“How many times do I have to tell you? Sophia is already married. Mr. Chi has always resented you for taking Rachel away. If you go to the Chi family now, it certainly won’t end well!”
“Be a good boy. After you’re discharged from the hospital, marry Rachel. I’ve already prepared everything for you. Lily also needs a complete family.”
Hearing his mother’s resolute tone, Lucas reluctantly retreated, collapsing onto the hospital bed with a vacant look in his eyes.

“What about me and Lily?” Rachel immediately asked.
The woman’s question made the air in the hospital room instantly freeze.
After what seemed like an eternity, Lucas sighed wearily and gave an ambiguous, perfunctory answer:
“I’ll take responsibility till the end.”
This lukewarm response made Rachel laugh self–mockingly.
She directly left the hospital room with Lily.
As silence returned to the room, Lucas finally breathed a sigh of relief.
But immediately after, that inexplicable unease and depression completely surrounded him.
The thought of Sophia remarrying another man with his daughter made his heart feel as if it was being gripped tightly.
Five years ago, when he drew Sophia as his arranged marriage partner, he was greatly disappointed.
After all, at that time, Rachel was the apple of his eye and had been his ideal type since childhood.
So he chose to escape, using work as an excuse to flee to harsh conditions in Africa.
