Chapter 30
Eleanor
By the time I was done with my makeup, it was already past seven. “Shit,” I muttered when I got a glance at the wall clock in my room
The clock wasn’t just anywhere but right at the top where my mirror was pinned. I’ve always had issues keeping to time when it comes to my makeover so I took extra effort to make sure I got it all set out.
“Here we go.” I muttered gently and reached for the last thing I needed, red lipstick. I smacked my lips after applying a good portion and then stared at my reflection ne last time.
I grabbed my bag and stormed out of my room and then it hit me; the aroma permeating the air,
“Oh my god, what do I smell!”
a iny.
There was no response until I got to the dining and saw breakfast. A smile tugged on my lips immediately and just then, Vi came out holding a “Good thing you’re ready. I made breakfast.”“
“Wow,” I mattered again, too shocked and excited to even think of something else. “I wasn’t expecting it, girl–oh my god, this is so amazing. Fuck. this smells so good”
Flowered my stance to the chair and reached for the hot cup of tea. “How did you do 11!”
“Do what exactly! The food or teat
“Girl-“I blaned and stopped “Everything” I took a deep breath, shaking my head before reaching for a fork to dig remember the last time I luod proper breakfast before work
Her brows arched in shock.
“I’m serious—I just can’t seem to wake up early enough to get it all done.
You used to be a great cook, Nor”
g into my food. “I can’t even
“Used to?” I repeated and Laughed, before showing the fork in my mouth. I munched and hummed in sincere satisfaction. “It’s gotta be whatever you say right now. This food is too delicioas to leave and argue”
“On crazy girl,” she teased, “And slamn, you should go easy.
Aside from the meal being delicious, was running late for work, and well, I had no idea what or even how to go about
1 get it.” Vi said after a while of watching me trying to eat in haste. “You’re late but you do not want to leave the food.”
“Smart ass,” I answered, gulping water. “I hate that my makeup look too much time and now, I have httle time for this”
“You need to reschedule your damn time for the makeup, babe
“Agreed.”
“Else you’ll keep missing breakfast. I could never
so you’ve never missed a meal‘ Even to work on your busiest days?”
“Never,” she answered, taking off her apron. “Dante makes breakfast for me every morning. Damn, if I ever have to miss breakfast, then it’s cause he got married or something”

I laughed, shaking my head but it was more because it did amaze me. I can’t remember the last time anyone cooked for me-
“That’s really amazing,” I muttered.
Vi smiled. “Til be right back.”
I continued my meal, unsure of when next I’d be able to make this. I really have no idea how I’ve been surviving without a proper breakfast. I’d ordinarily blame it on my work and all but I don’t think my job has got anything to do with this. Maybe I’m just being too lazy.
“Here you go,” Vi announced and I looked up “A lunch pack?”
My face was beaming with uncontrollable smiles and I honestly need a blush reliever to stop sailing. “Damn, I feel sixteen again. Going to school

with a lunch pack and all.”
“If that’s what it’d take to help you have a nice day, then girl—have it all”
“Thank you so much.” I rose to my feet reaching for my bag and the lunch bag from her hands. “I’m definitely going to be having a super amazing day
“With all that beauty?” she queried. “I don’t expect less. The only thing I’m expecting is an explanation of why you’ve dressed this good. Don’t get me wrong, you aheays dress good but girl, I know something when I see is.
I swallowed hard and gave a small nod. I was kind of thinking that this one would pass but since we’re here, cool. “Uh–I’m sure I have always been dressing this good.”
“It’s more like you put in more effort with the outfit, hairstyling, and even the makeup. Nals, girl, you
I can’t tell me it’s nothing
I tried to conceal the smile threatening to tug on my lips but I failed so badly, “I just think it’s okay to put in the work with your looks and I’ve been sloing that
“Since Avro’s visi
Here we
we go. 1 sighed and took one step back from the dining table. “It’s nothing to worry about, VL. I just don’t want to be caught off guard.”
“I don’t get this,” she frowned. “You told me you have a meeting with his representative.”
Inodded. “That’s correct”
“So what’s the line about being caught off guard for!”
“Uh–I just have a feeling Avro said that so I wouldn’t expect him. I’m just keeping an open mind, that’s all.”
Viola didn’t seem pleased with that response but I didn’t have a second more to spare. I got to the office later than I’ve ever been and with determination in my steps, I headed to the private elevator leading to my office.
The moment the elevator dinged. 1 clunched both my bag and my amazing package, fighter–hoping my makeup was still in place.
“Definitely is, I blurted in my head and kept moving at a gentle and calculated stride,
“Miss Nor! Damn, I was already calling your phone number.
I turned to find one of my employees. Stacey y with a smile
“Hello Stacey, good morning.”
Her attire was professional, a silk top and pencil skirt just like mine but her hair–well, her hair was ridiculously packed in two pigtails like a high school cheerleader.
“Good morning, ma’am. Do you mind” I followed her line of vision and figured she was talking about my bag and lunch pack.
“Oh! Don’t worry about this, thanks.” I paused, to see if there was anything else she needed to say as per the treatment and all.
“Uh–you have a visitor,” she announced, giggling. “A very handsome man.
A lump formed in my throat at the mention of that and 1 held back a smirk. Knew it’d be him.
“He must be expecting me.”
