Chapter 88
Asher’s POV
I stood in the middle of nowhere, scanning the environment to understand the whole scenario before my eyes. It was like I had been enveloped in the clouds, a place depicting nothingness. It was all too surreal to be true, but something within me piqued at the sight.
What is this place and why am I here?
Suddenly, the once quiet and tranquil place erupted with a loud noise, although the cloud remained, limiting my vision. I could vividly hear the sound of war and it was as if the chaotic sound was coming towards me.
I struggled to wave off the clouds shielding my face, so that I could at least get a view of what I was being faced with, but it seemed almost impossible. The noise kept on increasing, triggering a more intense struggle on my end. And just when it felt like the sound of war was about to swallow me, I shot up.
Sweat dripped from my forehead, I also noticed that the desk where I had previously laid was wet. I took in a deep sigh, an attempt to pull myself together.
I looked around as if confirming if I was in another revelation or back to reality. But yes, this was reality… I was sitting behind the large desk
occupied with files in my office,
“What was that about?” I muttered to myself as if seeking answers from the other being inside of me.
Darryl on the other hand remained quiet and I could tell that he was just as confused as I was. But throughout the revelation, all I could picture was WAR. There’s war coming…
“Your majesty,” Alan called behind the door.
I could already smell that he wasn’t alone, the uniqueness of the other scent got me questioning what could be wrong.
“Come in!” I said, a bit of anticipation in my tone,
“Your majesty,” Alan said, bowing slightly as he entered the room.
I nodded at him, my eyes fixed on Gemini, who looked pale and withdrawn. “What’s going on?” I asked, my voice firm but laced with
concern.
“Nothing, Your Majesty,” Alan replied, his eyes darting nervously between Gemini and me. “Lady Gemini here insisted on seeing you.”
I turned my attention back to Gemini, who stood confidently beside Alàn, her eyes fixed on me. “Gemini, sit,” I said, gesturing to the chair in front of my desk.
But she refused. Instead, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small tube which I recognised as a pregnancy test.
“Gemini?” I muttered.
Alan’s eyes went wide, though a hint of joy immediately filled in. The pregnancy test was with two pink lines. Gemini’s voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke.
“I kept it in your room, hoping you would see it once you got back. But you didn’t leave the office, and you spent your night here.”
Her gaze was no longer fixed on me, in fact, it didn’t meet mine for another second. I felt a pang of guilt and surprise, my mind racing with questions.
But before I could say anything, Gemini turned and walked out of the room, leaving an overwhelmed me and then Alan. Of course, she was playing my game back and I should definitely not be bothered by her coldness. My eyes lingered on the now–shut door longer than expected, my thoughts in disarray.
Isoon noticed Alan’s eyes which seemed too heavy on me. “What?” I demanded.
He shook his head in resignation. “It’s nothing, your majesty.” But I guess he forgot about the fact that we were Lycan’s and Lycan’s can read lingering thoughts.
“You really think I can’t cope with her coldness, don’t you?” I slammed at him in annoyance.

“No, Your Majesty!” Alan defended. “That’s not what I meant. I was only considering the fact that you two are mates and that the bond would make it hard to keep off her.” His words felt rushed like he was trying too hard to let them all out in one sentence to avoid being misunderstood.
But I still chose to read the wrong meaning of his words. “So, you think I’m not capable of handling my feelings towards my mate?” I asked, my tone laced with annoyance.
Alan shook his head quickly, his hands raised in a placating gesture. “No, Your Majesty, that’s not what I meant. I was just talking about how the mate bond betrays our feelings sometimes. We might want something but it makes us do another thing entirely.”
“So what are you insinuating?” I interjected.
He could clearly see the anger in my eyes so he hesitated, “Speak now if you don’t want to end up being ripped apart.” I threatened.
“It’s just, your majesty… I think this is the time to go closer to your mate. You know, because of the pregnancy. She might need you around now more than ever.”
I cut him off, my voice cold. “I don’t need your advice on how to handle my mate, Alan.”
Alan’s face fell, but he nodded respectfully. “Yes, Your Majesty. I apologize if I overstepped.”
waved my hand dismissively. “Just get out. I need some time to think.”
Alan bowed and quickly exited the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I leaned back in my chair, my eyes fixed, on the door Gemini had walked out of.
A baby. Gemini is having my baby. Again!
Finally, one out of the many unfulfillments was coming into reality. But what I have to do now is to make sure that no one harms Gemini or my child, ensuring safe delivery.
This is a very critical issue and I can’t afford to lose another child, it would definitely cause Gemini to stay longer and increase the chances of us falling deeper for each other. I can’t afford that…
A soft chuckle echoed in my head, amidst the weird thoughts. “Did you just admit to the fact that you are in love with our mate?”
