Chapter 99
Gemini’s POV
It was 2 am-
Silence hung heavy over the whole pack, I picked up my boots, draping my coat over my shoulder as I stepped out. I thought it best to walk barefoot because I couldn’t afford to be caught sneaking out of the house. Not like I was off to carry out some kind of evil deed, but because I couldn’t move out without Asher’s permission which he never granted.
I didn’t expect the guards to be foolish enough to eat the food I made for them, but luckily for me, they trusted me and cleared the plates like they had been left to starve for years.
I took out my phone and tapped Levi’s number- sending him a message on WhatsApp.
He seemed to be offline and so I buzzed him up.
A few rings and his voice burst through the speakers, “Hello, ma’am?”
“I’m outside the training centre,” I said in a hushed tone.
“Alright ma’am, I’ll be there shortly!” He said and I hung up.
I stayed as quiet as possible so as to avoid drawing the attention of the guards on patrol.
Soon a figure approached form the dark night. I remained quiet and stuck to the spot till I could fully see who it was. “Thank goodness it’s you.” I whispered, holding onto my chest.
“Greetings your majesty,” He greeted but I immediately cut in.
“Skip the formalities, let’s get in!”
He immediately unlocked the doors and we got in.
We trained for hours, the adrenaline rush coursing through my veins like a river. Levi once again was a great instructor, pushing me to my limits and beyond. By the time we finished, I was completely exhausted.
“Please Levi let this never get to the ears of King Asher.” I pleaded as soon as we were done.

He shook his head understandably, “It would never, I know how much trouble I would be in if he finds out I’m doing this for you and I don’t want to suffer his wrath.” He whispered, trying to keep his voice extremely low to avoid us getting caught.
“I still can’t believe you agreed to take such a big risk for me. Thank you so very much.” I said patting his hand slightly in a friendly
motion.
“It’s nothing, your majesty. You can always call on me whenever you need me.”
“Thank you,” I said once again as we headed towards the door. “I promise to repay you in any possible way I can.”
Levi closed the space between us, his eyes intensely on mine. “Anything?” He repeated.
I immediately became speechless, my heart pounding erratically as I locked my gaze on him. “Don’t be scared, I won’t ask for something you can’t give to me,” Levi said, pulling away.
Even after leaving the centre, I couldn’t get that moment out of my head. The way he just suddenly began to look at me with so much desire in his eyes, the way he closed the space between us, the way I forgot how to react or even what to say. Everything just kept replaying in my mind.
As I made my way back to the main building, I caught sight of a figure which seemed out of place and extremely suspicious. The figure avoided the lights just like I had done while making my way here, his movements similar to that of a person who was secretly doing a thing. Someone like myself.
At first guess, I thought it was Levi, but this wasn’t the direction he took. We went in two different directions.
Everyone had their secrets, I thought, turning to face my destination once again, but before I could, I caught a glimpse of the figure

under the rays of the blinding light which he somehow couldn’t avoid.
“Elder Phillips?” I muttered to myself.
Soon he disappeared into the darkness again and he was nowhere to be found. My curiosity piqued, causing me to follow his last tracks, hoping to find out where he had entered.
Following his movements led me back to where I was coming from the training centre. But then it was locked, I literally witnessed Levi lock that door, so how did he get in so quickly without struggling to open it first?
My questions were soon answered when I noticed a small dark passage on the edge of the training centre. I took off my she’s to make my footsteps barely sound on the cold floor.
What if he had seen me too, or sensed me? I thought, thinking to retreat. But I so badly wanted to know what he was up to.
Soon I began to hear low murmurs drift out of a corner of the passage. The voices that resounded from there weren’t just that of Elder Phillips, but also that of whoever he was meeting. The voice of the other sending a jolt of surprise through me. That was unmistakably- Becca’s voice.
What is she doing here? I wondered, my mind racing with possibilities.
And
And then, like an unexpected punch to the gut, I heard Becca say, “Dad, I’m telling you, it’s not safe that way, what if Asher finds out before we even strike?”
Becca called Elder Phillips “Dad“? How was that even possible?
I didn’t even know which to be worried about, the fact that they were plotting against Asher or the fact that I just overheard Becca call Elder Phillips’s dad. Or was there someone else with them which I knew nought about?
