Chapter 10 Lady Luck Is on My Side
“Uncle Evan, we’ll put aside the fact that you think that I’m doing this because of some lovers‘ quarrel for now.
“However, you need to apologize for blocking my number, unblock me, and swear you’ll never block my number again. I’m not leaving otherwise!”
My ideas were all just weak, childish tricks to Evan. They wouldn’t affect him at all, so I might as well just tell him my aim.
The five minutes were up by the time I finished my sentence. The beeping alarm seemed to be telling me that I should leave. I cried until I could barely catch my breath.
“That’s enough now. Stop crying.” Evan handed his phone to me and let me unblock myself.
I was still sobbing as I asked, “Will you block me again?”
Evan frowned. “No.”
“You promised! If you break it, you’re no better than a dog!”
When he nodded, I beamed and cried tears of joy. Then, I took. a few selfies and picked the best one to set as Evan’s
wallpaper.
I teased him, saying, “This is your punishment for blocking my number. You’re not allowed to change it for one month.”
When I angrily returned Evan’s phone to him, I secretly
memorized the model of his phone. He was using a black one, so I would buy a white one to match his.
“Okay now. I won’t bother you any longer. Goodbye!” Then, I turned around and left.
Although I left coolly, I was hoping that Evan would chase after me. It was already 8:00 a.m. I was a girl and a drunk one at that. Since he wouldn’t let me stay, was he going to send me
home?
I happily walked over to the elevator. But even after entering the elevator, I didn’t see Evan chase after me. What a cruel
man.
I took the elevator to the lobby with a long face. When I walked out of the club, I looked back every three steps. Was Evan really going to leave me like this? I took a deep breath.
Just when I was thinking about hailing a cab, a black car suddenly drove over. When the windows rolled down to reveal Evan’s expressionless, but handsome, face, the sadness on my face was immediately replaced by surprise and happiness.
“Uncle Evan, I knew you wouldn’t leave me like this!” When I jumped into the car, my stomach growled loudly.
I teared up and said pitifully, “When I got the results in the afternoon, I immediately came to see you and forgot to eat…”
“What do you want to eat?” Evan’s eyes were fixed on the road. His expression was still cold.
I thought I was hallucinating. “C–Can we have barbecue? It’ll be won’t take up much of your time. We can just pick a

random restaurant. It shouldn’t take longer than an hour.”
I spoke cautiously. My heart was racing. I was afraid he would
reject me.
However, Evan didn’t say anything, but he slammed on the gas and drove faster. It meant that he agreed. He really was a man of few words.
He looked like he left in a hurry. He didn’t put on his suit jacket, so he was only wearing a black dress shirt. The button on his collar was left open, exposing his neck..
I could see his sexy Adam’s apple from my angle. He was also wearing a wristwatch.
Gosh, a luxury car and a branded watch on the ideal man, not to mention that Adam’s apple that would bop whenever he swallowed… Biting it would feel so good.
“Julia!” Perhaps because I was being too obvious, Evan glared at me and scolded, “Can’t you control yourself?”
“Try holding back when you’re with the person you like. I doubt it’ll be easy.”
Just when I leaned closer to him to press myself against hist arm, we arrived at the barbecue restaurant.
“Hurry up and get out of the car.” Evan shot me a cold sideglance.
His cold and abstinent demeanor failed to discourage me and instead spurred me on. I was going to pull him off his podium and dr him down to my level one day!
Just then, Evan’s phone started ringing. After getting out of the car, I tried to eavesdrop on his call while ordering.
I barely overheard that Evan urgently needed a translator who knew Vyrelyn to accompany him on a business trip with him the day after tomorrow.
I laughed inwardly. Lady Luck was on my side. My dad specialized in teaching rare languages. Under his harsh
instruction, I learned to speak fluent Vyrelyn by the time I was seven years old.
“Uncle Evan, I know Vyrelyn, so why not hire me? I don’t need a salary. Just take care of my living expenses. Coincidently, my mom wanted me to get a part–time job during my summer break!”
I childishly leaned closer to him. Evan looked surprised.
