Chapter 28
Primo gripped Yesha‘ s neck, his
eyes
burning with a murderous intensity.
Asteria, terrified that the scene might draw the attention of bystanders and bring the police down on them, quickly yanked Primo away.
“I don’t care what’s going on between you two but don’t drag me into it. I don’t have time for this nonsense!”
Yesha‘ s face flushed crimson, her breath coming in quick, shallow gasps.
But even in the face of fear, she tried to hold onto her act, masking her panic with feigned innocence.
“Primo, you’ve got it all wrong. It’s my sister-”
“Enough!” Primo’s voice was low, tight with fury as he bared his teeth and glared at Yesha. “How much longer do you

intend to keep lying to me?”
Earlier that morning, Assistant Sorell had uncovered the truth about Yesha‘ s past.
She was far from the pure, innocent image she had painted for him.
Since high school, her life had been a tangled mess of chaotic relationships, each one more sordid than the last.
Any man who showed even the slightest hint of interest in Asteria was quickly manipulated by Yesha into her bed.
Primo was no different.
But the so–called “encounter” she had spun, claiming it was part of her working her way through school, was nothing but a
lie.
In truth, Yesha had eloped with a poor singer, escaping a life of hardship.
When she learned Primo was nearby, she orchestrated their “chance meeting” with precision.

The truth hit Primo like a thunderclap,
leaving him seething with rage, teetering on the edge of madness.
But he didn’t have time for that now.
What mattered was finding Asteria and clearing up the mess from the past.
Yet, by sheer accident, he ended up saving Asteria instead.
“Yesha, stop pretending. You never loved me. You used me to hurt Asteria!”
“I was blind… to lose the one who truly
cared for me in favor of a woman like
you…”
Primo approached Asteria, frustration lacing his every step.
“Asteria, why didn’t you warn me sooner? Why did you just stand there and watch me fall for her lies? If I had known, maybe we wouldn’t be here now.”
Even now, Primo struggled to shoulder the
blame.

Asteria looked at the two of them, her emotions a tangled mess.
For over twenty years, their lives had been intertwined, an endless dance of love, betrayal, and regret.
One was the person she had once loved more than anything, and the other, the one she had despised with all her heart.
Now, the man she had loved seemed laughable, and the woman she had hated looked pathetic.
Yesha’s world was nothing but a series of endless struggles.
She didn’t know what love was–and frankly, she didn’t care.
To her, every woman was an enemy, and every victory was one of stealing away a man she had no intention of loving.
But she had completely forgotten that, outside this narrow world, there was so much more to life than men.

As for Primo?
He was nothing more than a self–righteous, greedy, and hypocritical man in a perfectly tailored suit.
Asteria turned her gaze to Primo, and with a cold, deliberate voice, she spoke, each word like a sharp blade, “You truly disgust me.”
With that, she turned to leave, but a police car suddenly blocked her way.
The chaos had drawn attention, and a passerby had called the authorities.
Asteria had planned to confront Yesha, but without surveillance or solid proof, there was little to be done.
However, Primo‘ s act of hitting Yesha had been witnessed by many, and that could lead to charges.
Yet Yesha stubbornly played her part.
“He’s my lover. We were just playing around. He loved me so much that he acted

out of desperation. I don’t blame him.”
Her words were as false as the smile she
wore.
