Chapter 147
As soon as we’re done with our burgers, Perry starts setting everything up in the living room. I didn’t know this was a thing, but she pulled the coffee table up from where it was to make a huge table. It’s a 3D hologram projector. I’ve never seen one of these outside of TV. The others act as if it were a regular occurrence, but it’s literally the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.
“What happened?” Violetta asks.
“Before we get to this, I have something to tell you guys,” Perry interjects. “I think it’s got to do with this bullshit.”
“Okay, let’s start there.” Knight agrees.
He pulls me to him so I can sit close to him. The others find their spots and settle in while Perry starts up the table. I am fully invested in this, and I would like to know if I am allowed to use it.
“I haven’t told you guys this because I didn’t know what to make of it or where to begin. What happened with the Wraith was fucked and as the person leading the investigation, I was chosen to take his place.”
“What?” Violetta asks. “What do you mean chosen to take his place? By whom?”
Perry sighs heavily and rubs her face until it’s red.
“The wraith was running what they call sector Alpha Sixteen. Jonas and I were trying to get rid of everything so none of it would lead back to us, and then my father called.”
“What?” I ask.
“Yeah,” she nods. “He said I forced myself into this by doing what we had to do and that the others wanted me to replace the Wraith after turning into a Lycan. They call themselves the Fates. All this bio–engineering shit is them. They have seers and hunters planted all over the world and they monitor everything like we’re some big ass experiment.
“I have access to shit that I don’t even understand. Everything that once belonged to the Wraith now belongs to me. I was told that I had to put my team together and that I needed to do it as fast as possible because the other sectors aren’t very friendly. It’s like a competition of power, and at the moment,
with the addition of the silvers, we’re on top.”
“What the fuck?” Roman breaks the silence.
“The syndicate was just a small faction of the entire sector. We blew up one of many facilities the old man had established. I haven’t gone anywhere near the others because I’m not ready even to consider all of this, but shit is happening and I can’t ignore it anymore. I think Phoebe’s mother runs one of the other sectors, and that’s why Rizen was taken out. He knew too much.”
I turn my attention to Knight, who is staring at her with disbelief. He leans forward, rubbing his temples, and sighs heavily.
“This is the kind of shit you should have told us immediately,” Violetta is the first to snap.
“Vy,” Knight growls. She backs down and turns away from my sister.
“Nah, man. She’s right. Perry had no right to hide this from us.” Roman adds.
“They chose her,” Knight growls and stands, We all know how this shit works. Once we’re tagged, nothing changes the fact that we’re now pla clears his throat and looks up at Perry. “Have you chosen a team?”

“This is always going to be the team. I didn’t say anything sooner because we all had shit to catch up on, but Rizen is dead and I think it’s connected to
this.”
“What do you need a team for?” Roman asks.
“To run the sector. What the fuck do you mean what do I need a team for?” Perry scoffs at him. He immediately gets defensive.

“Enough,” Knight growls at the two of them. He turns his attention to Roman. “You came in here mad as fuck. I’ve told you about that shit. You’re not taking that rage out on the girls. What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“Nothing,” he rolls his eyes. “She just told us what she did, and of course, you’re going to take her side like you always do.”
“What are you talking about? There are no sides. What is arguing about this going to solve? Hmm? What the hell is going on with you?”
“I found my mate.” Baby answers. The room goes silent.
“Where?” Violetta asks after a moment.
“In Magique. Sam Barnes,” she says shyly.
“Oh, my god.” Perry laughs. “Congrats, Baby,”
She doesn’t seem thrilled about it, but accepts the hug. Roman is even angrier now that she’s said it. I don’t understand why that’s not good news to either of them, but Violetta and Knight don’t catch on. They seem genuinely happy for her.
“Why are you bitching about this? It’s good news.” Knight glares at him.
“He has a pregnant girlfriend,” Babys says quietly. “I’m thinking about rejecting him, but Rome wants me to do the thing.”
“Roman,” Perry growls at him.
“That’s not all. It’s their tradition to accept the bond no matter what.” Baby adds.
“It’s true,” Vy chimes in. “Sin’s Creek is adamant about the mating bonds. They still hold balls and have locations where they serve drinks with pink wolfsbane to up our wolf’s spirit. Sam is the third–born son of the alpha, and he will be required to take responsibility for all of this. How far along is
she?”
“Very. Like she might pop any day.” Roman scoffs.
“It’ll fall on Ramona to take care of the child. The mother will be extradited from the pack for attempting to trap the kid with a baby, even if that’s not the case. It won’t rule in her favor.”
“Which is why Rome wants you to kill her.” Perry sighs.
“I don’t want anything to do with them,” Baby says. “I don’t want to take care of some kid. Fuck that. I don’t even want kids. I’m nineteen.”
“In order to avoid the pack laws, you have to be outside the laws of the packs,” Vy says. “You’d have to drop out of the program so you can return to being a rogue.”
“This is bullshit. Why can’t she just reject him?” Roman growts. “She finally finds a place where she wants to be and this is what the fuck happens?”
“If Savage gets involved, it’ll be set in stone if she continues the program. Mate laws are absolute. You all know that. The King favors this pack in particular. You guys know everything about Sin’s Creek; this is their tradition.” Vy shrugs. “The choice comes down to you, Baby.”
“I’d rather be a rogue.” Baby falls on the couch next to her brother. “Can we talk about this sector sixteen shit?”
“Yeah,” I agree. “And you guys are more than welcome to stay with us if you have to. There’s more than enough room here. Knight is mad right now, but loves having you around, Roman. It’s safer if we’re/together.”
“Thank you, Phoebe,” he nods.
“I’m sorry, Ramona. If it were one of my wolves, I’d be able to help, but the Barnes are stubborn.” Vy sits next to her and takes her hand. Baby nods, and I can tell she wants to cry, but she’s holding strong.
“This is encoded,” Perry says. Images pop up on the projector and shift into little baby blue lines of code. She moves her hands in the air, spinning it, and the entire thing turns into a cube. She spins it and starts tapping on certain parts. The blue code turns red and then purple before it turns green. “That
