Chapter 74
Pierre’s POV
The scent of old paper and ink surrounded me as I sat at my desk, sifting through a mountain of files. My Beta, Amelia, stood beside me, her sharp eyes scanning the latest reports.
“Your majesty, you got a letter,” she said, her voice breaking through my concentration. She handed me a thick envelope, the royal seal of the Lycan King embossed on the front. My heart raced as I tore it open, my mind swelling with anticipation.
“Let’s see what we have here…” I muttered, scanning the elegant script.
As I read, a smile crept across my face. “It’s official! The project has been approved by the Lycan King!” I exclaimed, unable to contain my excitement.
Beta Amelia grinned, her excitement matching mine. “That’s great news, your majesty! I really prayed for him to approve this.” She said clapping her hands, relief evident in her demeanour. “So when… when do you meet with him?”
I glanced back at the letter. “In two months. I know it sounds like a long wait, but considering how busy he is, I’ll take it. I honestly expected to wait over a year.”
“Two months is a good timeframe,” Beta Amelia agreed, leaning against the desk. “This could be a game–changer for us.”

“Exactly! I didn’t think he’d even consider it. I just can’t wait to get this deal done with. I can already imagine what could be the qutcome of this.” I said, spreading my hands in the air as I delved deeper into the imagination of how our status could be elevated significantly.
But just as the thrill of the moment settled in, the door swung open, and Dora walked in, her presence instantly shifting the atmosphere in the room. My bright smile faded almost immediately.
“Hey, Pierre!” she chirped.
“Excuse me, your majesty.” Beta Amelia muttered before heading out.
“What do you want?” I asked, trying to sound as cold as possible. Just like mine, her smile faded, but she didn’t let it last.
She wore another manipulative grin as she stared down at me. “I was hoping we could have dinner together tonight. You know, as a little end–of–birthday gift to me?”
I barely met her gaze before returning to the files sprawled across my desk. “If you feel that the gifts I’ve given you aren’t enough, I can get you more. Just name it,” I replied, trying to keep my voice neutral.
Dora huffed, crossing her arms. “It’s not about the gifts, Pierre! It’s about spending time together. You never do anything with me. Not even the slightest bit of dinner!”
I could feel my patience wearing thin as she rushed through her words, her frustration spilling over. “We barely see each other in a day! How am I supposed to get pregnant if you’re always buried in work?”
The room fell silent, and I felt a surge of anger rise within me. “I never asked you to come into my life. You forced your way in, so live with the consequences and don’t complain.” My voice was cold, and I could see her cheeks flush with rage.
“You’re really something else, Pierre, But do you know who I blame?… Myself.” She said, beating her chest. “I blame myself for falling recklessly for a man who doesn’t give a fuck about me.”
Her eyes narrowed, and without another word, she slammed the door behind her, the sound echoing through the office. I took a full breath, attempting to quiet the tempest of feelings rising inside me.
When the clamour of her takeoff was blurred, I found my gaze shifting to the door for a split second. I reached into the drawer of my desk and pulled out a small, frame of photograph. It was an image of Gemini and myself.
I sighed, staring at the image. “I always wanted you to be the only woman in my life, other than my mom and sisters,” I whispered to the empty room, a full weight of emotions resting on my chest. “I wanted you to be my everything, down to the mother of my children.”
Memories flooded my mind, taking me back seven years to our teenage days. We were so naive then, believing in a forever that felt unbreakable.

Chapter 74
I could still hear her laughter, the way her eyes brightened when she talked about our future. “We’ll be together forever, right, Pierre?” she had asked, her voice full of hope.
“Of course,” I replied, wrapping my arms around her. “Nothing will ever come between us,” I said, looking down at her lips, and without thinking twice, I pressed mine on hers.
Her face instantly became red as she had never expected our first kiss to be so sudden. I mean, we weren’t even dating, but we remained locked in heart and soul for each other.
But there again—life had a way of complicating things, didn’t it? As I stared at the picture, tears threatened to spill from my eyes. I missed those innocent days when love felt easy and uncomplicated.
“I still believe in doing forever with you,” I murmured, holding the photograph close to my chest. The warmth of the memory enveloped me, and I closed my eyes, letting a stray tear escape.
The weight of my choices pressed heavily on my heart. I opened my eyes, glancing around the office. The walls felt like they were closing in on me. I had built this life, and yet, I felt trapped in it.
“Why can’t we go back to how it used to be?”
But I knew that was impossible. Time had moved on, and so had we, but the memories lingered like shadows, reminding me of what I had lost.
I stood up, pacing the room, trying to shake off the heaviness that settled in my chest. “Get it together, Pierre,” I muttered to myself, trying to get a hold of my emotions. But of course, it wasn’t working.
I just wish that I could tell her the main reason I did what I did-
