Whywhy would you want to change the piano teacher all of a sudden?”

Yeah, Vivi, Aaro has grown fond of this teacher, and I think he’s doing a good job. There’s really no need to switch, right?”

Eden’s parents carefully tried to persuade me, their eyes full of probing

I lowered my gaze, hiding the mockery in my eyes, and nodded in agreement

Alright, I’ll take your advice and leave things as they are.”

Only then did they finally seem to relax

Immediately, Eden’s mother spoke up again

By the way, Vivi, Mrs. Daves from next door -her son bought her a scooter. I think it’s great for shopping and running errands.”

Eddie’s father and I are getting older, our legs aren’t what they used to be, and I”

Her tone, coaxing and gentle, only made me feel amused

Since I married Eden, I had treated them as my own parents, trying to take care of them. Over the past four years, I’d bought them a house, bought all kinds of supplements

Eden’s parents had originally been just ordinary workers, frugal and hardworking. But now, they seemed more like retired elders with a hefty pension, their bodies round with prosperity, unable to hide their new wealth

I knew exactly what Eden’s mother was getting at

If this were yesterday, I would have probably rushed to take them to see the car without hesitation

But today, all I felt was irritation

Fortunately, a phone call from my secretary provided me with a perfect excuse to make a graceful exit

Sitting in the car, I looked at the message Eden had sent me on my phone and couldn’t help but let out a derisive laugh

[Vivi, I took Aaro for a walk. Daisy happened to be going to the mall, so I brought her along too.

Such an open tone, I couldn’t find a single flaw in it

If I hadn’t already seen Daisy’s post on her social media…

There, Eden and Aaro were smiling brightly at the camera, while Daisy stood in between them, looking like the happy wife and mother in a family portrait

[The best part of the weekendshopping together at the supermarket!

I only had time to glance at that post before it disappeared

It must be that Daisy forgot to block me

How many more photos like that had she posted, in places I couldn’t see

I had no way of knowing

I ignored Eden’s words and drove back home

Sitting at the piano bench, I found Aaro’s hair. Then, I discovered a long strand of light brown hair that didn’t belong to me

Carefully collecting the hair, I headed to the office and handed it over to my secretary, instructing her to find a trustworthy doctor

Some things, though I already had my suspicions, still required solid proof

The secretary didn’t ask any questions and left my office

As I glanced at the family photo on my desk, I thought back to the rainy night when I first met Aaro

At that time, Eden and I had been married for barely a year. After dinner at a restaurant, we had barely walked a few steps when we saw Aaro standing alone under a large tree, trying to shield himself from the rain

He was dressed so thinly, trembling, his small face pale with the cold

It immediately reminded me of myself back then

I stopped in my tracks, and just as I was about to speak to Eden, Aaro collapsed from exhaustion

It was that very encounter that led me to suggest bringing Aaro into our home, to adopt him

I thought it was destiny

I didn’t realize, however, that it had all been part of Eden’s plan

It’s almost laughable

In four years of running my company, I had earned a reputation as a sharp, shrewd businesswoman

Yet when it came to love, I poured my heart into it and ended up with nothing but a devastating loss

That night when I got home, Eden had already prepared dinner

He hadn’t gone to work in all these years, taking care of everything at home himself

At the dinner table, Eden hesitated before asking, Vivi, Dad and Mom said they saw

you at the hospital today. Are you feeling unwell?”

I paused, lifted my gaze to meet his, and smiled. No, I was just getting a checkup.”

What ifwhat if you poisoned me?”
