Chapter 10
Alpha Lucas followed me all the way back to Eclipse pack estate.
For the next several days, he stuck to me like glue, as if he had decided to waste the rest of his life entangled with mine.

In the business world, he initiated partnerships with companies linked to Eclipse pack, intentionally amplifying publicity about our “reconnection.””
Gossip columns exploded with stories of the love–hate triangle between Alpha Lucas and the Eclipse pack sisters.
The rumors of a marriage–swap resurfaced, and soon after, Claire’s scandals were exposed:
She had schemed against her own sister, repeatedly harassed her brother–in–law, and even tried to seduce Josephine’s love interest–only to be caught and push him down the stairs in a fit of rage. A venomous woman, they called her.
The public sympathized with Eclipse pack’s true heiress.
She had been robbed of the happiness that was rightfully hers, and in the end, had to

“She’s manipulative, and Alpha Lucas is pathetic too,” people said. “He abandoned his real child to raise someone else’s. Serves him right.”
Everyone waited for the dog–blood drama to end.
Then someone leaked: After Alpha Lucas learned the truth, he exploded.
He showed no mercy to Claire, Eclipse pack’s illegitimate daughter, driving her to ruin.
He scoured all of the wolf packs for the real Eclipse pack heiress, and when he still couldn’t find her, he turned his fury on Eclipse pack to force them to speak.
“He lost his mind, they said.
I sneered at him:
“Lucas, can you stop putting on this show of
‘deep love‘? It’s embarrassing.”

looked at me with utter desperation.
“Josephine, please… I was wrong. Don’t do this to me.”
“I love you. I truly can’t live without you.”
I almost laughed.
“Lucas, this isn’t just pointless. It’s pitiful.”
As I continued to ignore him, something even more absurd happened–Alpha Terry and Zach came to find me too.
When Alpha Terry saw me, he simply stared, silently, for a long time.
“Josephine… I just want to know: If I had told you from the start that I wasn’t the one who saved you back then–would you still have liked me?”
I looked at him calmly. I had no interest in answering these meaningless questions.

“I just need closure,” he said. “A reason to finally let go.”
“Alpha Terry,” I said evenly, “there are no ‘ifs! No one could’ve predicted the future.”
His face went pale. He lowered his head, shaking it in defeat.
Zach pulled him aside and got to the point:
“Josephine, we’re here to beg you. Please ask Alpha Lucas to stop targeting the Crown Shadow Pack.
We’ve already paid a heavy price these past three years.”
“When Alpha Lucas dropped you off at the hospital, he collapsed and told us to look after you.
Technically, my brother stayed by your side. That’s why he felt he didn’t deserve you, so he never made a move.

No one expected Alpha Lucas to return to Eclipse pack and meet you again.”
“That video from the cruise three years ago-
my brother asked me to record it.
He just wanted you to see Alpha Lucas clearly, to get a chance to pursue you himself.
After you left, Alpha Lucas found out and lost it. He punished everyone involved. We’re out of options…”
Their words didn’t stir even a ripple in me.
“I’m sorry, I said coldly. “I can’t control what Lucas does. And I don’t want anything more to do with him.”
Behind me, Alpha Lucas had heard everything.
His face went pale.
The wedding dress in his hands fell to the

He scrambled to pick it up, eyes brimming with hope and pain.
“Josephine, I brought our old wedding dress. Look–it’s exactly the same.”
It was. Same style. Untouched, pristine.
I felt a sudden wave of emotion. I steadied myself before replying:
“Lucas, it doesn’t matter.”
“That night in Crown Shadow Pack, you proposed to Claire and kissed her in public. My heart shattered–just like the wedding dress I found later, torn beyond repair.”
Alpha Lucas choked on a sob, tears pouring down his face.
“It’s my fault. It’s all my fault…”
“What can I do to make you forgive me? Tell me, please… without you, I’ll go insane.”

I suddenly remembered what Alpha Stuart once told me about Alpha Lucas’s childhood:
He was unloved, volatile, and angry–but he hid it well around me.
I sighed.
“Alpha Lucas, not hating you is already my greatest act of mercy. Don’t push me any further.”
“That torn wedding dress is the end of us. There’s no going back.”
My eyes moved slowly from Alpha Lucas… to Alpha Terry.
“You–both of you–don’t come looking for me again.
I can’t take it anymore.”
Zach dragged Alpha Terry away, leaving behind a stunned Alpha Lucas.

He shakily placed the Platycodon grandiflorum bracelet into my palm.
I looked at him, gave a quiet, bitter smile.
“Lucas, remember when you once asked me: What if you made a huge mistake–what would I do?”
His tears finally broke through his
composure.
“I’ve really lost you this time… haven’t I?”
I said nothing. I turned and closed the door behind me.
It was too late.
There’s no such thing as a “regret pill” in this world.
No time machine to rewrite the past.
Alpha Lucas stood motionless, clutching that snow–white wedding dress

I heard him erupt into agonized sobs behind the door.
I knew… it was truly over.
Love and hate, blown away by the wind.
And ahead of me-
A new beginning, destined to be more beautiful than anything I left behind.
