas, I had at least one if not two archers with every group with the same instructions. Make every shot count if the door gets breached. Then we got into the fight. I went to check on my team to see that they were in place, and they didn’t disappoint me, they were all there in their spots. I left Mackie with them. Dutch shifted and stayed as well, just as a fighting ground force. Then the next thing I know fighting had broken out all around. I shifted into Corla, and Trever shifted into Havoc. The attackers had set some buildings on fire, adding to the chaos. We ran to put them out before the buildings were too damaged. As we were moving about the grounds every Stone Claw member we smelled, Corla turned them into instant Ice or ash. We saw Frank was in trouble with 3 wolves surrounding him. We phased to him and Corla bit one turning it into an ice statue. A head butt to another one was hard enough to send him rolling face first into the dirt. That gave Frank the time he needed to dispatch the one that was right in front of him. He was now ready for the other one when he got back up. He looked at me strangely, “It’s me Frank, Kes, and this is Corla, I know this is a crazy time to bring this up, but take note of their scent, they are all Stone Claw, if you come across others and they don’t seem to be in the fight, remember they were forced into this and they may not want to fight, give them the option to hide in the shadows around the bigger buildings.” I linked him, he nodded. We heard a cry for help through the link, it sounded like Pete. He was over closer to the school, so we headed that way. We found ourselves. surrounded, Havoc had 4 wolves around him, and I had 3 surrounding me. Every last one of them smelled of Stone Claw. All of them were fair game. They circled us testing our defenses, the first one lunged. Corla connected with his paw with a swipe of her own and knocked him off balance. The second one lunged, Corla spun and kicked out with her back feet and sent him flying. The third waited and kept circling. The other two came back and we were surrounded again. Than Corla went into a low crouch and waited, she stayed still. All three lunged at the same time and Corla phased us out, they all crashed Jinto each other. It looked like a Three Stooges Comedy Act. Then she spun and bit the closest one in the shoulder, turning it to ice. We spun back the other way, and she bit the second one turning it to ash. The third got a full dose of poison. We looked to see where Havoc was. He had taken the head off one of the wolves. Another lay at his feet with its lower jaw tore off. He had thrown the third so hard against the building its head was smashed in. He had one opponent left. Just as it lunged Havoc ducked, extended his claws and tore the wolf’s underside open. Then we were off again to go help Pete. He was surrounded when we got to him. Corla dodged and bit a Stone Claw member turning them to ashes mid swipe. Havoc had picked up another and through it into the trees. We heard a loud thud. We worked our way to Pete, but when we got to him he was in bad shape. I looked at Havoc, he came picked up Pete’s wolf and we headed straight to the hospital with him. After making sure that Pete was looked after we got back into the fight. Whenever we came across other Pack smells, Corla asked them if they were forced to be here and did, they want to fight, depending on their answers, she would either bite them with her poison or she told them to go hide in the deepest shadows they could find and stay put. I could see the wonder and curiosity in their eyes, a wolf that talked. Stone Claw started more fires. We had to fight our way to each one, but we got them put out. I heard screams coming from where I had the archers, so I headed back that way. I could smell blood, but it wasn’t from any of ours, thank the goddess. One of the archers had put an arrow through the eye of one of the invaders. By mornings sun rise it was over. Those of Stone Claw that had invaded were either captured or dead, and word had spread to some of the others, that if they didn’t want to fight to hide. So that cut down on the amount of actual fighting, and since Stone Claw didn’t take the time to initiate everyone when they overtook them, they lost control of their advantage of numbers fast. But with the dawn, also came Our Pack, and the grounds were littered with ice statues and piles of ashes. Where Corla helped with putting out fires, and defending the Pack, and those seething, reeling, and screaming in pain from a full dose of her poison.
DRAKE: Once morning came and the fighting had died down, I walked the grounds, we lost several warriors, but not as many as I initially would have thought, it helped adding the trade training program, and the obstacle course. I know that we didn’t have much time to work with ether one, but it proved to be invaluable. I see the statues, damn! Why couldn’t she have stayed in the safe room with everybody else! And then I started to notice the ash piles as well, and I was hearing screams from several directions, i went to investigate what and why, to my surprise, I found Stone Claw members writhing in pain, but 1 couldn’t see what was causing it. I linked the Dr. “We have some Stone Claw people out here in severe pain, can you come check them?” “On my way, but Pete need a transfusion from you if we are going to keep him.” “I will return with you after you come check on some of the Stone Claw Pack.” I close the link and wait for him to get to me. It takes about 3 minutes, and he shows up, he checks the woman warrior over and notices the bite mark on the back side of her thigh. “Corla.” Is all he says. “Can we save her?” I asked.
