Chapter 5
I accepted Omega Camille’s friend request.
Not because I wanted to, but because I had to see for myself.
The first thing I did was check her social media. My heart clenched as I saw the same post Alpha Lucas had shared–the wedding photos.
Her caption read: “Wish fulfilled!”
My fingers hovered over the screen,
trembling. I scrolled further, finding a neatly written list of her wishes.
The first one read: “Take wedding photos with the person I love.”

She had crossed it off.
I continued down the list. Every wish was intimate and personal.
“Ride a Ferris wheel with the person I love. kiss at the top.”
The words pierced me like a blade. That wish was once mine, too.
I remembered the day I had asked Alpha Lucas to ride a Ferris wheel with me. He had looked up at the towering wheel, his face pale with unease.
“Emily, it’s too high,” he had said, his voice wavering. “Let’s choose something else.”
I laughed at him and went on the Ferris wheel alone. From the top, I took a selfie, leaning low to show Alpha Lucas the view.

“I’ve got a view for you!”
When I disembarked, Alpha Lucas enveloped me in his arms and kissed me, his eyes shining with a warmth that spoke of deep affection.
“You’re more romantic than I am,” he had whispered.
At that moment, I thought it was romantic,
too.
I also had a slight fear of heights, and coming down left me a bit dizzy and nauseous. But seeing Alpha Lucas’s joy, I felt happy.
Now, the thought of Alpha Lucas sharing that same moment with Omega Camille- their kiss each other at the top of a Ferris

wheel–made bile rise in my throat.
I rushed to the bathroom, barely making it in time before the nausea overwhelmed me.
My body shook as I gripped the edge of the sink, trying to steady myself. It had been months since I’d last thrown up.
During the early days of my pregnancy, when morning sickness was at its peak, Alpha Lucas had always been there. He would rub soothing circles on my back, murmuring comforting words, and hand me a glass of
warm water.
Now, there was no one to help.
I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, staring at the remnants of my sickness swirling down the drain.
