Chapter 13
Sophia ignored the noise in her head and quietly bent down to sort through the luggage strewn across the floor. Most of it wasn’t important–just clothes and a few personal items–but buried among it all was the one thing she couldn’t bear to lose: an old photo album filled with pictures of her

and her parents, taken long before her world had fallen apart.
She pulled it free from the mess just as someone stepped through the front door. Startled, Sophia looked up–her eyes met those of Alpha Francis.

He had driven her here himself, but a sudden call had pulled him away right at the entrance, so he’d told her to go in first. From the way he now strode into the room, his expression dark and unreadable, she knew he’d seen the chaos–and more importantly, who had caused it.
“What happened?” His voice was low, clipped, already heavy with anger.
Earlier, Sophia had felt more numb than hurt. But now, meeting the piercing eyes of someone who genuinely cared for her, all those buried emotions began to rise–grief, humiliation, the ache of being treated like she was nothing. Maybe it was the simple kindness in Francis’s gaze that finally made

She gave him the barest summary, brushing over the cruel confrontation with Luna Kayla and Miranda. But it was enough.
Francis’s eyes turned ice–cold as he scanned the room. The maids shrank under his stare, flinching away like shadows caught in daylight.
One of them stammered, “We–we were just following orders…”
Sophia tugged lightly at his hand and shook her head. “Let it go. They’re just staff, doing what they’re told.”
He looked at her then, the fire in his gaze softening. “You’re always too forgiving.”
She gave a faint smile, hugging the photo album closer. “I’ve been at the bottom too long not to understand how hard it is to survive.”
As she started to kneel again to gather her

“No need,” he said gently. “I’ll have someone come pack everything up and move it for you. Whatever’s missing, we’ll buy new.”
Sophia nodded, pressing the album to her chest, and walked deeper into the house.
Francis made a quick call, and within minutes, several bodyguards arrived. He surveyed the space with a sharp gleam in his
eye.
“Pack up Luna Kayla’s things and send them back to her,” he ordered coldly. “Everything else–destroy it.”
“Yes, Alpha!”
They left that house behind and drove to the villa Francis had long prepared for her–a three–and–a–half–story standalone home that would now serve as their marital den.
The interior was sleek and modern, all clean lines and a monochrome palette. Black,

white, and gray dominated the design- elegant but a little too cold, like something from a magazine spread.
Sophia glanced around briefly but said nothing.
Francis led her into the study.
What she saw there made her pause–an entire wall lined with books, floor to ceiling. But he didn’t give her time to admire it for long. Instead, he crouched beside the desk, opened a drawer, and handed her a thick folder.
“Take a look.”
She hesitated, then opened it.
Inside were several property deeds.
Her breath caught.
She flipped one open–and saw her own

name written on the title deed. It was for the villa they were standing in.
Just this house alone was worth over ten
million.
Sophia’s eyes widened in disbelief. She looked up at Francis.
He smiled, relaxed and warm. “We got married in a rush. You didn’t ask for anything, so I took the liberty of preparing a few places for you. They’re in good neighborhoods. I think you’ll like them.”
He pulled out a card and placed it in her hand.
“This is yours. The PIN’s your birthday. If you don’t like the house’s current style, change it. Remodel it however you want. As for my assets… I’ve honestly lost track. But if you’re curious, I can have someone put together a report for you.”

He smiled again. “As for the wedding, I picked a new date–four months from now. Preparations are already underway.”
Sophia clutched the documents and the card, stunned.
Francis looked nothing like the aloof Alpha others described. When he faced her, his coldness melted into warmth- into something protective, patient, almost reverent.
No one had ever treated her this way.
Her eyes blurred as emotion swelled in her chest. She blinked it back, then met his gaze.
“Francis… why are you so good to me?Is it because I’m your fated mate?“”
He slipped an arm around her waist, voice husky with a hint of teasing warmth. “You’re my fate mate. Who else would I be good to?”

Sophia felt her heart tighten with something tender, something new. But still, she shook her head. “You know that’s not what I meant.”
Their time together had been brief. She couldn’t understand why someone like him— an Alpha with power and status–would treat her, a discarded mate, like treasure.
Francis chuckled softly. He leaned in, brushing a kiss against her lips.
“I’ll tell you,” he whispered, “on our wedding day.”
