Chapter 4
Pierre’s POV
It’s been exactly one month since my dad died, which automatically makes it the day I Mark Dora Elvis as my mate and then become the Alpha of Moonrock Pack.
I let out a heavy sigh as I watched my reflection in the mirror.
In the past month, my life has not been the best. And it’s so sad that I might have to get used to it, cause once I become Alpha, that would be my normal life.
As I entered the grand hall, the murmur of conversations ceased, and all eyes turned to me. I scanned the room, acknowledging the familiar faces of pack members, dignitaries, and neighbouring pack leaders.
“Even the smallest smile would do,” my mom whispered as she adjusted my suit.
I forced a smile and she nodded in approval, “Congratulations in advance son.”
The ceremony began, and Elder Thompson’s voice boomed through the hall.
Today, we gather to witness the mating of Pierre Wilson and Dora Elvis. A union that will strengthen our pack’s alliances and secure our future.”
I glanced at Dora, her eyes shining with excitement.
But my thoughts drifted to Gemini.
The memory of her tears, her pain, still lingered.
What had she been up to?
Had she moved on?
I couldn’t help but think back to the day she went missing and then returned home bathed in another man’s scent.
The elder’s words snapped me back to reality.
“Pierre Wilson, do you accept Dora Elvis as your mate, promising to protect and cherish her?”
I took a deep breath.
“I do.”
Dora’s smile faltered for a moment, but she recovered quickly.
“Dora Elvis, do you accept Pierre Wilson as your mate, promising to stand by his side as Alpha?”
“I do,” she replied, her voice steady.
The elder pronounced us mated, and the hall erupted in applause.
As I turned to Dora, our lips met in a perfunctory kiss.
Moving on to the next thing on the list, it was time to be crowned Alpha,
I was just a few seconds from being the Alpha of Moonrock Pack.
But at what cost?
Gemini’s POV
I stood at the back of the hall, observing the ceremony with a mix of emotions.
Gavin’s whispered comment caught my attention.
“I don’t know if I’m the only one who sees this, but Pierre doesn’t look happy at all.” His thoughts surprisingly resonated with mine.

I nodded silently, sharing his sentiment
Pierre’s expression seemed forced, his smile lacking its usual warmth
As the elder pronounced Pierre and Dora mated, I felt a pang in my chest.
Why did it still hurt?
I thought I’d moved on
The hall erupted into applause, and I joined in, trying to blend in.
Just as the noise subsided, a hush fell over the hall.
Conversations ceased.
Breathing slowed.
The air thickened with anticipation.
The doors swung open, and a towering figure strode in. I couldn’t see his face because of where I stood, but I could swear that the aura in the room was familiar.
Could we have met before?
Every head bowed, including mine.
The silence was oppressive, heavy with reverence.
No one dared breathe.
In the silence of the moment, I could hear King Asher’s pounding foot against the hard tiles.
I thought he was heading to the front until a pair of large boots halted in front of me.
Finally, King Asher spoke. “Rise.”
Just like everyone else, I rose up, but what I saw made my heart skip.
The man who haunted my dreams. The stranger who saved me that fateful night. The man I puked on, stood in front of my eyes.
Our eyes met, and I felt a jolt of electricity.
“You.. You are the Lycan King?” I stuttered, and that was the last thing I remembered before I passed out.
“Gemini! Gemini!”
The distant voices in my head continued to grow louder until I finally woke up.
Gavin embraced me tight, “Why did you faint like that?”
My eyes went from Gavin to my mom several times, how was I supposed to tell them that I puked on the Lycan King and that he was probably here to punish me?
Up until today, I thought I wanted to see him again. But now that I’ve seen him, now that I know who he really is, I find myself regretting ever knowing him.
Gavin’s concerned expression made me force a smile.
“I’m fine, just a little overwhelmed,” I lied.
Mom’s eyes narrowed.
“Are you sure the Lycan King didn’t do anything to you? Cause I’ve heard about his ruthlessness and how he treats people. Maybe he~~~
I shook my head.
“It’s nothing. Mom. He didn’t do anything to me. You both should head back to the party, I would be fine.”

“Nah! I’m not leaving you here, all alone. What if he comes out of nowhere and tries to hurt you again.” Gavin replied, worried.
I giggled. “He won’t.”
Mom returned to the party cause of her Beta duties, but then Gavin refused to move an inch from me. He even went as far as laying his baseball bat by his side, just in case.
After about two hours, Mom returned with an unreadable expression on her face.
“What’s wrong, mom?” I asked curiously.
“King Asher is with the board of Elders, the ex Luna and the new Alpha.”
“And?” I asked, knowing she still had more to say.
“He wants to see you…”
