Chapter 105
It only took Benjamin a few minutes to come back to the table. He had a tray with their drinks and what looked like a couple of desserts. Pandora dug out the sandwiches she packed, and he set out the drinks.
‘I’m sorry that I didn’t pack that much, I just wanted to have lunch with you.”
“This is perfect and really, you couldn’t have carried more than this anyway, along with the boys and their diaper bag. Besides, they had some yummy desserts up there, and the cafeteria always has milk which is good for you right now.” She smiled at him. “Next time you want to do this, pack whatever you want and call me. I will come out to the car and help you,” Benjamin said, making her look at him.
She smiled at him because he was always thinking of her as well as the boys.
“How have they been today?” he asked, taking a bite of his sandwich
“They’ve been okay, but I think they are missing you- I know I am.
“I’m missing all of you, too, so much,” he confessed and leaned over to kiss her. Just as she got into the kiss, his pager went off “Sorry, love, I need to go,” he sighed, standing up.
Benjamin walked off fast and Pandora frowned, taking a long sad breath. As he walked away, she knew that she was finishing her lunch with just the boys.
“Hey, Pandora,” Emily said softly, sitting down. “Benjamin was called into an emergency surgery. He’s not going to be able to rejoin you right now.”
Pandora nodded, already having the feeling he wasn’t going to be able to come back as it had been almost twenty minutes.
“If you’re all done, I’ll walk you back to the car, or I can get Alexis to help?”
“No, I’ll be fine,” she told Emily.
“Pandora…” Emily called.
She shook her head. “My only plan for today is to find Benjamin something for being an amazing dad,” she informed.
“Yeah, and it’s his birthday in a few days too.” As Emily talked, Pandora felt her mouth drop open.
“Shit,” she hissed, “I completely forgot,” she carried on with a groan. I better get going. I have to find him something for both things on the same day.”
“Pandora, Emily sighed as she placed her hand on Pandora’s arm. “Don’t panic. Benjamin is easygoing, and he’ll love anything you get him. She grunted along with a nod. “Come on,” Emily coaxed, taking one of the boys for Pandora. I’m helping you carry all of this out; I promised Benjamin that I would.”
Benjamin had been back at work for a week, and she had found out just how much he worked. It felt as if it had been months since they last talked for more than a few minutes, and right then, the only time they were with each other was at night. She had tried every night to stay up for him but had fallen asleep before he came home.
When she had woken up with one of the boys, he had gotten up, too. As luck would have it, it seemed that as soon as they were back to sleep, he got paged. Pandora had even tried to meet him for lunch but found that Emily or Alexis were her main lunch buddies.

Chapter 105
Today was his birthday, but if was also his day off.
“Morning,” she whispered into his ear.
“Morning,” he replied back with a grin.
She kissed his lips, smiling. “I made you breakfast,” she told him.
He smiled and pulled her head down so his lips were back on hers. flipped them so he was on top of her and between her legs, He ran his hand up her leg, stopping at the knee, where he seemed to draw circles on it. He hooked his hand under her knee and dragged it over his hip.
His hand continued up her leg, to the top of her panties. As she started to pant, his lips left hers and he nibbled at her neck. Her hands moved down his back and around to his front, grazing his erection.
“Fuck,” Benjamin hissed. But before they could do anything else, the boys started to cry. Benjamin dropped his head onto her shoulder, and let out a throaty laugh.
“I think the boys are up,” she told him.
“My boy is up, too, and our boys are cockblockers.” Pandora snorted at Benjamin’s reply and he winked at her. “Come on,” he called, getting off of her.
He reached out his hand and when she took it, he pulled her up and out of the room. As soon as the boys were changed and she was feeding both of them, Benjamin headed back to their room. He brought in the tray with their breakfast on it.
“What would the birthday boy like to do today?” Benjamin tilted his head and wiggled his brows at her. “We’ll have to try that later,” she replied, giving him a pointed look.
“Okay, how about-” Benjamin got cut off by his cell phone ringing. “Give me a moment,” he said standing up.
He walked out as he answered it. Benjamin came back into the boys bedroom, but his face looked strained, and unhappy.
“I need to go to work.” She just looked at him as he knelt in front of her. “I’m sorry,” he said and kissed her head.
She bit her lip as he walked away. Just as she was finished feeding the boys, he got dressed and ready to go.
“It should be an hour, three at the very most,” he told her and she nodded at him, not trusting her mouth to open.
Benjamin walked away, and as the front door opened and closed, she felt a tear running down her face. Benjamin was still not back at lunchtime, and Pandora called her father to speak to him.
She knew he could tell that she was upset, but he never questioned her on it. He gave her good news, telling her that he and Nina had found a home–only a half hour away from where Benjamin’s house was. After she ended her call, she headed to the hospital hoping she could spend some time with Benjamin.
