Chapter 23
Anthony drove aimlessly through the city streets, his grip on the steering wheel. tightening with every mile.
The weight of guilt pressed down on him like an anchor, dragging him further into a sea of regret.
The car’s interior was suffocating, and in a burst of frustration, he slammed his fist against the steering wheel repeatedly.
“Why did I let her go?” he muttered through gritted teeth. “How could I have been so blind? Daisy… I’m so sorry.”
In his desperation, his thoughts wandered. to the one place where everything had started the Fortune Daisy building.
The grand structure Anthony had named in my honor, a testament to his love and their beginnings.
His chest tightened at the thought of it, of

their wedding day, and how much he had promised her under its shimmering lights.
As the building came into view, Anthony pulled up and parked hastily. But something was off.
The once–vivid sign that bore the name Fortune Daisy was gone, replaced by scaffolding and workers bustling around.
His heart sank as he got out of the car, staring up at what was now an empty shell.
of memories.
“What’s happening here?” he demanded, approaching a man who appeared to be the site manager.
The man looked up from his clipboard, his expression indifferent. “This building? It’s under renovation. It was sold in an auction
a few weeks ago.”
Anthony froze, the words hitting him like a punch to the gut. “Sold?” he echoed, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Yep,” the man confirmed. “A foreign group. bought it. They’re turning it into office space or something. Not really my department to know.”
The weight of the revelation left Anthony momentarily speechless. He felt a pang of loss, as if another piece of me had slipped through his fingers.
But he was not ready to give up. Not yet.
“Do you know where the auction was held?” Anthony asked, his tone urgent.
The manager shrugged. “You could check with the auction house that handled the sale. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.”
Anthony thanked him hastily and rushed back to his car, his heart pounding as he sped toward the auction house. His mind raced with possibilities.
Perhaps if he acted quickly, he could buy the building back or at least find out who the new owners were. Maybe it would lead him closer to me.

When he arrived at the auction house, Anthony wasted no time. He strode into the sleek office, his presence commanding but
frantic.
A receptionist greeted him with a professional smile. “Good afternoon, sir. How can I help you?”
“I need information about the Fortune Daisy building,” Anthony said, his voice sharp with urgency. “It was auctioned recently. I need to know who bought it.”
The receptionist’s smile faltered. “I’m sorry, sir, but we can’t disclose buyer information. It‘ s against our policy to reveal details about our clients.”
Anthony’s patience was already wearing thin. “Listen, I’m not just anyone. That building…it meant everything to my wife and me. I need to know who owns it now.
The receptionist glanced around nervously before lowering her voice. “I understand, sir, but I truly can’t help you with that.

Anthony let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair.
But then, an idea struck him. He leaned forward, his voice softening. “Please. There must be something you can tell me. What about the building itself? Who manages it now? Just give me a clue.”
The receptionist hesitated, glancing at her computer screen.
After a moment, she sighed. “All I can tell you is that the building was purchased by a foreign conglomerate. It’s already under development, and it’s unlikely it’ll be a company soon.”
“Is there truly no way to contact them? I’m willing to pay anything.”
The receptionist shook her head. “I’m sorry, sir. The sale is final.”

disappointment crashing down on him. Hist shoulders slumped as he realized he had hit yet another dead end.
“Thank you,” he muttered quietly, turning away.
As he walked back to his car, his mind was a storm of emotions. Every attempt to find me seemed to lead to another door
slammed in his face.
He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his jaw clenched. “I’m not giving up, Daisy. I’ll find you.”
Anthony paced his car to the Harris Old Manor, the weight of his emotions clear on his face. He should ask his grandfather to allow him to find me.
After all, the company’s immediate crises. were under control. Julie was no longer a threat, the embezzlers had been dealt with, and the team was stabilizing the finances.
But just as he was about to arrive, his phone buzzed. It was his private

investigator. With mixed anticipation and dread, he answered.
“Sir, I have some news, the man on the other line said, his voice steady. “Valerie Keith–your wife, Daisy–is currently on a Europe Tour. The first country she’s visiting is London, and she should be landing at Heathrow Airport shortly.”
Anthony froze, his breath catching in his throat. “Are you sure it’s her?”
