embarrassing for Alpha Joseph. On top of that, the man I was now marrying was Alpha Leonard. No matter how ambitious he was, he didn’t dare confront Alpha Leonard right there.
He had no choice but to swallow his pride and storm off, dragging Omega Amanda with him.
That evening, I sat beside Alpha Leonard, gently massaging his legs. My heart ached for him as I worked, hoping to ease even a fraction of his pain.
“Leonard” I asked softly, “is there truly no hope for your legs?”

I nodded, my cheeks warming.
“I can’t even imagine the pain you’ve been through. No one in your family cared about you–if anything, they probably wished you were dead so they could take your position and your inheritance.”
“I used to make mistakes too. Before, you were always alone, enduring all that suffering and hardship.”
As I spoke, I tightened my grip on the front of his shirt, gazing at him with raw emotion.
“Leonard, promise me… you’ll take care of yourself.”

I was genuinely afraid Alpha Leonard might not make it, just as Alpha Joseph had predicted.
I couldn’t bear that kind of ending. I had just gotten him back.
I couldn’t accept the thought of him dying in front of me while I couldn’t do a thing.
Alpha Leonard gently wiped away my tears, then slowly stood up with me in his arms.
Not only that, but he walked around the room, still holding me.
I was in shock, unable to believe what was happening right in front of me.
Panicked, I pushed against him.

“Put me down!” I exclaimed, squirming slightly. “I’m heavy! You’ll hurt yourself!”
But Alpha Leonard just laughed, as if he’d heard the funniest joke. Instead of letting me go, he tightened his hold on me.
“Don’t worry, Luna Britney. I’m not going to make you a young widow!”
As I stared at him in astonishment, Alpha Leonard began explaining everything to me.
The rogues‘ attack had never been an accident–it was a deliberate murder attempt.
“Joseph’s family bribed the rogues,” he said, his voice calm yet laced with quiet fury. “Their goal was simple–kill me, seize power, and take control of the Blue Rock Pack. But

their plan failed. I survived with only minor injuries.”
I listened intently as he recounted what happened next.
“When Joseph’s mother rushed to the hospital, she wasn’t there out of concern,” he continued. “She came to confirm my death. If not for my beta and loyal guards arriving in time, she might have succeeded in ensuring it.”
Alpha Leonard paused, his jaw tightening at the memory.
“I knew their ambitions,” he said, his voice low. “If I wanted to survive–and ensure they didn’t get their hands on what wasn’t theirs- I had to outplay them.”
He went on to explain his elaborate ruse.

Leonard had spread rumors of his failing health, claiming his injuries were fatal and his organs irreparably damaged.
“I stepped down as Alpha,” he said, “and let Beta Daniel take over as the acting leader. Every public appearance I made was carefully staged–frail, wheelchair–bound, a man on the brink of death.”
To make the act even more convincing, Leonard allowed spies from Alpha Joseph’s family to remain close, feeding them just enough to report back on his “declining health.”
The ploy worked perfectly.
Joseph’s family, believing Leonard’s demise was imminent, grew careless and arrogant. Joseph himself had loudly boasted on numerous occasions, “Once Alpha Leonard’s

“Your father and Omega Amanda dismissed me as a ‘broken card,” Leonard added, his tone tinged with amusement. “They thought I was no longer worth their time.”
By the end of his story, my shock had given way to admiration.
“Brilliant,” I said, clapping my hands lightly. “Absolutely brilliant. You played them all like chess pieces.”
Alpha Leonard smiled, leaning down to kiss my forehead.
