Curled up in Alpha Francis’s arms, Sophia’s phone buzzed unexpectedly. She glanced down and saw the call was from a servant at the Adkins family estate.
Without needing to guess, she knew it was Alpha Lawrence, likely borrowing the servant’s phone to contact her. Her initial instinct was to hang up, but after a moment’s hesitation, she decided it was better to address things head–on.
The moment she answered, Alpha Lawrence’s voice came through, urgent and
accusatory.
“Sophia! Didn’t I tell you to wait for me at home? Why did you leave? And what happened to the house?”
His eyes scanned the wreckage of the estate. It was in even worse condition than before he had rushed Miranda to the

hospital. The once–tidy home was now a full–blown disaster zone, resembling a junkyard after a storm.
Taking a deep breath, he tried to compose himself. “No matter. If venting your anger like this made you feel better, that’s what matters. Besides, this house has needed a renovation for years. Let’s remodel it however you like.”
His magnanimous tone only made Sophia want to laugh.
“Lawrence,” she began, her voice calm yet firm, “I’m not the same Sophia you used to know. No one stays in the same place forever, waiting endlessly. And no one should have to spend night after night waiting alone for someone who doesn’t come home. I’ve moved forward. Please, don’t contact me again.”
Lawrence’s voice faltered, the weight of her words crashing down on him. But then his

tone turned defensive, almost pleading.
“But… I told you it was just a fake divorce! You love me, don’t you? Couldn’t you wait just one year? We could have remarried after that!”
Sophia shook her head, astonished at his obliviousness. He still didn’t understand what he had done wrong.
Her voice turned cold. “A fake divorce? Lawrence, you’ve been lying to yourself. That divorce certificate wasn’t fake, and neither was your affair with Miranda. Let’s not forget: Miranda is your fated mate. She was the one who needed you, who had no one to rely on, so naturally, my pup and I had to step aside. And once she has her pup, I’m sure you’ll worry about her being left a widow with a child to protect. My pup and I were just your backups, weren’t we? Well, I won’t live like that anymore–not for a single day longer.”
Lawrence’s breath hitched at her words, and

his desperation rose when he latched onto a single phrase.
“Your pup… Sophia, you’re carrying my pup! How could you marry Alpha Francis while pregnant with my child? That’s my pup!”
Sophia’s eyes burned with suppressed anger as she responded, her words slow and deliberate.
“There is no pup, Lawrence. I terminated the pregnancy long ago.”
“What?!” Lawrence’s voice erupted with fury and disbelief. “Sophia, how could you be so heartless? That was my pup too! How dare you make such a decision without consulting me?”
Her reply was ice cold. “And did you ask me before you decided to marry Miranda?”
With that, Sophia ended the call and immediately blocked the number. Her hand

She had wrestled with the decision for weeks, torn between keeping the child and protecting her future. But the Silver Claw Pack would never allow their Alpha heir’s bloodline to exist outside their control. Rather than spend her life locked in a battle with the Adkins family, she chose to endure the heartbreak for her own freedom.
Still, the memory left a faint ache in her chest. Before she could dwell on it further, Francis’s arms wrapped around her, warm and steady, pulling her back into his embrace.

Sophia relaxed instantly. She would have pups again someday, and she knew deep in her heart that Francis would be a wonderful
father.
She thought the confrontation with Lawrence was over, but she had
underestimated him. Unable to accept the truth, he went on a desperate, obsessive hunt to find her.
