A sneer came from the other end of the line:
“You took my fiancée back then, and I didn’t say anything. Now we’re just even.”
In an instant, Lucas’s face turned dark, his teeth almost gritting:
“Do you think I’m joking?”
Ethan’s laughter subsided as he resumed a serious tone:
To be honest, you’re unqualified both as a fiancé and as a father.”

“Do you know how badly Sophia was ridiculed by people in our circle? Do you know that Emma once suffered from autism because she didn’t have a father?”
The accusations over the phone made Lucas feel extremely uncomfortable, involuntarily tightening his grip on the phone.
“Put Sophia on the phone. I’ll apologize to her in person. I don’t need you to lecture me.”
Hearing this, Ethan sent him a photo of a marriage certificate via text message, laughing mockingly:
“From now on, Sophia is my wife, and Emma is my daughter. You have no right to apologize to them.”
With that, before Lucas could react, Ethan hung up the phone.
Lucas’s fingers enlarged the photo of the marriage certificate, his entire body trembling with anger.
Everything was real. Sophia had truly married Ethan.
The man stumbled back home in a daze, only to find a wedding invitation in his mailbox.
Seeing the loving couple photo on it, he crumpled the invitation into a ball and stomped on it furiously.
At that moment, Lily ran out from the villa, crying and hugging him.
“Daddy, please convince Mommy quickly. She wants to take me back to Africa. Only you can stop her…”
Rachel was seen dragging a suitcase, angrily loading it into the car.
Lily jumped up and down anxiously, begging him repeatedly:
“Doesn’t Daddy want me and Mommy anymore? Hurry and stop Mommy, don’t let her leave!”
But no matter how Lily pleaded, he remained unmoved, his tone eerily calm:
“It’s good for you to go back to Africa for a while. Stay at one of the group’s hotels.”
Hearing this, Rachel couldn’t keep up the act anymore and threw the suitcase at his feet.
“Lucas, you really don’t want me and Lily anymore, do you?”
“Seeing Sophia marry Ethan makes you feel bad, and now you’re starting to feel guilty, right?”
“Wake up! That’s just an illusion. Are you saying our five years of feelings can’t compare to your momentary impulse for Sophia?!”
The woman’s words made Lucas pause for a moment.
He asked himself, were his feelings for Sophia just a momentary impulse or sincere?
Minutes passed, and he still couldn’t find a definitive answer.
He only knew that now, thinking of Sophia marrying Ethan made him want to go crazy!
As for the hysterical Rachel in front of him, he no longer felt the protective urge he once had.
The current Rachel, with naked jealousy in her eyes, was nothing like the innocent girl he had imagined.
Lucas averted his gaze, squatting down to gather the scattered items from the suitcase and handing it back to her.
“Stop talking. If you really want to leave with Lily, I’ll drive you to the airport.
Hearing the man’s resolute tone, Rachel’s face contorted with anger, her hatred for Sophia barely contained.
“You only like Sophia, don’t you? I hope you won’t regret this!”
With those words, she angrily took Lily into the car and drove away.

Watching the mother and daughter leave, Lucas unfolded the wedding invitation again, memorizing the address of the wedding venue.
The man made a silent decision to go find Sophia and bring her back, even if it meant crashing the wedding.
He was convinced that Sophia couldn’t truly be so heartless, that she couldn’t possibly take Emma and leave him behind.
