Chapter 3
In the afternoon, Alpha Albert’s parents arrived.
The moment they saw me, their indifference was as palpable as ever.
“Let’s go see how Sini is doing later,” Alpha Albert’s mother said coldly after touring our home, turning to his father without sparing me a glance.
Alpha Albert’s father gave a curt nod. “What’s done is done. All we can do now is hope the- Moon Goddess truly hasn’t made a mistake.”
With that, the two of them walked out hand in hand, completely ignoring my presence.
It was only recently that I began to

understand why Alpha Albert’s parents disregarded me.
In their eyes, the only one worthy of being his Luna was Sini.
After they left, I stood by the open doorway, my breathing quickening.
“This is my one and only chance. I must succeed,” I whispered to myself, taking a deep breath to steady my resolve.
Silently, I slipped out of the house, trailing behind the two elders.
Once I reached a secluded corner, I shifted my form. Taking another deep breath, I bolted towards the forest, the wind carrying the intoxicating scent of freedom.
The faster I ran, the closer I felt to breaking

free–until a larger, stronger wolf pounced on me, sending us both tumbling to the ground.
The scent was unmistakable. It was Alpha Albert.
His fangs hovered dangerously close to my neck, a chilling reminder that, with a single motion, he could end my life in an instant.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Alpha Albert growled, pinning me firmly beneath him.
I braced my hind legs, ready to retaliate at any moment.
“I’m leaving” I said, my voice steady despite the turmoil within me.
With a sudden push, I attempted to kick him off, but he anticipated the move, slamming

me back down.
“Not a chance,” Alpha Albert hissed, his icy tone sending chills through me. His deep, piercing gaze shifted to my forelimbs, his grip tightening.
In my terrified gaze, Alpha Albert bit down hard, severing my forelimb.
The excruciating pain forced me to shift forms repeatedly until I finally reverted to my human form, clutching my mangled arm.
“You are not allowed to leave me!” Alpha Albert roared. “This is your punishment.”
The agony robbed me of my voice, leaving me writhing on the ground, holding my broken arm.
Before long, the sharp, metallic tang of

my blood saturated the air. The relentless flow drained me until darkness claimed my
senses.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in the pack’s hospital.
A nurse noticed I was awake and smiled brightly.
“Luna, you’re finally awake! When Alpha Albert brought you in, your upper body was covered in blood.”
I tried to speak, but a rush of cold air filled my mouth.
My tongue!
Panicked, I let out hoarse, incoherent sounds.

The nurse seemed to understand my confusion and continued explaining. “When you were attacked by rogues, your tongue and left hand were bitten off. Alpha Albert rescued you and brought you back.”
Terror filled my eyes. No, that’s not what happened.
But the nurse paid no attention to my silent protest and carried on cheerfully. “Alpha Albert will be so happy to see you awake. Let me go inform him.”
I frantically shook my head, desperate to stop her, but no one cared.
Before long, Alpha Albert arrived with the hospital director and several doctors in tow.
The attack on the pack’s Luna was a
significant event for everyone.

“When will my Luna be able to leave the hospital?” Alpha Albert asked, his voice dripping with concern. “She’s always been so timid. I’m afraid staying here will only remind her of those terrible memories.”
“I’d prefer to take her home today,” he added firmly.
The director didn’t hesitate to comply, immediately arranging for my discharge.
No one in the entire hospital even glanced in my direction to ask what I wanted.
That night, Alpha Albert restrained me once again.
“Still thinking of leaving?” Alpha Albert sneered coldly. “Forget it.”
