Miranda’s face went pale as she shoved her phone toward Alpha Lawrence, panic in her
eyes.
“Lawrence, I just posted about our wedding! Everyone knows we got married. If we divorce now, what will people think of me?!”
Alpha Lawrence frowned. “Everyone already knows this marriage was just a cover. I only married you out of pity–to give the pup in your belly a name. There’s nothing scandalous about ending something fake.”
He was already dragging her toward the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau as he spoke, scanning every corner like a man possessed.
But Sophia and Alpha Francis were nowhere in sight.
The panic in Lawrence’s chest tightened.

“Hurry! If they register before we file for divorce, it’ll be too late!”
“I’m not getting divorced!” Miranda shrieked, digging in her heels and trying to pull away.
Alpha Lawrence’s face darkened. “This isn’t up to you.”
With a firm grip, he hauled her to the front of the divorce window, shoving past the others in line.
“We want a divorce!”
The clerk behind the desk looked up with obvious recognition–and irritation. The pair had just taken their marriage photo not thirty minutes ago. Now they were back, making a
scene.
“Sir, the clerk said with a scowl, gesturing at the growing line behind them, “you two just signed your marriage certificate. It’s not even warm yet, and now you want a divorce?

Marriage isn’t child’s play. This isn’t a game -you should think it through before wasting everyone’s time.”
“I’m not divorcing!” Miranda cried, shaking her head furiously.
Alpha Lawrence snapped, grabbing her collar. “Are you insane, Miranda?! Sophia is my Luna! I helped you, and now you’re ruining my life?!”
Miranda clung to his arm, sobbing. “Lawrence, please! Don’t be so cruel. You promised me! You said even if we couldn’t stay together forever, you’d be my husband for at least a year! I love you–I can’t forget you…”
Her pitiful expression and tear–streaked face made Alpha Lawrence waver, just slightly.
The clerk interrupted again. “Please step aside if you’re not proceeding. There are others waiting. And for your information,

divorces now require an appointment–and a thirty–day cooling–off period.”
Miranda seized the moment, dragging him away from the window.
But just then, Lawrence turned–and froze.
Walking out from the marriage registry office, side by side, were Sophia and Alpha Francis.
They were both holding red marriage booklets in hand. Both were smiling.
Lawrence’s heart plummeted. He charged forward, reaching out to snatch the certificate, but Alpha Francis was faster- tucking the red booklet smoothly into his pocket and stepping in front of Sophia.
His eyes turned icy as he looked Lawrence dead in the eye. “Do you really think you can snatch my marriage certificate? Do you want to lose your hands?”

Alpha Lawrence stared at Sophia, disbelief clouding his voice. “This… this is fake, right? You did this just to get back at me, didn’t you? This can’t be real.”
Sophia let out a light laugh. “Forging a marriage license is a felony, Alpha.”
Then she took Alpha Francis’s hand and turned to leave.
Lawrence lunged to stop her, but Francis stepped between them like a wall of stone- expression calm, stance unyielding.
“Don’t test me, Alpha Francis said quietly.
Just that look–cold and deadly–made Lawrence instinctively stumble back a few steps.
His throat dried. How could I forget? This is Alpha Francis. The nightmare of the Silver Claw Pack. He’s not someone he can cross.

Without another word, Francis followed after Sophia and shielded her as they got into the
car.
From the window, Sophia glanced back.
Lawrence could only see her profile now–so distant, so unfamiliar.
But then she turned slightly, looked at Francis, and her icy expression softened. A warm smile lit up her face–one she never gave him, not even once.
Lawrence felt a thunderous pang in his chest. He clutched his heart, gasping for breath.
He’d thought she was just angry. That it was all a game.
But in that moment, watching her drive away with another Alpha…
He realized, with horrifying clarity–he was

losing her. For good.

Inside the car, Sophia sat quietly beside Alpha Francis. She held out her palm. “The marriage certificate.”
Francis narrowed his eyes suspiciously, his hand protectively resting over his pocket. “You’re not seriously thinking of getting back with Lawrence, are you?”
Sophia chuckled. “Would you let me?”
His expression turned icy. “Not a chance.”
Sophia leaned in and slipped her fingers into his pocket with practiced ease, pulling out the red booklet.
Her scent, wild and delicate, lingered as she leaned close. Francis’s body tensed. His eyes darkened for just a heartbeat.
Sophia didn’t notice. She opened the
certificate and stared at their photo inside.

She looked pale in the picture, so Francis had arranged a stylist to give her a light touch of makeup. She wore a faint smile. But what stunned her most… was him.
The Alpha known for his cold indifference, the terror of rival packs–was smiling.
Brightly.
As if he truly… liked her.
Sophia turned to him, words almost slipping out. “Francis, do you-
She caught herself. Changed tack.
“Aren’t you going to ask me to sign a prenup?”
