Xavier rushed to the hospital leaving his crying mother behind.
“Mia will be alright, she is a strong woman… Yes she has to be alright for me, for the sake of her child.” my husband trembled as he reached the hospital looking around like he was clueless where to find me.
He went to the reception, breathless.
My.. My wife Mia was caught into an accident yesterday night a–and was rushed here.” his voice broke as tears streamed down his face.
“I don’t know the whereabouts of my wife at all, please…please help me out.”
The nurse’s expression did not falter as she looked at Xavier emotionlessly realizing who he was. She typed something on her screen before replying stoically.
“Yes, sir, we did rescue a woman

yesterday. A week ago she was here at the hospital after going through a similar accident. That time she had called you multiple times while she was stuck in the car but when you did not answer, we could only save her after hours of delay making her lose a lot of blood.
Since she went to a life–threatening surgery previously, this time the doctors could not help much.”
“What do you mean ‘could not help much?” Xavier’s voice cracked, fear clawing at his chest. The more he heard, the more he felt like it was he who deliberately ruined my life.
“I’m so sorry, sir but due to your negligence, your wife could not make it. She passed away this morning.”
Xavier’s world shattered at that moment. “No it’s not possible” he whispered, his knees buckling.
“She promised to stay with me forever!

Please check again, you are lying to me!” Xavier shouted, making a nearby doctor come to him to see what was happening.
“You all are liars! How can it happen when she was absolutely fine yesterday!”
“Sir, were you with her in the taxi?” Xavier froze as he recalled how many times I had asked him to not leave me alone. No, he was not with me, instead, he was dropping off Vanessa.
“This isn’t real, no this is not possible!”
Xavier stood up abruptly when he saw a man turning just around the corner, his stature regal, and unmistakably of a wolf that was stronger than an Alpha. Xavier‘ s heart skipped a beat as recognition set in.
“Prince Felix?” Xavier could not miss him at all. The man from the video–the one
who had been with Mia.

But before Felix could respond, another figure stepped between them, my brother Jake.
“Take him away!” Jake growled, shoving Xavier so hard that he fell back.
“Please listen to me once! Where is Mia? Where is my child? They are all lying, telling me that my wife is no more.”
“Why do you care if she is dead or alive? Aren’t you already celebrating your wife’s death with your mistress?”
“What the hell are you talking about? Mia is my mate! I love her-”
“Shut the hell up before I claw your fucking heart out you dirty bastard!” Felix growled. in rage making the entire building tremble with the thundering bitter roar that sent chills down Xavier’s spine.
“You tortured your wife and call your disgusting feeling love!”

on Xavier’s face angrily.
Confused, Xavier bent down and picked up the documents. His bloodshot eyes glancing through the pages quickly, each one more horrifying than the last.
Photos of burn marks on my hands from cooking accompanied by a report where the hospital found I was given a constant dose of drugs in small quantities designed to cause sterility. The final report detailed a miscarriage, dated the same day Xavier had been hosting a party with Vanessa.
Xavier‘ s face contorted as he looked horrified. “What… What is this?” he whispered.
“Mia, my wife…suffered a miscarriage? Somebody was giving her…drugs” Xavier could not complete the sentence as the papers fell down from his hand as sobs racking his body. “I didn’t know. I… I didn’t mean to-

“Please let me see her even if it’s just for moment.” Xavier pleaded to my brothers to which Jake smiled without a single ounce of happiness.

“Are you worried that she is not yet dead? Well don’t worry, there is no need to check if you have left even a piece of her alive. She is so thoroughly broken that she would never be able to come in between you and your mistress, and you killed any chance of being a father the day you chose Vanessa over Mia.”
The weight of their words crushed him, leaving him gasping for air. He had lost everything–Mia, their unborn child, and the chance to make things right.
As the brothers turned to leave, Jake paused at the door. “You asked for the truth,” he said without looking back.
“Now live with it, your wife Mia is dead.”

When my brothers entered my ward, they shut the door behind me to see our parents holding my hand.
“That bastard was here! To think he dares to show his face!”
At that moment a miracle happened as I weekly opened my eyes. My brothers rushed to my side and as soon as I looked at them tears filled my eyes.
“Dad?” I whispered, my father was the first person I called for when I woke up.
“S–Sorry” Barely getting the word out of my mouth I tried to apologise for my stupidity, to rebel for a man who treated me like a worn shoe.
“Mia!” my mother exclaimed.
“You‘ re safe now, my little treasure, dad is here to protect you.” Those were the last words I heard before fainting again.
