Fiona’s hands clenched in her lap as she tried to make sense of everything. This history still doesn’t answer her question; why do they want her?
The king nodded slowly. “They could have been waiting for any sign of weakness or an opportunity. But there’s another reason why I think they’re
focused on you.”
Fiona looked up, her brows furrowing in confusion. “What do you mean?”
King Nicholas gestured toward the necklace hanging around Fiona’s neck. “That necklace you’re wearing–it might hold a deeper this whole situation. I believe it belonged to that woman, the one who was at the center of the war.”

Fiona’s hand instinctively went to the pendant, her fingers tracing the smooth metal. Elijah had already told her about this. “How?” she asked.
“Exactly,” the king said. “That necklace was passed down through Elijah’s ancestors. It’s been in the royal family for generations, and until the recent attack. I couldn’t be sure of its true origin. But now, with everything happening, I believe it once belonged to that woman–the Rosenthal who was caught between the Vampire Prince and the Lycan Alpha.”
King Nicholas continued. “That’s what I believe. At some point, she must have crossed paths with your ancestor, The details are murky, but the necklace was likely a gift, a symbol of something important. It’s been passed down through the royal line ever since”
Fiona’s fingers tightened around the necklace. “And now the Lycans want it–or me–because of what it represents.”
“Possibly the king said. “It’s more than just a piece of jewelry. It could be a key to unlocking something they’ve been searching for, or it could simply be a reminder of their hatred for the Rosenthal family. Either way, it’s drawn their attention to you.”
