The grand hall was a mess–several bags of luggage tossed haphazardly on the floor. Sophia stepped closer and recognized them immediately. They were all hers.
Her face turned pale with fury as she shot a cold glare at Miranda and Luna Kayla. “These are my things. Who gave you the right to touch them?”
Luna Kayla slammed her teacup down with a sharp clang. “Ha! Look at you–pretending to be so respectful before, and now that you’re divorced, the mask finally comes off? This is my son’s house. Of course I have the right to deal with the garbage you left behind! You’re just in time. Pack up your junk and get out. Or I’ll have everything burned!”
There was a time when Sophia had truly treated this woman like family. She thought that if she worked hard enough, stayed kind enough, eventually she’d earn her place.

But she now realized some prejudice is a mountain too high to climb–unshakable, immovable.
Miranda rose deliberately from the sofa, hand resting theatrically on her belly. She strutted over to the bags, gave one a light kick, and sneered, “Sophia, you’re divorced. You’ve moved on. So what are your things still doing here? Still dreaming of getting back together with Lawrence?”
Luna Kayla’s face darkened. “In her dreams! My son will never take her back! That conniving bitch won’t set foot in the Adkins family ever again.”
She jabbed a finger at Sophia’s luggage.
“This place belongs to Miranda and
Lawrence now. Their wedding home. You’re lucky we haven’t tossed you out sooner. Are you going to move your trash or not? If not, I’ll make sure it all goes up in flames!”

Then she turned toward the house staff. “Why are you all still standing around? Get rid of it! Now!”
Sophia stepped forward, voice icy. “Get out of my way. I’ll move it myself.”
She barely got the words out when the front door slammed open.
Alpha Lawrence strode in, breathless. “Sophia! I heard you were back! You-”
He stopped dead in his tracks when his eyes landed on the chaos in the hall. His brows furrowed instantly.
“What’s going on here?”
Before Sophia could answer, Luna Kayla cut in, full of righteous indignation. “What else? She’s been squatting here ever since the divorce, and I finally had to come clean house myself!”
Lawrence’s expression shifted in an instant

-rage flashing through his eyes. “Mom! How could you treat Sophia like this? This is our former home. She has every right to leave her things here. No one–not you, not anyone -gets to throw them out!”
He spun toward Sophia, apologetic. “Sophia, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know they’d pull this stunt. I’ll have everything put back the way it was. And I’ll transfer the house into your name-”
“WHAT?!” Luna Kayla and Miranda shrieked in unison.
Luna Kayla smacked the table and stood up, her face a picture of fury. “Have you lost your damn mind?! She’s just an orphan–a nobody! You’re divorced! And you’re giving her the house? What about Miranda?! You’re married to her now! She’s carrying your pup!”
Lawrence’s jaw tightened. “That pup isn’t

“Lawrence!” Miranda rushed forward, yanking on his arm, her voice breaking in desperation. “You promised! You said you’d keep my secret! If you tell anyone, how am I supposed to face the world? I’d rather die!”
She dropped to her knees dramatically and lunged for the coffee table, trying to smash her head against it.
Luna Kayla shrieked and grabbed her. “Miranda! What are you doing?! You’re pregnant, for Moon’s sake! You can’t get upset like this!”
She shot Sophia a murderous look. “If anything happens to my grand–pup, I swear, I’ll make you pay!”
Miranda suddenly clutched her stomach and screamed, “My belly–it hurts! It hurts so bad!”
She collapsed to the floor in a fit of theatrical sobs. Lawrence instinctively bent down

into his chest, clinging to him like her life depended on it. “Lawrence! Please–it hurts! It hurts so much!”
Panic overtook Lawrence. He scooped her into his arms and dashed toward the door.
Luna Kayla hurried after him.
At the doorway, Lawrence hesitated for a heartbeat and turned to look at Sophia. His face was twisted in worry. “Sophia, I… I’ll take her to the hospital first. Please–wait for me. I’ll be right back.”
Sophia said nothing. She had seen this coming a mile away. Her lips curled into a faint, sarcastic smile, but her silence spoke louder than words.
Lawrence opened his mouth as if to say something more, but Miranda wailed again in his arms, and Luna Kayla barked from behind, “Why are you standing there? Drive!”
