Chapter 3
As predicted, Axl made an excuse as to why he couldn’t come home tonight. He said
there was a sudden rogue attack that he needed to take care of. It made me chuckle
when I read his text. But I was glad because it allowed me to pack my luggage without destruction, and I left the house unnoticed.
I took a taxi to the airport and left my car. On the way, the storm was brewing, and the rain was pouring. But it was nothing. compared to the chaos in my heart. The memory of Axl proposing to another woman kept replaying in my head, making me angry and hurt.
My phone inside my pocket buzzed, cutting my thoughts. Axl’s name flashed on the
screen. I hesitated for a moment but decided to answer it.
“Lianna,” his voice was tight and strained.
“Where are you? You were supposed to be

at the packhouse hours ago. The guests are all here waiting…”
“We’re not doing this. The mating ceremony is off,” I interrupted, my voice cold and emotionless.
There was silence on the other end, and I could almost hear Axl sigh and process his words.
“What are you talking about? You can’t be serious. Lianna, this is the mating ceremony we are talking about. We have been waiting and preparing for this for months. The entire pack is…”
“Axl, you proposed to someone else. You chose her, not me,” I snapped.
Silence once again. But when Axl came back, he spoke calmer and quieter this time.
“Lianna, I know what you saw, but you’re not thinking clearly. I was drunk, and like any drunk person, I did things without thinking. It was nothing. This isn’t

something you just threw away at the pit of your annoyance.”
I laughed, and I could feel Axl gritting his teeth out of anger.
“You were sober to me when you proposed to her. You have been talking and seeing her for months now. You even left me to go to her the next day it happened. What more do I need to know?”
“Lia is…” Axl hesitated as if searching for the right words.
“Lianna, it’s complicated. You don’t understand the whole situation.”
“I understand perfectly! You don’t want me. Fine! I’m not going back.”
‘Lianna, please…” Axl pleaded, but I cut
him off.
“It’s over, Axl. Don’t call me again.”
I hung up, shoving the phone back into my pocket. The rain poured louder than
earlier. And the weight of what had

happened crashed down on me. Tears fell from my eyes, and my chest tightened. I wiped my tears and took a deep breath. I pulled myself together just in time for the airport to come into view. The driver was now heading to the international departure. drop–off.
I had just taken my luggage from the taxi when I heard a voice.
“Lianna?”
I froze, and my heart skipped. It was a familiar voice from someone I hadn’t seen in years. I slowly turned to find Aiden King, Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack, and my ninth–grade classmate. His dark blonde hair got plastered to his forehead from the rain, and his eyes filled with concern.
“I thought you were going to have a mating ceremony. Why are you here?” Aiden said with a deep, low voice filled with curiosity.
“I needed to clear my head. I couldn’t stay

at the pack house,” I replied with a whisper
voice.
Aiden studied me for a moment, then slowly nodded and said, “I also heard what happened at Axl’s bachelor’s party.”
News traveled so fast. By now, everyone would know that Axl had chosen Lia over me, and our mating ceremony was a lie.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” I said and dragged my luggage to head inside the airport.
Axl took a step closer, his gaze not leaving mine.
“Lianna, Axl made a mistake. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
I shook my head and held back my tears.
“He proposed to her, Aiden. He put a ring on her finger.”
Aiden‘ s jaw tightened. I thought he would say something that would make it all
better. But instead, he just sighed.

“Understood. If you need to leave, let’s go inside.”
He was the first person who didn’t really stop me and saw my pain. Everyone was stuck with the excuse that Axl was just drunk and made a mistake.
We went inside without speaking and immediately went to our respective counters. We didn’t ask each other where
we were going. We just checked in our baggage and took our boarding pass. Once done, we went to a small cafe and waited for our boarding.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do. Everything I thought I knew is…gone,” I admitted with a shaky voice while sipping my tea.
Aiden reached out and gently touched my
arm.
“I know you’re stronger than this, Lianna. Don t let him take that away from you. I am sure you will figure things out.”

He smiled at me, and his words warmed my heart. It eased the doubts that I was feeling about my decision. Then, my phone. vibrated, and it was one of the council members of the pack. I wasn’t surprised by
the call.
“Ms. Lianna, if you can’t come to the mating ceremony for some reason, I think it’s best to postpone it. Axl also disappeared and is nowhere to be found. The entire pack and some guests are getting irritated from waiting. It’s disrespectful to everyone. And the council members were left to deal with the situation,” she said, annoyed.
“I’m very sorry for the trouble. Axl didn’t have the balls to say that the mating ceremony was canceled,” I said and cut the call. I didn’t want her to ask questions. because surely, she would just give excuses.
for Axl’s behavior.
Aiden was looking at me, I smiled and said, “You know what, I think you are right. I deserved someone better.”
