Chapter 5
“As Diana’s PhD advisor, I must reveal the truth,” Mr. Madron said on the hospital room TV, holding up a stack of documents at a press conference.
“The Roffe Group, under the guise of acquisition, has committed commercial murder against Cleveland Medical Center. They bribed suppliers, poached doctors, and orchestrated medical accidents…”
A crash echoed from outside the door.
“Shut the hell up!” Byron’s voice rang out.
The security guards couldn’t stop him. He stormed into the room, ripping the TV plug out of the wall.

Chapter 5
“You think turning off the TV will cover it up?” Nurse Judith sneered, pulling out her phone.
The news continued to broadcast. Phones, tablets, and screens at every nurse station showed the same coverage.
“Even more appalling, they stole our billion–dollar artificial heart valve technology and have already registered a patent
overseas…”
“The Roffe Group stock plummets by 89%!”
“Partners and the CFO have fled!”
“Company accounts frozen!”
“Multiple banks are recovering loans!”
The nurse station erupted into chaos.

“His ex–wife found the evidence and then had the accident!”
“I heard she was pregnant!”
“What a monster!”
“He deserves every bit of bad luck!”
Ex–wife.
Byron stood at my bedside, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles had turned a ghostly pale.
The hospital entrance was a madhouse.
“Give me back what’s rightfully mine!”
“Down with the Roffe Group scoundrels!”
“Severe punishment for medical fraud!”

“Resist corporate acquisitions!”
Hundreds of doctors and nurses waved banners, while news trucks from major TV stations blocked the road. Some even climbed to the top of an ambulance, waving signs.
“Mr. Roffe! Please respond to the fraud charges…” A group of reporters rushed into the room, flashing cameras blindingly.
“Get out!” Byron overturned the IV stand in fury.
The police entered. “Mr. Roffe, please cooperate with the investigation regarding the patent fraud case…”
He gripped my hand tightly. “Diana, you won. It’s all over for me now.”

Suddenly, a nurse ran by, shouting, “The director’s collapsed!”
“Call a doctor, quick!”
“It’s a heart attack!”
“Move him to ICU! Blood pressure’s dropping!”
Byron let go of my hand, ready to rush out. But the police grabbed him. “Mr. Roffe, please come with us.”
At that moment, the secretary burst in, panic–stricken. “It’s even worse! All the overseas accounts have been frozen!”
“The entire board has resigned!”
“The construction payments have failed!”

“The stock is down to the limit, it’s facing delisting!”
“Your wife… No, your ex–wife’s legal team has filed a lawsuit!”
“All major hospitals are cutting ties!”
“Suppliers are suing in mass!”
A decade of a business empire, collapsing in this moment.
The police brought out the handcuffs. “Mr. Roffe, you’re under suspicion for contract fraud..”
“Wait!” Nurse Judith screamed, “She’s bleeding! Massive bleeding!”
“Diana!” Byron struggled to reach me.

The police pinned him down. “Stay right here!”
Before the darkness consumed me, I heard his cries.
The once powerful mogul of the business world, now screaming in a hospital room.
Another ambulance screeched away.
On the day his empire crumbled, I lay in the ICU, hearing him cry for the first time.
And for the first time, I truly had my revenge.
